  • Patent number: 5153840
Abstract: A device for creating stitching data for use by a sewing machine includes a tablet digitizer having a pattern entry area and menu area for which data for a stitching pattern in a forward direction is entered by a cursor. The data entry device operates in conjunction with a storage, under CPU control, to store the input stitching data in an input order. Reverse stitching data is generated automatically from the input data by an apparatus which is operative to read the forward direction stitching data in reverse order, analyze the content of the data, translate the identified data into reverse stitching data and write the reverse stitching commands into memory. The forward stitching data and automatically generated reverse stitching data are stored in a ROM for use by the sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 5150578
Abstract: In a cryostat comprising a cryogen container for containing a liquid cryogen, and a refrigerator for recondensing a cryogen gas resulting from evaporating of the liquid cryogen, the pressure within the cryogen container is detected, and when the pressure falls to a negative value due to excessive cooling, a heater is turned on to raise the temperature thereby to enhance the evaporation. As an alternative, the refrigerator may be turned off or its power may be lowered. This will increase the pressure within the cryogen container. When the pressure rises to a positive value, the heater is turned off or the refrigerator is turned on or its power is raised. Through such control, the pressure can be maintained at a constant, positive value. As a result, deformation of the cryogen container due to pressure variation is avoided, and deformation of the superconducting coil wound on the cryogen container is avoided, and the magnetic field strength and the magnetic field uniformity can be maintained constant.

  • Patent number: 5151898
Abstract: A ring-shaped data communications network in which plural slave stations and a master station are serially connected in a closed loop via transmission lines, the slave stations being removably connected to the loop without affecting the continuity of data transmission on the loop. A connection box, permanently connected into the loop and adapted to receive the removable slave station, has circuitry for switching the data loop paths through the slave station. Switching of the data loop occurs when the slave station has been physically connected to the connection box and when a non-communicating portion of the data stream in the loop has been received at the connection box. Apparatus for detecting the connection of the slave station to the box and for detecting the absence of information in the data stream controls operation of the switching.

  • Patent number: 5149931
Abstract: A power source for electric discharge machining, which performs a semi-mirror-finish machining operation with a surface roughness of 1 .mu.m Rmax or less. The power source includes either a resonance circuit or an impedance matching circuit so that the electric discharge is carried out under the condition that resonance is caused to occur with the capacitance of an interelectrode gap between an electrode and a workpiece to be machined or the impedance-matching is effected in response to variation in interelectrode condition. With such a power source, it is possible to eliminate the effect of the stray capacitance exsiting in a current supplying line and also to eliminate the shortcoming due to variation on the interelectrode condition, and therefore a mirror-finished machining operation can be stably carried out to provide machined surfaces excellent in surface roughness.

  • Patent number: 5150305
Abstract: A numerical control system in which possible interference between tools can be checked on a graphics display unit and corrected, and complex workpiece and cutting path shapes are displayed without interference. In accordance with the invention, actual tool shapes in simplified form are displayed for checking interference. Two display memories are provided so that, while one of the display memories is being used for active display, data can be written into or erased from the other. When the data entry and removal is complete, the display memories are switched over so that the time during which portions of the displayed image disappear from the screen is reduced to a negligible length. The workpiece shape is displayed as a shaded area, and any area in which a tool tip interferes is eliminated during simulated machining of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5144871
Abstract: A screw cutting method for use with a numerically controlled machining system is improved by enabling finer finishing of the final screw surface. The invention allows the removal of scars formed during rough machining by offsetting the position of the rough machining passes in the direction of screw cutting, i.e., in the direction of movement of the tool during cutting, so that during the final finishing pass, more material is removed from the screw surface opposing the cutting direction. Surface finish is further improved by specifically controlling the cutting depth in the cutting passes just preceeding the final cutting pass.

  • Patent number: 5144212
Abstract: The invention relates to a display processing apparatus which may be used in instances when a single display is to be used to represent multiple parameters whose values may be correlated or interrelated with one another. The invention is particularly useful when simultaneously displaying a plot of position vs. time and some other parameter whose value changes with position, time, or both. Correlative display is made possible by a technique which samples the values of all of the related parameters at intervals, and stores the sampled values along with an indication of the elapsed time. In this manner, positional or other parametric data corresponding to distinct points or ranges of time can be extracted and displayed in time-correlated fashion.
