  • Patent number: 5216217
Abstract: Accurate control of the tension of a wire electrode in a wirecut electrical discharge machine is achieved by eliminating a direct-current (DC) component from a speed difference signal between a braking section and a recovery section of the machine. The DC component of the speed signal which is eliminated is associated with the stretching of the wire electrode while under tension. As a result, the tension can be maintained constant dynamically as well as statically, thereby improving machining accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5215159
Abstract: A system for controlling running of a vehicle comprises a switch for setting a slow-run mode, a sensor for detecting that the brake is being applied, a driving force control device mechanically separated from the accelerator for controlling a driving force of the vehicle, a sensor for detecting the running speed of the vehicle, a switch for setting a slow-run speed command signal. A target speed is generated on the basis of information concerning the brake activation and, the running speed of the vehicle and the slow-run speed command signal value. In the slow-run mode, when the brake is not applied, the driving force control device is driven to cause the vehicle to run at the target slow-run speed, and when the brake is applied, the driving force control device is driven so that no driving force is produced at least in the direction of travel of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5214446
Abstract: A gradation record printer in which an amount of energy applied to a thermal head is controlled in response to a gradation level of an input image signal to print an image on a printing medium with gradations. The printer comprises a gradation density detecting unit for storing data of standard density patterns with respect to address values corresponding to gradation levels and for outputting a coincidence signal when data supplied from an outside of the gradation density detecting unit substantially coincides with the data of standard density patterns. A gradation test print circuit is used to apply data of different amounts of printing energy to the thermal head sequentially to make a gradation test print on the printing medium. A density detecting sensor detects densities of the gradation test print and applies a detection output from the density detecting sensor to the gradation density detecting unit.

  • Patent number: 5200591
Abstract: An electric discharge contour machining method in which a plurality of rod-shaped portions having different outer diameters on one rod-shaped electrode are used to machine the contour shape of a workpiece. The workpiece is selectively machined in any of a plurality of contours by the single electrode having an optimum electrode diameter for each selected contour. Specifically, the method uses one rod-shaped electrode having a plurality of rod-shaped portions, each portion having a different outer diameter such that the workpiece contour having a small inner corner of first radius R is machined by the electrode portion having a small outer diameter and the workpiece contour having a large inner corner of second radius R is machined by the electrode portion having a large outer diameter.

  • Patent number: 5199309
Abstract: In a starter unit, the internal gear frame of an epicycle reduction gear is set rotatable with respect to the front bracket, and a first over-running clutch is made up of a clutch outer fixed to the front bracket, and a clutch inner which is the front end portion of the internal gear frame, and a second over-running clutch which is a conventional over-running clutch is mounted on the output shaft. The provision of the two over-running clutches eliminates the difficulty that, when the start switch is turned on during the inertial rotation of the engine or starter unit, the pinion is reengaged with the ring gear, so that abnormal shock is applied to the side of the starter unit to damage the rotation transmitting members.

  • Patent number: 5195389
Abstract: A planetary speed reduction gear type starter comprising a planetary speed reduction gear unit and a DC motor is designed as follows: In the case where the motor is smaller in outside diameter than the planetary speed reduction gear unit, the inside diameter of the yoke is accordingly reduced; that is, the front end portion of the yoke is increased in inside diameter into a large diameter portion. The planetary speed reduction gear unit is fitted in the large diameter portion, with the front end of which a front bracket is engaged. Thus, only one kind of front bracket can be used for a plurality of planetary speed reduction gear type starters different in reduction gear ratio.
