Abstract: 4-Diphenyl-1-[(oxo and oxo-related alkyl)imino]methyl-piperidine derivatives are disclosed which are useful for the inhibition of gastric acid secretion.
Abstract: The analgesic effect of zomepirac is potentiated by simultaneously or sequentially administering to a subject suffering from pain, butorphanol, in a nonanalgesic amount thereby significantly reducing the dosage of zomepirac.
Abstract: A disposable gas sensor, such as for monitoring pO.sub.2 in blood or administered gases, includes a housing, a passageway therein for blood or gas, a membrane-anode-cathode polarographic assembly, and a temperature sensing element. The temperature sensing element penetrates the housing and includes a removable thermistor, which is matable with the housing for thermal contact with a metallic element, and which in turn is in direct contact with the fluid being monitored.
Abstract: N-(Mono- and (di-substituted phenyl)-N'-(2-imidazolidinylidene)urea compounds and acid addition salts thereof are taught, which are useful as antihypertensive agents.
Abstract: 5-(Arylcyanohydroxymethyl)-1-loweralkylpyrrole-2-acetic acid derivatives are prepared by the protic acid catalyzed reaction of aroylcyanides with 1-loweralkylpyrrole-2-acetic acid derivatives, which is then converted by treatment with alkali metal hydroxides or heat to form 5-aroyl-1-loweralkylpyrrole-2-acetic acid or derivatives thereof.
Abstract: A process for controlling hypertension employing N-(substituted-phenyl)-N'-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydroprimidin-2-yl)ureas, and pharmaceutical compositions containing said ureas is described.
Abstract: N-H and N-loweralkyl pyrrole-2-acetic acids are prepared by the reduction of 1-H and 1-loweralkyl-.alpha.-trichloromethylpyrrole-2-methanol with sodium dithionite (sodium hydrosulfite) in the presence of a base, MOH, wherein M is an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or tetraalkyl ammonium.
Abstract: A partially disposable, partially reusable polarographic sensor includes a fixed membrane and gel electrolyte in the disposable portion, and includes all electrical/metallic parts in the reusable portion. The disposable portion comprises a housing having a flow chamber for fluids to be monitored, adjacent to which is the membrane. Behind the membrane is the gel electrolyte, and a screw structure for engaging the reusable part. In turn, the reusable part employs a matable screw portion, and a fixed, coaxial anode-cathode assembly, which when mounted to the disposable portion, engages the membrane.
Abstract: Known types of 5-aroyl-1-loweralkylpyrrole-2-acetic acid derivatives are prepared by the thermal reaction of an aroylcyanide with a 1-alkylpyrrole-2-acetic acid derivative.
Abstract: A method for producing analgesia by administering a 4-(1,3-dihydro-1-oxo-2H-isoindol-2-yl)-.alpha.-methylbenzeneacetic acid compound with acetaminophen, and compositions therefor.
