  • Patent number: 5991758
Abstract: A system and method for indexing a data record from an information source into a database, the database containing a plurality of data records, is provided comprising receiving a data record from an information source, the received data record having a predetermined number of fields containing information about a particular entity, standardizing and validating the data in the received data record. A system and method is also provided for retrieving records that refer to an entity characterized by a specific set of data values by comparing a predetermined number of fields within the received data record with a predetermined number of fields within the data records already in the database, selecting data records already in the database as candidates having data within some of the predetermined fields that is identical to the data in the fields of the received data record, and scoring the candidates to determine data records having information about the same entity.

  • Patent number: 5971603
Abstract: A static mixer head that provides not only distributive mixing, but also dispersive mixing. Distributive mixing is accomplished by providing a series of baffles along the length of the mixing tube, each baffle being angled relative to the previous baffle. Dispersive mixing is accomplished by utilizing baffles that define a converging pathway for the mixing materials. The converging pathway promotes elongation and corresponding dispersion of the mixing materials. In one embodiment, the baffles are teardrop-shaped, and are arranged so that multiple baffles are generally parallel and adjacent to one another. Preferably, the baffles are oriented such that the mixing materials flow from the small tail portion of the baffles toward the larger head portion of the baffles, thereby encountering a gradual compressive force and corresponding elongation.

  • Patent number: 5653313
Abstract: A brake block comprises a brake pad (1), a support body (2) and indicator device (4) for indicating when the brake pad (1) is worn down to a predetermined level (7), the indicator being visible on the support body (2) and being triggered from a first to a second state when the pad is worn to the predetermined level (7). The second state is more visible than the first state and provides a brake wear indicator which is not readily overlooked. The visible indicator is normally recessed within the confines of the brake block's backing plate or lining support so as to be substantially concealed but is spring-biassed out of the concealed state by triggering structure to be visible to indicate brake wear.
