  • Patent number: 5097169
Abstract: A brushless alternator for a vehicle comprising a field coil holding device formed by mounting a field coil winding spool directly on a field core using a bonding agent thus eliminating the need for a metallic cylindrical spool holder which requires precise machining in order to engage with the field core for welding. With this arrangement, a simple and inexpensive field coil holding device eliminates former precise machining. In addition, a field coil can be wound around the field coil winding spool in advance, before bonding to the field core.

  • Patent number: 5094333
Abstract: A current control device for an automotive electromagnetic clutch includes a first and a second transistor 8 and 13 and a current detector resistor 14, which are coupled in series with the electromagnetic clutch 4. A PWM modulator 7 controls the ON/OFF of the first transistor to control the amount of excitation current flowing through the electromagnetic clutch. The second transistor turns off the excitation current in response to the disconnection signal SO for the electromagnetic clutch. The current detector 6 detects the current flowing through the resistor 14, and the amount of current through the electromagnetic clutch is controlled to a target valve via the calculation means 2, the deviation amplifier 5, and the PWM modulator 7. The error in current detection due to the current flowing through the reverse excitation resistor 12 is eliminated by the insertion of a transistor 17 controlled in response to the clutch disconnection signal SO by a transistor 19 (FIG. 2).

  • Patent number: 5089804
Abstract: The short-circuit and ground fault detecting apparatus for automotive electromagnetic clutches consists of a clutch current calculating device, a clutch current control device, and a clutchoutput cir;cuit operation detecting device. The clutch current control device has two output transistors on the positive and negative side of the clutch, serving as switches connected to current supply mechanisms of the magnetic clutch. The magnetic clutch is energized and deenergized by turning on and off the output transistors. The voltages at the output transistors are sent to the clutch output circuit operation detecting device, where they are removed of ripples and converted into digital signals and then fed back to the clutch current calculating device, which in turn checks the digitized voltages for any fault.
