Abstract: To embroider combination patterns composed of partial patterns on sewing or embroidering machines with a driven embroidery frame, a common sewing stitch each, which is used as a hooking point, is located outside the contour of the pattern, and whose connection threads to the pattern proper are removed after finishing the second partial pattern, is formed at the end of the first partial pattern and at the beginning of the second partial pattern for the exact positioning of the partial patterns.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition capable of reducing or eliminating offensive odors emanating from sites including, animal holding areas, animal waste areas, feed lots, water holding areas, landfills, trash transfer centers and leachate reservoirs. The composition comprises an acid component, or salt thereof, an iron component and a nitrogen source. The invention also relates to a method of odor reduction or elimination based on the above-described composition. Furthermore, the composition utilized in the disclosed methods includes a polysaccharide hydrolase component, and at least one molybdenum, copper and/or gum component.
Abstract: A new and useful a plastic article, particularly plastic siding, with an accent color pattern incorporated therein, a specially formed accent color pellet which is useful in manufacturing such an article, and a process for producing the article using the pellets are provided. The process contemplates extruding a plastic product from a base material formed of powder-sized particles and specially formed accent color pellets. The accent color pellets are alloyed masses of resins and pigment which are larger than the powder particles of the base material, and have a higher vicat softening point temperature than the base material. The alloyed pellets are designed to melt controllably and to mix controllably with the base material.

Abstract: The invention is directed to methods for the pretreatment of a lignocellulose-containing biomass. Pretreatment comprises the addition of calcium hydroxide and water to the biomass to form a mixture, and subjecting the mixture to relatively high temperatures for a period of time sufficient to render the biomass amenable to digestion. The pretreated biomass is digested to produce useful products such as feedstocks, fuels, and compounds including fatty acids, sugars, ketones and alcohols. Alternatively, the pretreatment process includes the addition of an oxidizing agent, selected from the group consisting of oxygen and oxygen-containing gasses, to the mixture under pressure. The invention is also directed to a method for the recovery of calcium from the pretreated biomass.
Abstract: A simple and efficient process and automated system is provided for controlling the mixing of polymeric material and additive materials in an internal mixer to provide quality products and batch to batch product uniformity. Real time mixing temperature profiles of a plurality of good quality batches of the same product are developed. The profiles are then superimposed or averaged to produce a real time temperature curve with maximum and minimum temperature tolerance limits, thus providing a range of batch temperatures that are allowable in real time during the mixing cycle. A process control system is programmed to store the range of allowable temperatures and to signal a mixer control to change at least one of the rotor speed and the ram pressure when the real time batch temperature falls outside the reference temperature range for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: Vegetables or macerated vegetables were washed with water passed through ion-exchange resins capable of removing NO.sub.3 - and NO.sub.2 -ions to remove nitrate nitrogen harmful to human body, then pulverized by freeze-drying. Then, powdered vegetable juice is obtained by adding components effective for healthy life thereto.
Abstract: A plant and method for coagulating, pasteurizing and cooking food having a liquid or pasty base including a plurality of stations, devices for implementing a processing step on the food in each station, at least one container into which the food to be processed is initially placed, and devices for enabling the container(s) to be successively positioned in the stations to thereby subject the food in the container(s) to processing by the processing devices in the stations. The processing device in at least one station includes a variable-speed dynamic radial heat exchanger for affecting the temperature of the food.
Abstract: A device for transferring blister packs comprises an intermediate station situated between a working station (3) and a packaging line. The intermediate station includes a clamp for receiving and holding at least one blister pack. First and second groups of suction cups are driven by a two-arm mechanism situated in the intermediate station. In a first position, the first group of suction cups is placed in the working station for picking up one blister pack while the second group of suction cups is over the intermediate station for picking up another blister pack temporarily held by the clamp. In a second position, the first group of suction cups is located over the intermediate station, to release the blister pack previously picked up, that is received and held by the clamp, while the second group of suction cups is over the packaging line to deliver the blister pack previously picked up.

Abstract: A pseudo-random number generator, and an associated method, generates a pseudo-random number. The pseudo-random number is a complex, linear combination of values of input sequences provided to the generator and exhibits little correlation with such input values. The generator includes a summation combiner and an IIR (infinite impulse response) filter connected in a feedback connection with the summation combiner. Because of the low correlation of the pseudo-random number and input values provided to the generator, the pseudo-random number is less susceptible to cryptanalysis by an unauthorized party.
Abstract: This invention concerns a suction unit for hoods, ovens and similar appliances having a double auger casing consisting of two sectional half-shells, namely a top and a bottom shell which ensure easy assembly and automatic centring on a fan-motor unit entirely housed in the casing.

Abstract: Ventilator for use with a source of gas under pressure for supplying such gas to the airway of a patient having an inlet adapted to be connected to the source of gas, and an outlet adapted to be connected to the airway of the patient. A pneumatic oscillator is connected to the inlet for supplying pulsatile gas in the form of successive small volumes of gas to the airway of the patient during a breath of the patient to cause diffusive ventilation of the airway to the patient. An exhalation valve assembly is connected to the patient airway for permitting the patient to exhale gases introduced into the patient airway.
