Patent number: 7369813Abstract: The number of measurements needed to calibrate an electrical device is reduced. Apparatus and methods minimize output of one or more unwanted signals by determining a calibration setting, in a minimal number of measurements, from determined distances to a best setting. Each distance to a best setting can be determined as a function of the characteristic of the unwanted signal and the measured unwanted signal level. A calibration setting point can be determined by searching for a setting point having a lowest sum of distance errors determined from the calculated distances and from the measured and non measured setting points. The techniques and apparatus are useful for minimizing a number of measurements that would be needed for determining a setting that substantially prevents generation of unwanted output signals, such as carrier leakage (LO-leakage) and unwanted sidebands, and for quickly determining whether an acceptable calibration setting exists for a device.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2003Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Peter Andersson

Publication number: 20080101511Abstract: Ascertaining which one of a number of cells of a cellular communication system transmitted an OFDM signal involves obtaining reference symbols from the OFDM signal. Compensating phase shift values for phase aligning the plurality of reference symbols are estimated and used to generate phase corrected reference symbols. At least two scrambling code sequences are applied to the phase corrected reference symbols to obtain at least two de-scrambled phase corrected reference symbol sequences, wherein each of the scrambling codes is associated with a respectively different one of the cells of the cellular communication system. A power value of each of the de-scrambled phase corrected reference symbol sequences is ascertained. That one of the scrambling codes that is associated with a highest one of the power values is ascertained, thereby ascertaining which one of the number of cells of the cellular communication system transmitted the OFDM signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2007Publication date: May 1, 2008Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Bengt Lindoff, Leif Wilhelmsson

Publication number: 20080101488Abstract: Ascertaining a signal power of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal involves ascertaining a plurality of channel estimates from the OFDM signal. Compensating phase shift values for phase aligning the plurality of channel estimates are estimated and used to generate phase corrected channel estimates. The phase corrected channel estimates are coherently combined, thereby ascertaining the signal power of the OFDM signal. The compensating phase shift values may be based on a channel characteristic (e.g., delay spread) or may alternatively be hypothesized.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2007Publication date: May 1, 2008Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Leif Wilhelmsson, Bengt Lindoff

Patent number: 7364179Abstract: A suspension system that requires minimal or no welding and can be easily adapted for use with a variety of frame configurations without adversely affecting the frame integrity. One embodiment includes a top bearing (21), a base bearing (31), an upper clamp (19), and a strut (41). The bearing inserts may be secured with conventional fastening means, for example, adhesives or screws. In one embodiment, a lower spring seat may be secured with a snap ring and heat sensitive materials may be used. Thus, the suspension systems may, if welding is necessary, be installed using standard frame welding practice without the need for extraordinary or special fixtures or procedures. Options are thus now available in component material selection and suspension configuration which have previously been limited because of the heat of welding. This frame integral technology may be used with only minor changes to current fabrication practices.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2005Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Product M, LLCInventors: Howard P. Publication number: 20080093281Abstract: Methods and apparatus for separating solid particles from a fluid. One preferred embodiment includes a tank for settling particles out of the fluid, a conical chamber at the bottom of the tank, an outlet connected to conical chamber, and a conical auger within the conical chamber. The tank may have a tangential inlet that creates a fluid circulation that exerts a centrifugal force on the solid particles to increase the settling of particles out of the fluid. The tank may have a static spiral on the inner wall that helps small particles coalesce into larger particles that settle faster out of the fluid. The fluid content of the solids removed from the tank may be controlled by varying the rotational speed of the conical auger. The rotational speed of the conical auger may be varied depending on the torque required to rotate the conical auger.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Applicant: M-I L.L.C.Inventors: Gary Fout, Neale Browne
