Abstract: A pull-out mechanism for a drawer includes a support rail which is to be secured to a furniture cabinet, a pull-out rail which is to be secured to the drawer and a central rail arranged between the support and pull-out rails. The weight of the drawer is transmitted between the rails by rollers. Respective deflection rollers are arranged at the front and rear ends of the central rail. A control cable is secured to the support rail and to the pull-out rail and is guided over the deflection rollers. The cable has two free ends which are each connected to a coupling including a receiving part and an inserting part, each of which has a respective retaining member in the shape of a toothed rack, by way of which the inserting part can be coupled in the receiving part over a capture region corresponding to the length of the toothed racks. One of the coupling parts can be coupled to the support or pull-out rail.

Abstract: The dry end of a paper machine comprises a first dryer group with top drying cylinders, with a first drying wire and with bottom deflection suction rolls. Adjacent this, there is a second dryer group with bottom drying cylinders, with a second drying screen and with top deflection suction rolls. In this way, both sides of the web to be dried come, in succession, into direct contact with the drying cylinders. At the place where the web changes from the first drying wire to the second drying wire, there is a transfer suction roll which lies within the loop of the second support belt. The web travels there from the last cylinder of the first dryer group over an at least approximately straight travel path to the transfer suction roll and thus onto the second support belt.

Abstract: A modified gabled drink carton is disclosed which makes it easier for the elderly and infirm patient to open and use the cation and to thereby drink nutritional liquid contained therein. The disclosed carton includes, in addition to the gabled pour spout on a standard gabled drink cation, a straw port which is located under the gable opposite thereto. Identifying markings distinguish the pour-spout gable and the opposing straw-pod gable, and thereby help the user to locate the end which has the type of opening that is desired to be used.
Abstract: A throttle device for stock suspensions in a paper machine including a feed line, a drain line and a spatially variable cavity connecting the feed line and drain line with each other. The cavities provided with a plurality of nestable walls in which the nesting effects a lengthening of the flow path.
Abstract: In order to independently influence the dewatering performance of a wet forming section of a paper machine as well as the quality of a web produced by the machine, a paper machine head box is mounted on a swiveling device adapted to move a nozzle of the head box around a periphery of a forming cylinder. Two continuous-loop forming wires wrap about the forming cylinder and pulp is discharged through the nozzle into a gap formed by the two wires. A method of operation of the wet forming section includes the step of swiveling both the head box nozzle and an inlet roll (upon which one of the wires is wrapped) around the forming cylinder in a circular arc.
Abstract: Ventilator cover (1) for exhaust ventilation of roofs in the ridge, hip or arris area, with preferably a plastic ventilator cover body (2) and sealing element (9), the sealing element (9) having a shape approximating that of a wedge in cross section and a sealing element body (10) which consists of plastic foam. To improve sealing properties and to increase the service life of the sealing element (9), an essentially nonporous skin (14) is provided on at least one of the free surfaces (11, 12), preferably on outside surface (11), of the sealing element body (10) so as to cover roughly its entire area. This skin (14) is formed from a structural change of the material of the sealing element body (10) at its surface (11, 12), so that the skin consists of the same plastic as the sealing element body (10), and is permanently connected to it.
Abstract: A bonding dental ceramic material and method of use thereof is provided. The bonding dental ceramic material includes at least one network former and between about 8 and 17 percent by weight B.sub.2 O.sub.3. The bonding dental ceramic material does not contain more than 5% by weight of opacifier and/or pigment, and is adapted to bond to titanium or titanium alloy with a bond strength of at least 20 MPa. Preferably the bonding dental ceramic material has a melting point less than 800.degree. C. and includes a fluxing agent. This bonding dental ceramic material is used to make dental crowns and bridges. The bonding dental ceramic material is applied to titanium or titanium alloy and fired at less than 800.degree. C. Then an opaque dental ceramic material including at least one network former and more than 5% by weight of opacifier and/or pigment but less than 5% by weight B.sub.2 O.sub.3 is applied to the bonding dental ceramic material and fired at less than 800.degree. C.

Abstract: A quantification of approximate entropy is determined on a set of data by comparing subsets of the data. The comparison reveals the regularity and stability of similar patterns amongst subsets of the data. The comparisons perform such that the contribution of noise to measurement of the regularity and stability is minimized. Quantitative values are assigned to measure the degree of regularity and stability. From these quantitative values a single output measure is generated indicative of the amount of patternness of the sequence of data. The calculations required to determine this approximate entropy are preferably performed within a data processing system. Numerous peripheral devices may be attached to such a data processing system. The types of data for which the approximate entropy may be calculated include any sets of data wherein the amount of patternness is sought.
Abstract: The device has a rotating member including pulleys that and joined to a belt conveyor along which flat folded cases advance. Suction cups are mounted on shafts situated along the periphery of the rotary member and a coaxial drum, rotating in synchrony with the pulleys, carries the shafts which are made to oscillate by crank means. The drum also supports rocking levers which are in engagement with a cam and cause cranks to rotate. Further suction cups, situated at the outlet of the feeding line, are moved in phase relation with the previous suction cups between a gripping position, in which the suction cups grip a flat folded case on opposite sides, and a position in which adjacent wall panels of the case are opened. Belt conveyors receive the opened case and trail it along a packaging line.

Abstract: A device for feeding a continuous rolled strip (5) of printing substrate to a laser printer (10) not designed for this purpose and for delivering the strip (5) in a predetermined format. There is an input (12) and an output (14) of the printer (10). Each input and output comprises a cutter (32, 34) for the said strip (5) and a device for measuring the length of the strip (5) between two successive cuts. The measuring device actuates the cutters upon the detection by the measuring device of a predetermined length of strip (5) between cuts. The measuring device detects a cut end of the strip (5).
Abstract: Self-repairing, fiber reinforced matrix materials include a matrix material including inorganic as well as organic matrices. Disposed within the matrix are hollow fibers having a selectively releasable modifying agent contained therein. The hollow fibers may be inorganic or organic and of any desired length, wall thickness or cross-sectional configuration. The modifying agent is selected from materials capable of beneficially modifying the matrix fiber composite after curing. The modifying agents are selectively released into the surrounding matrix in use in response to a predetermined stimulus be it internal or externally applied. The hollow fibers may be closed off or even coated to provide a way to keep the modifying agent in the fibers until the appropriate time for selective release occurs.
Abstract: This assisted selection system comprises an electrohydraulic actuator (12) which controls the input element of the gearbox and may itself be controlled by parameters provided by the engine control computer. The actuator (12) comprises a group of solenoid valves (34, 35, 37, 52, 53) connected to cylinders (15, 16, 41, 42) controlling a fork selecting shaft (13). The cylinders (15, 16) may cause the rotation of the shaft (13) by means of a rocker (14) for selecting the fork corresponding to the chosen ratio, and cause the shaft (13) to move in translation so as to engage the chosen ratio by displacement of the selected fork. This automatic selecting system, which is also applicable to gearboxes of the barrel type, permits, when coupled with the engine control computer, the driver to avoid effecting the declutching and clutching operations, while enabling him to fully master his selection of the speed, if he desires, with no loss due to slip.
