    Abstract: A power management scheme for use by subscriber equipment in wireless local area networks (WLAN) takes advantage to two different power management modes recognized by relevant standards. The addition of a media activity sensor and timer to a normal inactivity timer allows a WLAN to receive data in a first mode when activity is continuous and switch to a second, polling, mode when it appears that no more data is available. Using the combination of modes allows starting a download using a receive-only mode and switching to a polling mode when the media activity timer expires. The receive-only mode saves power over a continuous polling mode but changing to the polling mode at the end of a receive cycle saves power associated with the long inactivity timeout period of the continuous receive mode.

    Abstract: An interface system includes a first driver module that communicates through a bus with a first peripheral card when the bus is in a first mode. A second driver module communicates through the bus with a second peripheral card when the bus is in a second mode. A bus control module receives a communication notification signal from the second peripheral card when the first peripheral card is communicating with the first driver module. The communication notification signal does not interfere with the communication of the first peripheral card and the first driver module. The bus control module switches the bus between first and second modes in response to the communication notification signal.

    Abstract: A QC-LDPC decoding system employing a trapping set look-up table is provided. The QC-LDPC decoding system includes an iterative decoder that utilizes a message-passing algorithm to decode a received codeword. If the iterative decoder fails to produce a valid codeword, additional processing is performed to decode the received codeword. The additional processing includes the steps of computing the syndrome pattern of the received codeword, searching the look-up table for a trapping set class that is responsible for the iterative decoder's failure, retrieving from the look-up table a syndrome pattern and an error pattern of a member of the responsible trapping set class, and calculating the error pattern of the received codeword based on its syndrome pattern and the information retrieved from the look-up table. The received codeword is then corrected based on its error pattern.

The context memory controller may be adapted to control communication of context values between the pixel processor and the context memory. Further, the context memory controller may be responsive to a context initialization signal or the like provided by the pixel processor to initialize the content of the context memory to a known state, even before the pixel processor has completed its image processing operations and/or immediately after completion of its image processing operations. In one embodiment, the pixel processor executes a JBIG coding operation on the target pixel.

In another embodiment, the branch metrics for the defective data, which otherwise would be combined with a priori LLRs from an outer decoder of a prior stage, are ignored so that the a priori LLRs themselves are used alone.     Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for reducing RRO in storage systems. A disc may be partitioned into a number of equally spaced sectors. An RRO profile may be individually obtained for each sector, a runout control algorithm may be applied to each sector to generate an RROC waveform for the sector to suppress the RRO, and sector RROC waveforms may be assembled into an RROC waveform for a whole revolution and saved in a memory buffer for feed-forward control. The RROC is performed in the time domain, and it may be adapted for each sector to reject the RRO disturbance.

The slot allocations are determined so as to maximize the minimum of the weighted data rates of the remote stations. Slots may be allocated using a data rate assigner to assign a first data rate to each remote station for communication using slots of the first frequency reuse zone, and using a slot allocation provider to provide a respective slot allocation for each remote station.
