Abstract: Control circuitry and an associated method for a modified-user, wireless communications system, such as a cellular communication system were in groups of mobile transceiver units are positioned to travel together. Circuitry is positioned to travel together with the group of mobile transceiver units and to generate common control requests to control operation of the entire group of mobile transceiver units. When embodied in a cellular communication system, a common hand-off request is generated for the entire group of mobile transceiver units, auguating the need for each transceiver unit to independently generate a hand-off request.

Abstract: An antenna assembly, and an associated method, which exhibits a selected the antenna beam configuration. The direction of a primary lobe and of a null is selected to improve the signal-to-noise and signal-to-interference ratios of communication signals transmitted between two communication stations. When implemented to form a portion of a base station of a cellular communication system, the traffic capacity of the communication system can be increased and the infrastructure costs of the system can be reduced.

The configuration of the adaptive filter (52) advantageously results in only a range of filter taps and coefficients between two specified tap endpoints being involved in filter multiplication, addition, and storage during the echo cancellation operation.

Abstract: A centrifuge system and method according to which a conveyor is disposed in the bowl, and electrical motors are provided for rotating the bowl and the conveyor at different speeds. A DC bus is provided to store electrical energy which is supplied to the conveyor motor to rotate the conveyor if a brownout condition occurs. The bowl is braked in response to the brownout condition to generate electrical energy which is transferred to, and stored by, the DC bus for supplying to the conveyor motor.

Abstract: A three dimensional border for providing a decorative appearance as a crown molding or chair rail that can be installed and removed without damaging the wall or the border. The border has an elongated panel, preferably made of styrofoam, with a front face and a rear face. A form is attached to the front face of the panel with a surface upon a which a decorative treatment can be applied. The rear face is attached to the wall by nails or hooks set in the wall forming a recess in the rear face of the panel as the border is pressed against the wall.

Selective permission of cell selection of communications between the two network portions better assures that the mobile terminal, when positioned in an area intended to be encompassed by one of the network portions, communicates with that network portion.

Abstract: A threaded closure assembly includes a first member having an outer surface including a first outwardly directed thread, and an inner surface including a second inwardly directed thread. A unitary closure member for covering an access opening in the first member includes a first inwardly directed thread engageable with the first outwardly directed thread on the first member, and a second outwardly directed thread engageable with the second inwardly directed thread on the first member. A locking mechanism is provided between the closure member and the first member for permitting rotation of the closure member in a first direction, and preventing rotation of the closure member in a second opposite direction. A third set of threads may be provided between the first member and the closure member. The first member can be an open head container, with the closure member formed as a one-piece lid. The threads between the first member and the closure member are synchronized.

Abstract: The present invention provides a coin chute for use with a coin changer in a vending machine. There is a coin entry path defined by a ramp mounted adjacent a main plate and a backplate. Upon activation of a coin reject lever accessible by a user, the one plate swings away from the other allowing an object jammed in the coin entry path to fall off of the coin entry path into a coin return chute. A kicker urges objects off of the ramp as the plates swing apart. The ramp is also tilted to allow fluid to drain off of the ramp through a gap between the ramp and a plate.

Abstract: A wiring interconnection assembly for interconnecting a plurality of electrical components includes an insulated cable carrier having a body portion, at least one conducting element integrally formed within the body portion, and a connecting module removeably coupled to the cable carrier configured to facilitate connection of each end of the cable carrier to tone of the plurality of electrical components. The connecting module has at least one penetrating member configured to penetrate a portion of the body portion of the cable carrier and contact the conducting element to establish electrical continuity therewith.

Abstract: A device for attaching a grocery or retail plastic bag to an existing trash container is disclosed. The device is to be positioned at the top rim of the trash container. The device has a first pair of hooks so that one of the bag handles may be placed internal of the first pair of hooks for bag support and bag attachment to the device. The device further has a second pair of hooks to attach the device to the top rim of the container. The device has a passageway to provide an unobstructed path for the attachment and the removal of the bag in relation to the container and the device. The device fits on containers of varying shapes and rim configurations. The device has a low profile that permits the placement of a lid on the container.

Abstract: The disclosed invention is a means of transporting items such as those commonly taken to the beach or on a picnic over sandy or otherwise yielding terrain. The device is comprised of a wheeled, collapsible frame including a bottom frame suitable for supporting larger objects such as an ice chest. The disclosed invention also includes an upper frame which supports a pliable receptacle that is of sufficient size to hold a multitude of miscellaneous items such as blankets, beach toys, clothes, food, etc. The invention includes a retractable chair hanger to support a plurality of folding chairs in a hanging fashion thereby providing a stable environment for transporting the chairs with little risk of loosing the chairs when traveling over rough terrain. The frame is such that it allows foldability to such an extent that it collapses to a size that can be easily stored and transported.

Abstract: A Short Message Service (SMS) communication network is interfaced with an Intelligent Network. In response to an indication from a mobile subscriber to transmit unstructured data towards a particular B-number, a serving mobile switching center/visitor location register (MSC/VLR) determines whether the calling party subscriber or called party subscriber is associated with an IN service. In response to an affirmative determination, instead of transmitting the received unstructured data directly to a Short Message Service-Center (SMS-C), the serving MSC/VLR routes an Integrated Service Digital Network User Part (ISUP) signal encapsulating the unstructured data to the associated Intelligent Network. An associated Service Switching Point (SCP) and Service Control Point (SSP) then provide the desired IN service to the received unstructured data.
