Abstract: A process for charging and discharging zinc/bromine batteries with a plurality of anode and cathode chambers into and from which anolyte or catholyte fluids are fed and drained. Metallic zinc is deposited on the anode and atomic and/or molecular bromine is deposited at the cathode, and bromine is bonded in an only slightly water soluble complex with a complex-forming agent from the aqueous phase. The anolyte and/or catholyte fluids are circulated periodically. The oleophilic cathode phase is separated from the hydrophilic cathode phase. Only the aqueous phase of the catholyte is circulated through the cathode chambers, and the times at which the fluid is circulated is dependent upon the temperature of the anolyte in the anode chambers.

Abstract: A food supplement comprising a mineral complex obtained from coral by soaking it in a solution of organic acid suitable for ingestion such as citric acid or acetic acid and by extracting minerals from the coral by the action of said organic acid.
Abstract: A discharge mechanism for meat-comminuting machine is disclosed, which comprises a housing structure and a discharge rotor. The housing structure defines a discharge chamber adapted to receive meat comminuted by the meat-comminuting machine, through a front mouth of the discharge chamber, and defines a back wall of the discharge chamber and a cylindrical wall thereof. The discharge rotor is arranged to be rotatably driven in the discharge chamber for discharging the comminuted meat from the discharge chamber, through an outlet of the cylindrical wall, via centrifugal force.
Abstract: A rotary tabletting machine, for compressing powder or granular material, includes a rotating turret (3) supporting a ring-shaped member (5) in which openings (2) are made to be filled with the powder or granular material, with pairs of punches moved by driving means (10) which engage pairs of rollers (41) joined to the punches. The punches (20,30) have operative heads (21,31) adapted to compress the material inside the openings (2), and outer mobile heads (24,34), made of wear resistant material. The pairs of opposite punches (20,30) feature also, for each of the punches (20,30), respective tightness seals (25,35).

Abstract: Nitric oxide has proved to mediate many important physiological processes. The nitric oxide donors of the present invention have a NONOate anion linked to an ortho-substituted aryl, a heteroaromatic substituent, asteroid, or a catecholamine. Preferred ortho substituents are alkoxy, halo, and alkyl. The cation of the salt is an alkali metal, an alkaline-earth metal, an ammonium or substituted ammonium group. Nitric oxide donors provided herein are more stable than that of nitrogen-bonded NONOates described previously. The by product left after release of NO, and the nitric oxide donors themselves, are very probably less carcinogenic than the corresponding nitrogen-bonded NONOates.

Abstract: Sieve with slots or holes, made from a U-shaped section, constituted by a stack of identical circles, each circle (1, 1') being made from a tapered U-shaped section of which the two ends are welded or mechanically connected to one another, characterized in that this stack of circles (1, 1') is maintained tightly between two rings (2-3, 2-'3') by a plurality of tie rods (4, 4') and in that the lateral walls of the circles in the stack rest on one another without any further fastening together, so that the walls of the sections can undergo elastic deformation under the effects of the tightening.
Abstract: A method of combatting microbial infections, including Escherichia coli and Salmonella infections, in immature birds by in ovo administration of an immune lymphokine (ILK) containing preparation in an amount effective to combat microbial infections in immature birds. Abstract: The snowboard binding having a sole part integrated in the snowboard boot and a first binding element cooperating with it and continuously connected to the snowboard. The sole part has two spring-loaded pins projecting laterally out of the sole part and capable of engaging with an opening of the first binding element. The pins can be retracted with a device attached to the snowboard boot and thus the binding can be opened.
Abstract: A parka is formed with a substantially rhomboid shaped beaver tail secured at the center and adjacent to the bottom of the back of the parka and is movable from a stored position to a deployed operative position wherein it extends between the legs and part way up the front of the parka, thereby to pull the bottom circumferential edge of the parka into close relationship with the top, the outside of the legs of the wearer while the beaver tail is in close contact with the inside of the legs in the crotch area to provide a better sealed garment.
Abstract: An excavating and conveying chain assembly for transporting ballast of a track includes a plurality of chain links hingedly connected to each other for traveling along a transport path.
