  • Patent number: 4108135
Abstract: An arrangement for external oiling of cylinder liners of internal combustion engines. The cylinder liners are flanged and are inserted directly into the bores of the cylinder block. An annular chamber is provided in the bores and/or the cylinder liners near the cylinder head. The annular chamber is connected to a feed line for the supply of engine lubricating oil. From the annular chamber, especially in order to prevent fretting corrosion, the engine lubricating oil, uniformly distributed over the circumference and partly in a pulsating fashion, slowly seeps downwardly through the clearance between the bore and the cylinder liner. The lubricating oil then flows into the oil pan.

  • Patent number: 4106289
Abstract: Connecting exhaust ducts of gradually widening cross section lead from the exhaust ports of a particular cylinder to a common manifold, being continued inside the manifold for a length greater than half of the diameter of the manifold and leaving an outflow cross section between the end of the connecting duct and the facing wall of the manifold equal to or slightly greater than the exit cross section of the connecting duct. Between junctions with the connecting ducts the manifold has sections of constricted cross section, providing baffling between the connecting ducts. The arrangement enables the kinetic energy of the outflow of exhaust gas to be more effectively utilized for sucking in the scavenging air.

  • Patent number: 4102600
Abstract: A blade ring of high circumferential speed for thermal axially passed through turbines, especially for the last stage of condensing steam turbines, having at least the radially outer portion of its blades lying within the range of transsonic flow or within the range of supersonic flow. Each blade of the blade ring changes from the profile at the foot portion of the blade toward the tip of the blade into a profile defined to a major extent by straight lines or by only slightly curved lines. This profile is about one half of its length at its upper region provided with a slot along the longitudinal axis of the blade. This profile which thus has two sections has one of these sections with its exit edge turned relative to the other section by an angle corresponding to the post-expansion of the supersonic flow into such a direction that the profile part with the exit edge lies in the flow-off direction.

  • Patent number: 4099102
Abstract: A high shelf feeding apparatus is movable on rollers riding on rails. It is moved either by motor driven friction gear drive means or by a linear motor means. In either case, the drive elements are operated at the same acceleration or at the same number of revolutions by connecting each drive element with a regulating mechanism which measures the distance travelled by each drive element and then balances each such measured distance in relation to a rated value common to all regulating mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4044731
Abstract: A threaded cap screwed into the piston head with a sealed joint to a sleeve tube open and flanged at the other end are provided to encase the clamping screws that fasten the piston head and the upper piston body member and lower piston body member together. The casing thus formed shields the screws from possibly corrosive coolant that under operating conditions could work through the joints between the parts of a composite piston in spite of the clamping pressure of the screws. Each screw is screwed into the threaded cap at the piston head end and its head or a nut bears on the flange of the sleeve tube at the other end. The screws and their protective casings fit within bores in an annular strut forming a large part of the upper piston body member that butts against a low annular ridge on the underside of the piston head into which the end caps of the screw casings are screwed.

  • Patent number: 4040163
Abstract: Very light weight containers are made of synthetic resin reinforced by fiber material, such as glass fibers or carbon fibers, by first manufacturing a hollow dimensionally precise core having the shape of the container and including access openings at each end of the container. The composite material is then applied to the prefabricated core and after the setting of the composite material the core is either completely or partially removed by chemical means, which are pumped through the inside of the container to etch away the core, which is, for example, made of aluminum. A very controlled and precise core removal may be accomplished in this manner.

  • Patent number: 3938913
Abstract: A flow machine for pumping and/or measuring the flow of agressive, radioactive, or special-purity flow mediums. The flow machine is provided with a rotatable impeller magnetically supported within a machine casing such that the impeller is spaced at all points from the inside walls of the machine casing.
