Abstract: The rubber-blanket plate comprising a carrier plate (2) on which functional layers (3) are arranged. The functional layers (3) include a covering layer (4), a woven-fabric layer (5) and a compressible layer (6). At the two ends of the rubber-blanket plate (FIG. 4a), only the ends of the covering layer (13) extend to the carrier plate (2), whereas the functional layers end before that. As a result, effective protection of the functional layers (3) is attained, and it is possible to use a relatively narrow channel (FIG. 4a) in the printing press cylinder upon which the rubber-blanket plate is mounted. Alternatively, all of the functional layers can extend to the end of the carrier plate.
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for positioning a roll in an inking or damping unit of a rotary press with respect to at least one adjacent roll. The axle of the first roll is mounted in at least one bearing arrangement that is movable with respect to a side wall of the printing unit, and means are provided for determining the position and the pressing forces of the first roll against the adjacent roll. The position and pressing force information is fed to a control device, by means of which the position and the pressing pressure of the first roll can be controlled by combined travel and force regulation.
Abstract: The invention relates to the drive of a printing machine. Cylinders and functional groups are to be driven with low technical expenditure. To this end, all form cylinders in a printing unit, for example, are driven respectively by separate electric motors and are not in mechanical drive connection.

Actuable folding-jaw cheeks are assigned to a first cylinder part of the folding-jaw cylinder and fixed folding-jaw cheeks are assigned to a second cylinder part. Both cylinder parts are assigned one shaft, via which the cylinder parts can be driven rotationally. The erasing and cleaning apparatus further includes at least one coupling module for selectively coupling and decoupling a removable one of the sidewalls of the positioning unit to and from the cassette.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring a tape by spooling is disclosed. A tape is transferred by spooling from a first, unwinding spool onto a second, winding spool, both spools being driven via a drive as a function of a predefined tape tension and/or a predefined tape setpoint speed at a setpoint rotational speed and/or with a setpoint torque. The respective setpoint rotational speed and/or the respective setpoint torque being determined as a function of a geometrical mean of the winding circumferences of the two spools. The geometrical mean of the winding circumferences of the two spools is determined continuously during transfer by spooling.
Abstract: To control the cut register of a web in a web-fed rotary press and to control the web tension decoupled from the control of the cut register, a specific item of image information or measuring marks of the printed web are registered by at least one sensor and the web tension is registered by at least one further sensor. The deviation of the position of the printed image with respect to its intended position, based on the location and time of the cut, is determined from the item of image information and is therefore available as actual values and supplied to a control device. The cut register error and the web tension can be influenced in a manner decoupled from each other.

Abstract: The printing cylinder such as a rubber blanket cylinder of a web fed offset printing machine is provided. The printing cylinder includes a rotatable clamping mechanism in a clamping channel. A side of the clamping channel is configured so as to be movable such that the clamping channel can be opened by turning the clamping mechanism. When the clamping channel is open, the ends of the rubber blanket can be inserted. The clamping channel can then be closed by turning the clamping mechanism in the opposite direction such that the ends of the rubber blanket adjoin one another.
Abstract: At least one mark is integrated into an image data set from a prepress stage, and the mark is scanned in order to automatically determine a region or an extract of the image data set which is relevant to the determination of zonal area coverage values. Zonal area coverage values for a print are determined from the region or extract, and presetting values for the inking zone setting elements are determined from the zonal area coverage values.
Abstract: A printing unit for influencing lateral web spreading in particular in rotary presses, which makes constant contact conditions possible across the width in the rubber-rubber nip and improves the lateral-register quality and the web run without using concave or convex blanket cylinders, has a blanket cylinder and plate cylinders which can be set against the former for printing on one or both sides of a web. The web passes through between the blanket cylinders in a contact zone, it either being possible to skew at least one of the blanket cylinders with respect to the respective plate cylinder or it being possible to skew at least one of the plate cylinders with respect to the respective blanket cylinder, for producing a concave velocity profile on the web.

Abstract: A method for setting the cut register in a web-fed rotary press includes assigning a cut register function to a predetermined speed function, wherein the predetermined speed function describes a time curve of an operating speed of the rotary press starting from a predetermined initial value and the cut register function describes a time curve of the set value of the cut register, and changing the set value of the cut register continuously and synchronously in accordance with the associated cut register function during a variation in the operating speed of the rotary press according to the predetermined speed function, the cut register function being chosen empirically such that it counteracts a change in the actual value of the cut position as a result of the change in the operating speed.
