Abstract: A guitar neck is formed with a protruding trapezoidal heel which extends into a pocket formed at the neck end of the body. Motion of the heel within the pocket is limited by the sides of the pocket, and by a lip which protrudes from the pocket floor to engage with the neck upwardly of the neck heel.
Abstract: A system and method for the efficient execution of interleaved look-up and edit request to a connection table in an ATM exchange is described. This global address of an ATM cell is mapped to a smaller, equipment-specific local address using a connection table stored at each local exchange. When an ATM cell arrives at an ATM exchange, a look-up request is sent to the connection table along with the global address values. Since the database operating system accords the highest priority to look-up requests, queries to the connection table for the local address of an ATM cell results in the temporary suspension of execution of all other tasks. A binary search algorithm is used for executing the interrupt-driven local address look-up request. Entries in the connection table continually need to be added, deleted, replaced or verified. Efficient execution of these tasks is facilitated by maintaining a database in a sorted order using an enhanced bubblesort algorithm.

Abstract: A sewing or embroidering machine with an electronic control device including a microcomputer. Access authorization for the individual modes of operation of the sewing and embroidering machine can be changed by the buyer of the machine. The assignment of access authorization to individual modes of operation of the sewing machine is stored in a first write-read memory in the form of a table, access authorization table. The first write-read memory is connected with the microprocessor and with a first input device such that after a corresponding operating function is called up or requested by a person authorized to do so, the access authorization can be correspondingly changed for the mode of operation in question by the input means.

Abstract: The present invention is a hand-held micro-computer with an attached printer that receives input from a physician and prints out a legible prescription slip for the physician's signature. The micro-computer has a keypad, display, and memory. The memory stores information about prescription drugs and physicians who have access to the micro-computer. When a physician wants to "write" or prepare a prescription slip, the physician enters a personal identification number, thus gaining access to the micro-computer. The physician then selects a drug to prescribe, either by entering a drug identification number or scrolling through a list of drug names. After the specific drug has been selected, the physician may change the default information for that drug or accept it. Once the information is correct, the physician prints out the prescription slip on the attached printer.

Abstract: A method and system for providing support of local control functionality in a mobile telecommunications system independently of mobile station roaming status is provided. In the invention, upon receiving a registration access message a visited system accesses a database and determines whether the registering mobile station supports local control features supported by the system. If the mobile station and system support common local control features the system returns a local control registration confirmation message in place of the normal system registration confirmation message. The local control registration confirmation message confirms registration and also serves as an indication to the mobile station that the mobile station and system support common local control features. The mobile station and system may now function accordingly to allow use of the common local control features.
Abstract: A method of conveying products, whereby a product is fed by a conveying device along a path to a pickup station, through which is fed a gripping member for picking up the product; the product is secured to the conveying device, and a position of the product is detected to regulate the conveying device and feed the product to the pickup station in time with the gripping member.
Abstract: A method and apparatus takes into account the Doppler shift of the information in a received burst, a frequency offset value is calculated for each received burst. For each burst, a signal quality value is calculated, which is compared with a predetermined signal quality threshold level. The absolute value of each of the frequency offset values whose signal quality value meets or exceeds the predetermined signal quality threshold is obtained. The frequency offset values whose signal quality values do not meet the threshold level are disregarded. The total mean of all of the absolute frequency offset values is then calculated. The total mean value is used to accurately estimate the speed of the mobile station. Consequently, the speed of faster and slower mobile stations can be readily distinguished, and a hierarchical cell structure can be effectively used to increase capacity and reduce handovers in a cellular communications system.
Abstract: A pull-out guide assembly for a drawer or the like includes a support rail to be fastened to a furniture side wall, a pull-out rail to be fastened to the drawer and an intermediate rail on each side of the drawer. Running rollers transfer the load of the drawer from one rail to another. The running rollers are held in cage-like running carriages. Driving rollers which run on the supporting rail and the pull-out rail are mounted on the intermediate rail. The intermediate rail has a U-shaped or double T-shaped profile with upper and lower horizontal running flanges and a vertical connecting web. All running rollers are situated between the running flanges of the intermediate rail. A supporting roller for the pull-out rail is mounted at the front end of the intermediate rail.
Abstract: Polypropylene mixtures of increased stress-crack resistance and melt strength can be produced by irradiating polypropylene powders with low average particle diameters by low energy electron-beam accelerators with energies of 150 to 300 keV. The polypropylene mixtures produced are suitable particularly for producing films, sheets, panels, coatings, pipes, hollow objects and foamed materials.
Abstract: Hyperallergenic conditions are treated by the administration of interferon at a dosage of from about 0.01 to about 5 IU/lb./day such that the interferon is held in contact with the patient's oral and pharyngeal mucosae. In preferred embodiments, IFN-.alpha. is administered in a solid dosage form, e.g., a saliva-dissolvable lozenge.

Abstract: A monolithic high frequency voltage controlled oscillator trimming circuit includes a plurality of capacitance loops selectively connected between a first and second differential input of a voltage oscillator active network. A plurality of diodes, connected in series with the respective plurality of capacitance loops, selectively connect respective capacitance loops between the first and second differential input when forward biased. In a similar fashion, the plurality of diodes selectively disconnect the respective capacitance loops from the first and second differential input when reverse biased. A controller applies a forward biasing voltage to the diode of the selected capacitance loop to connect the capacitance loop to the active network of the voltage controlled oscillator and applies a reverse biasing voltage to the diode of the selected capacitance loop to disconnect the capacitance loop from the active network.

An electrically conductive layer (5) can be arranged between the blank and at least a portion of the inner surfaces of the hollow space.
Abstract: Apparatus, and associated method, for determining frequency deviation of an oscillator due to aging of the oscillator. Frequency deviation of a clock signal generated by the oscillator relative to a reference clock signal is determined, and the component of the frequency deviation due to aging of the oscillator is estimated from the total value. The determined value of frequency deviation can be utilized in a feedback arrangement to tune the oscillator to counteract for the effects of aging of the oscillator. The frequency deviation can be determined even if the reference signal is of a center frequency susceptible to being offset from a nominal center frequency beyond an allowable amount within a limited time period.
