Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for efficient operation of wireless access nodes in a dense deployment of wireless access nodes in a cellular communication network. In general, the dense deployment of wireless access nodes includes multiple wireless access nodes in a service area. The service area is preferably, but not necessarily, a low-load service area. As used herein, a low-load service area is an area within an overall service area of the dense deployment of wireless access nodes in which all wireless access nodes are not needed to provide a desired data capacity. Overlapping radio coverage areas of the wireless access nodes in, or serving, the service area are leveraged to enable efficient operation of the wireless access nodes in the service area.

Abstract: Techniques of executing commands in forwarding nodes are discussed. Control messages are recursively included within each other and distributed in a data plane formed by a network of the forwarding nodes. A given control message can include a command which is executed by a respective forwarding node. The given control message further includes a further control message to be sent to a further forwarding node by the respective forwarding node. The control messages are created by a control node which is configured for controlling operation of the network of forwarding nodes.
Abstract: The disclosure provides rifamycin and rifamycin derivative compositions, including rifabutin and rifabutin derivative compositions able to cause drug-sensitization in a cancer cell or inhibition of a cancer cell. The disclosure also provides methods of administering such compositions to cancer cells to sensitize them to drugs, such as chemotherapeutics, or directly inhibit them. The disclosure also provides methods of administering such compositions to increase reactive oxygen species (ROS), particularly superoxides, in cancer cells. The disclosure further provides methods of determining whether a cancer will respond to chemotherapeutics and whether to administer rifamycin or a rifamycin derivative based on ROS levels in cancer cells of a patient.

Abstract: Systems and methods related to time and frequency synchronization of a base station in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a synchronizing base station comprises selecting a first base station for frequency synchronization and a second base station for time synchronization, where the second base station can be different than the first base station selected for frequency synchronization. The method further comprises performing frequency synchronization using a signal transmitted from a radio interface of the first base station and performing time synchronization using a signal transmitted from a radio interface of the second base station. In this manner, the synchronizing base station is enabled to independently select the first and second base stations used for frequency and time synchronization, respectively.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a method of inserting a lateral implant within an intervertebral space defined between an upper vertebral member and a lower vertebral member includes creating a lateral passage through a subject in order to provide minimally invasive access to the intervertebral space, at least partially clearing out native tissue of the subject within and/or near the intervertebral space, positioning a base plate within the intervertebral space, wherein the base plate comprise an upper base plate and a lower base plate and advancing an implant between the upper base plate and the lower base plate so that the implant is urged into the intervertebral space and the upper vertebral member is distracted relative to the lower vertebral member.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a data object from a Content Server to a client device over a Radio Access Network (RAN). A first property is determined that may affect the way in which the data object is to be transferred. A property of the data object is also determined. In response to the determined first property and the property of the data object, a characteristic of a transfer of the data object from the Content Server to the client device is amended. The data object is then provided from the Content Server to the client device. The method allows characteristics of the transfer of the data object to be changed to optimize transfer to the client device. Examples of the first property include properties in the RAN or client device instructions.

Abstract: Power is supplied to telecom equipment in DSLAM outdoor/remote cabinets with relatively short distances between the subscriber and the cabinet. All of the subscriber Customer Premises Equipment connected to the DSLAM each provide a portion of the required power to the remote cabinet via the telephone line connecting the DSLAM and the subscriber CPE. The CPE at the subscriber premises is already connected to power mains in the subscriber premises so, providing power, via the telephone line to the outdoor cabinet is relatively simple. The remote cabinet includes a circuit for receiving the power input from each subscriber and then distributing the power, required by the DSLAM load, equally among the subscribers.
Abstract: Dual Radio Access Transfer of an IMS in an alerting phase for the Packet Switched to Circuit Switched direction includes initiating an IMS media session towards UE and, during a session alerting phase, making a determination that a DRVCC transfer is required from a PS to CS, access, sending a SIP message from the UE to a SCC-AS, over the PS access, informing the SCC-AS of the DRVCC transfer, and responding to receipt of the SIP message at the SCC-AS by sending a SIP INVITE from the SCC-AS towards MSC. The SIP INVITE includes an identity of the UE as a called party identity and the STN as the calling party identity. The Transfer includes sending from the MSC to the UE a CS Setup message, whereupon the MSC is placed in a state in which it expects a CS Answer from the UE.
