  • Patent number: 11147266
Abstract: Effective delivery of an insecticide to a growing plant can sometimes be problematic. Topical delivery of an insecticide at the post-emergence stage of growth can sometimes be ineffective. It can also be difficult to deliver an insecticide to the roots of a growing plant, such as to combat a subsurface insect infestation. Accordingly, soil blends having insecticidal activity can comprise a soil medium, a porous soil additive, and an insecticide dispersed within the soil medium. Such soil blends may be used in conjunction with cultivating a variety of plants. Methods for producing the soil blends can comprise providing a soil medium and a porous soil additive, and dispersing the porous soil additive and an insecticide within the soil medium.

  • Patent number: 11090443
Abstract: A single-use cover assembly that obscures a substantial majority or an entirety of an injection needle from view before, during, and after an injection procedure. The cover assembly includes a housing and a needle sleeve that retracts and extends by sliding axially within the housing. The needle sleeve carries a locking collar that moves from a first position to a second position once the needle sleeve is fully retracted. In the first position the locking collar allows retraction of the needle sleeve from a fully extended position. In the second position, a portion of the locking collar covers a tip of the needle, thereby preventing retraction of the needle sleeve from the fully extended position.

  • Patent number: 11083464
Abstract: A system and method for sealing openings in a body of a patient made by a medical procedure or non-medical event. The opening may be formed in soft tissue, internal organs, or hard tissue. A coaxial needle is inserted into a patient and a coagulating agent is inserted into the patient via the coaxial needle. The coagulating agent is discharged adjacent to the opening and the coaxial needle is inserted to a surgical depth. Following the procedure, the coaxial needle is retracted to a plug discharging depth. A bioabsorbable plug in at least a partially dehydrated state is then discharged from the coaxial needle and the coaxial needle is removed. The plug resides at least partially within the opening in the organ or tissue created by the coaxial needle. The combination of the coagulating agent and the expandable plug seals the opening created by the coaxial needle.

  • Patent number: 11077302
Abstract: A fitting system is described for fitting electrode contacts of cochlear implant electrode array implanted in a cochlea of an implanted patient. A test stimulation generator delivers to at least one of the electrode contacts a test stimulation sequence at a variable charge level and a variable stimulation rate over time, wherein the charge level and stimulation rate are inversely related as a function of a defined loudness percept by the implanted patient to the test stimulation sequence. A response measurement module obtains objective response measurements of auditory neural tissues of the implanted patient that are affected by the test stimulation sequence. A fit mapping module defines a patient-specific fit map for the electrode contacts of cochlear implant electrode array based on the objective response measurements.
