  • Patent number: 5132509
Abstract: A laser beam reflector for reflecting a laser beam from a laser oscillator in a direction away from said laser oscillator includes a mirror holder, a mirror retainer removably coupled to the mirror holder, a bend mirror coupled to the mirror retainer for reflecting the laser beam, and a detecting device for detecting a positional relationship between the mirror holder and the mirror retainer. A laser beam cutting machine utilizes the laser beam reflector. When the mirror holder and mirror retainer are coupled properly, laser oscillation is performed. When the mirror retainer and holder are coupled improperly, laser oscillation is terminated immediately by a control device of the laser beam cutting machine.

  • Patent number: 5132896
Abstract: An inverter unit for driving a motor with multi-phased currents, each of the phases being derived from a.c. input voltages that are applied to respective input terminals, rectified and smoothed by capacitors before being applied to parallel-connected switching elements to develop each of the phased a.c. outputs. The capacitors may be connected in series and/or in parallel together with the switching elements. In order to reduce the effect of the distributed inductance contributed by the conductors used to connect the capacitances and switches, and thus the need for large snubber capacitances to compensate for the distributed inductances, the connectors are given a geometry and an orientation that causes the inductances to be minimized. Specifically, the conductors are of a bus-plate form, having a large area for improving heat dissipation, and an orientation so that the magnitude and direction of currents flowing through the bus-plates tend to minimize the effect of the distributed inductances.

  • Patent number: 5130497
Abstract: An insulating spacer comprises a plurality of unit spacers each of which has a hollow portion. The unit spacers are disposed between two members, such as electrodes, so that side walls of peripheral portions of the unit spacers are not aligned on a plane between the two members. There is no possibility that the space between the two members may be filled, for the most part, with insulating solid material; and a narrow gap may be present at the remaining minor part of the space. Therefore, there is no possibility of a local concentration of electric field between the two members.

  • Patent number: 5126583
Abstract: In a starter, the pinion, which is rotated by torque of an electric motor, is slid axially by the plunger of an electromagnetic switch and is pushed against the engine ring gear by a conically coiled compression coil, which allows employment of a small electromagnetic switch. Further, in an electromagnetic switch in which the plunger confronted coaxially with the stationary iron core slidably supporting a rod with a movable contact is moved towards the stationary iron core by electromagnetic force, a conically coiled spring is interposed between the plunger and the stationary iron core in such a manner that the spring is substantially coaxial with the plunger and the iron core, so that the playing of the rod is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5126582
Abstract: An engine starter/generator has a rotor which rotates on excitation caused by an exciting winding, a speed reducer which reduces the speed of rotation of the rotor, a first clutch which transmits the rotation of the rotor, the speed of which has been reduced through the speed reducer, to an output shaft of an engine, and a second clutch which is disposed between the engine output shaft and the rotor to connect together these two members when the speed of rotation of the engine output shaft is greater than that of the rotor. The speed reducer and at least either one of the first and second clutches are disposed substantially axially in line with one another. This arrangement reduces the radial dimension of the engine starter/generator. It can, therefore, be disposed with in the engine room of a vehicle without difficulty.

  • Patent number: 5123390
Abstract: An ignition control apparatus for an engine which includes an ignition circuit for igniting a cylinder, and an ignition timing controller for controlling the ignition circuit so as to properly control the ignition timing of each cylinder. The ignition timing controller includes a first signal generator for generating a reference signal corresponding to a prescribed crank position of the cylinder in sync with the rotation of the engine, a second signal generator for generating a pulse signal in sync with the rotation of the engine. The pulse signal contains a prescribed number of pulses per revolution of the engine. A pulse counting circuit starts to count the number of pulses generated by the second signal generator from the time of occurence of the reference signal and generates an ignition signal for the ignition circuit so as to ignite the cylinder when it counts a prescribed number of pulses generated by the second signal generator.

  • Patent number: 5122716
Abstract: A reversible control apparatus for controlling a motor is provided which is highly durable, weather proof, simple in structure and inexpensive to manufacture. The motor is controllably driven by a motor driver. A target rotational speed determiner determines a target rotational speed for the motor and generates a corresponding output signal. A rotational speed sensor senses the rotational speed of the motor and generates a corresponding output signal having no polarity which indicates the direction of rotation of the motor. A motor controller controls the motor driver. A polarity applying means applies a polarity to the output signal of the rotational speed sensor on the basis of the output signal of the target rotational speed signal and the output signal of the motor controller.
