  • Patent number: 5730841
Abstract: A two-wire former for producing a web of fibrous material, in particular a paper web, is designed as a gap-former with the following characteristics: a first and a second wires form together a twin wire; a headbox injects the pulp directly between the two wires; at least one first dewatering zone consists in the advance direction of a curved, non-rotary, interrupted surface, for example a forming shoe or several strips that form together a surface. The invention is characterized in that a convex dewatering element that starts directly at the point of impact of the jet of pulp is provided at the beginning of the first dewatering zone, seen in the advance direction, and has at least two curvature radii Ri in contact with the wires. Both curvature radii Ri are smaller than the curvature radius Ri+l that follows them in the advance direction.

  • Patent number: 5730295
Abstract: A shrink wrap or stretch wrap pallet system including a pair of end panels arranged and configured so as to mount on opposite sides of a package, effectively connecting a base pallet and a top panel. The end panels themselves are spaced from the perimeter of the package. The end panels have vertical edges which extend beyond the perimeter of the package, thereby defining a plane between respective end panels, the plane serving to space the wrap, which lies substantially therein, from the package. The end panels are conveniently sized and shaped to fit within the area of the base pallet, intermediate panels and top panel thereby providing a relatively compact return package. Side panels may be provided to supplement the end panels.

  • Patent number: 5724958
Abstract: A breathing apparatus for survival gear is provided by a head receiving hood that is sealed over the head of the user and has sufficient volume to provide breathing air for at least a selected period of time while submerged and is made of a material that prevents the ingress of liquid water while being permeable to the flow of gasses therethrough whereby the supply of oxygen in the hood may be replenished and the carbon dioxide concentration reduced. A suitable waterproof transparent window is formed in the hood in the position which permits the wearer to see out of the hood and a gas passage spacer pad prevents the hood from collapsing into the breathing apertures of the user and provides passages communicating with the inside of the hood remote from the breathing passage.

  • Patent number: 5725696
Abstract: The invention refers to a process for production of raw stainless steel castings, in particular for stainless steel strip, covering rolling and annealing of cast material if required, as well as de-scaling, in particular by pickling in aqueous media, and coiling for raw stainless steel strip if necessary. In order to achieve greater flexibility as regards steel grades that can be treated and dimensions of the castings, the material is to be heat-treated in batches and preferably also annealed, cooled and de-scaled immediately after the final heat treatment stage, without intermediate storage, in batches. In a process covering the process stages for casting, rolling of the cast material if necessary, cooling, as well as de-scaling, in particular by pickling in aqueous media, and coiling, if necessary, to form raw stainless steel coils, the material is to be cast in batches and de-scaled immediately afterwards without intermediate storage in order to obtain the same advantage.

  • Patent number: 5725306
Abstract: A mixer for fluffing and mixing pulp with treatment additives includes a disc rotor, an annular stator, a pulp feed channel, a ribbon feeder and a baffle, the axially rotating disc rotor including a shaft and a grinding segment. The stator includes a grinding segment which opposes the rotor grinding segment. The feed channel is coaxial with the rotor axis, has a discharge end which confronts the rotor and has an inlet end for receiving pulp. The ribbon feeder is coaxially disposed within the feed channel and has a hollow axially rotating shaft. This feeder discharges pulp at the rotor toward the mixing and fluffing zone. The baffle is carried on the feeder shaft and guides the pulp toward the fluffing and mixing zone. Treatment additives are introduced as the pulp moves toward the discharge end of the channel.
