Abstract: A pipe coupling comprises a cylindrical pipe, whose smooth end section can be slipped onto a fitting that has at least one sleeve-like area extending in the longitudinal direction At least one sealing ring is arranged between the pipe and the fitting. The fitting and the pipe are securely connected to each other by means of an externally applied pressing tool, which acts in a plastically deforming manner on at least one radial plane on the pipe as well as the fitting section located below it. Between the fitting outer wall and the pipe inner wall is arranged a metal sleeve (31), which can be slipped onto the fitting by force. The fixed axial extension of the metal sleeve (31) encompasses the length of the fitting (1) The length of the metal sleeve is selected so as to correspond to the required overlap between the pipe (2.1, 2.

  • Patent number: 6123186
Abstract: A supporting arrangement for the transport belt in thin strip casting plants. The liquid steel is cast onto the circulating transport belt. On its underside, the transport belt has devices for generating a negative pressure and for supporting the belt as well as for cooling. In the past, rollers were used for supporting the belt. Between the supporting points of the belt on the rollers, upward curvatures of the belt may occur. This is avoided by the use of supports of which the spacings measured transversely to the transporting direction are greater than the lengths of the supports in this direction.

  • Patent number: 6122995
Abstract: A torque support mountable between a first housing of a driven unit and a second housing of a driving unit includes a scalloped one-piece plastic base body having a first side connectable with the first housing and a second side connectable with the second housing so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative to both the first housing an the second housing. The first side includes a first planar contact face with through-openings for fastening with the first housing and the second side includes a flange-like edge area with a second planar contact face for resting against the second housing. The plastic piece is injection molded with support webs and includes metal bushings which are arranged perpendicular to the second planar contact face to provide a torque support which is simple and economical to manufacture, mechanically stable, has a certain elasticity and is adaptable to virtually any gear unit connection surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6119826
Abstract: A device for operating a machine element subject to wear-related play, especially for brakes of rail vehicles, includes a pressure-medium-operated piston-cylinder arrangement having a cylinder and operating piston, the piston rod of which is actively connected to a readjustment device that compensates for wear-related play. To realize a simple and compact structure and create further prerequisites for active integration into an operating system, the readjustment device comprises a readjustment piston mounted in the piston-cylinder arrangement between the operating piston and the bottom of the cylinder and acts as a limit stop for the operating piston. For axial arresting the readjustment piston, a coaxial piston rod shoulder that faces the bottom of the cylinder and a holding element resting on the bottom of the cylinder form an arresting arrangement that permits movement of the readjustment piston toward the operating piston and blocks a counter movement of the readjustment piston.

  • Patent number: 6102372
Abstract: A rope arrangement having carrying ropes guided downward in pairs at four corner points of an imaginary four-cornered shape at a carrying device. One of the carrying ropes extends from one of the corner points of one transverse side of the imaginary four-cornered shape and another of the carrying ropes extends from the other corner point of the same transverse side. The carrying ropes are at a spread angle relative to one another and in a plane extending parallel to the transverse side. Spaced fastening locations of the pairs of carrying ropes provided at an attachment device lie in at least one vertical plane which intersects the transverse sides transversely in the center. In order to achieve a damping of load oscillations in any direction, two carrying ropes are respectively fastened to the corner points and accordingly to the fastening locations of the carrying device and the planes associated with the pairs of carrying ropes are inclined relative to one another at an angle (.beta.

  • Patent number: 6092783
Abstract: An electropneumatic pressure regulating valve has an electromagnet fastened, as an actuating drive, to a valve housing. At least one work connection and a deaeration connection in the valve housing are guided, respectively, to a work chamber and deaeration chamber arranged inside the valve housing. The work chamber and the deaeration chamber are separated from one another by a valve seat corresponding to a valve tappet as closing element. The valve tappet proceeds from the electromagnet and is movable longitudinally through the work chamber via a movable magnet armature of the electromagnet. To improve the deaeration behavior and to achieve a more precise control capability during deaeration, the valve tappet has a through-hole which is directed longitudinally proceeding from its lower disk face and which opens into a pressure-tight coil interior space within the electromagnet. The coil interior space is sealed against the work chamber by a seal which enables the longitudinal movability of the valve tappet.

  • Patent number: 6093235
Abstract: A process for decarburizing a steel melt for the production of high-chromium steels by blowing in oxygen in which the decarburization rate is continuously measured and the amount of oxygen to be injected is adjusted depending on the measured values. The following controlled quantities are calculated:a) the duration of the Al--Si oxidation phase at the start of the decarburization process,b) the duration of a principle decarburization phase immediately following the Al--Si oxidation phase until the transition point from the decarburization reaction to the metal oxidation is reached, andc) the decarburization rate in the principal decarburization phase. The injected oxygen quantity is increased at an accelerated rate immediately following the Al--Si oxidation phase to the oxygen quantity of the principal decarburization phase until the decarburization rate calculated in c) is reached.
