  • Patent number: 5980315
Abstract: A connector for a coaxial cable is provided which has been miniaturized for facilitating its handling and storage, and also for reducing the cost and the number of its electric contact points. The cylindrical connector main body is fitted onto the end of the coaxial cable and secured thereto. In this case, the split clamp which is fitted around the external conductor is engaged in the concave stage portion so as to expose the edge of the external conductor. Hexagon socket head cap screws are screwed into the attachment holes so as to incorporate the contact spacer into the connector main body. As a result, the edge of the external conductor is bent on the outer side along the split clamp to form a flare unit, which is contacted and pressed against the base end surface of the contact spacer and electrically connected. The central contact is made up of a bar-like member integral with the anchor unit with grooves and the male thread unit in order to reduce its size in the cable axis X direction.

  • Patent number: 5958323
Abstract: A mandrel of a high frequency heating type, comprising a conductive layer comprising a metal member having an aspect ratio of at least 100, in a proportion of at least 60% by volume, and a surface layer formed thereon which is made from an organic polymer, and a method for producing a rubber hose using the mandrel. Inasmuch as the inventive mandrel enables heating the curable rubber extruded on the mandrel, from the inner surface side thereof, the curing time of the rubber can be drastically reduced. Moreover, since the surface layer of the mandrel is composed of an organic polymer, the mandrel can be easily pulled out from the cured rubber layer. The production method of the present invention is free of the difficulty in heating the inside of the rubber layer. The concurrent application of external heating has accomplished continuous production of rubber hose.

  • Patent number: 5921367
Abstract: A safety device detects when a worker's hand enters a hazardous region between rollers of a kneading machine, and stops rotation of the rolls to prevent an accident. Each time the rollers are stopped, the orientation of photoelectric sensors is switched from the vicinity of the gap between the two rollers to a test reflection member, and the quantity of received light is compared to a predetermined value, to prevent workers form starting work without knowing a fault or accident has happened. More specifically, a bar electrode of an electrostatic capacitance sensor is disposed above and near the gap between the two rollers, for detecting a physical quantity that is changed by entry of a worker's hand. When the electrostatic capacitance detected by the sensor exceeds a predetermined value, a judging circuit supplies a control signal to stop a driving unit that operates the kneading machine. Heat ray sensors or photoelectric sensors may be used as alternatives to electrostatic sensors.

  • Patent number: 5860656
Abstract: When a rotating shaft is at a standstill, a first sealing lip of a first sealing element comes elastically into contact with the shaft, thereby preventing a fluid leakage. Annular grooves are formed on the inner peripheral surface of a second sealing lip of a second sealing element so that a wide contact surface pressure can be obtained between each two adjacent grooves. Accordingly, a fluid leaked from the first sealing element is prevented from leaking to the low-pressure side by means of the second sealing lip. When the rotating shaft is rotating, moreover, the fluid from a fluid chamber is allowed to permeate the gap between the outer peripheral surface of the shaft and the inner peripheral surface of the first sealing lip. Thus, the inner peripheral surface of the first sealing lip is lubricated by means of the fluid, so that the first sealing lip can be prevented from wearing or heating.

  • Patent number: 5810717
Abstract: A bending mechanism for use with a stereoscope, comprises a tubular body or linear body having a bending part, a movable part which can move in the lengthwise direction of the tubular body or linear body, two actuators formed to act in opposition to each other via the movable part, and a pull wire which extends in the lengthwise direction along the bending part. One end of the wire is fixed to one end side of the bending part and the other end of the wire is fixed to the movable part set at the other end side of the bending part. At least one of the two actuators is a shape memory element. The bending mechanism of the present invention is free from displacement of the movable part when bending action is not needed, since the two actuators are used which act in opposition to each other via the movable part, and thus, buckling of the bending part can be prevented. The simple structure of the activator unit of the present invention facilitates a reduction of the size of the structure.

  • Patent number: 5731271
Abstract: A method for growing a superconductive film, comprising:(a) helically winding a tape substrate around the outer periphery of a cylindrical or columnar holder and(b) growing a superconductive film on the surface of the tape substrate by plasma flash evaporation, while rotating the holder. According to the present invention, the heat contact between the holder and the tape substrate is stabilized and a high performance tape conductor can be obtained. In addition, degradation of superconductive performance possibly experienced, when the tape is used for a transmission cable or the like, can be lessened. Furthermore, the large area growth, which is the characteristic feature of plasma flash evaporation, is effectively utilized and production efficiency of a long tape conductor can be enhanced.
