The polypropylene stretched film and a polypropylene multi-layer stretched film have excellent water-vapor barrier properties and transparency, and a high Young's modulus.

    Abstract: A polyolefin multilayer laminate in which a first layer (A) made of a cycloolefin-based resin, such as an ethylene/cycloolefin random copolymer resulting from copolymerization of ethylene and a cycloolefin represented by the formula (1) given below, or a cycloolefin-based resin blend and a second layer (B) made of an olefin (co)polymer or a composition containing it are laminated. This laminate can be used as a packaging material which is superior in the interlayer adhesion, shapability, moistureproof property, transparency, flexibility, easiness of hand-cutting, heat-sealability and dead-hold property. Formula (1) comprises ##STR1## in which n and q are 0 or 1, m is 0 or any positive integer, R.sup.1 -R.sup.18 and R.sup.a and R.sup.b denote each H, a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon group, wherein R.sup.15 -R.sup.18 may form, by combining with each other, a monocyclic or polycyclic ring, which may have double bond(s), and wherein R.sup.15 -R.sup.16 may have terminal-located alkylidene group.

    Abstract: A packaging laminate material comprises a paper substrate and a polyester resin layer provided on at least the innermost surface side of the substrate, wherein the polyester resin comprises dicarboxylic acid units comprising terephthalic acid and adipic acid and dihydroxy compound units comprising ethylene glycol and a second different dihydroxy compound. The polyester may also contain polyfunctional units derived from a polycarboxylic acid having a valence of 3 or more and/or derived from a polyglycol having a valence of 3 or more. The packaging laminate has a high heat-sealing strength, a small decrease in the heat-sealing strength even after the laminate is subjected to a hot water treatment or a hot hydrogen peroxide treatment, and is excellent in scent (odor) retention properties.

A further method comprises a purification treatment comprising:(a) a distilling step;(b) a depolymerizing step; and(c) a decoloring step.

    Abstract: Mercury is removed from a liquid hydrocarbon fraction by effecting high-temperature heat treatment to convert an organic mercury compound into an inorganic mercury compound or elemental mercury, removing a higher molecular weight component from the fraction, removing water from the fraction, and thereafter contacting the fraction with an adsorbent in the form of active carbon having calcium or a calcium compound supported thereon. Although only a minor amount of mercury is contained in the liquid hydrocarbon fraction, mercury can be efficiently removed at low cost on an industrial large scale, achieving an extremely low mercury concentration.

Also disclosed in a container formed from the resin laminate. The resin laminate is excellent in hygienic qualities, transparency, flexibility and heat resistance. The container is hardly distorted even when subjected to a sterilization process under severe conditions, and is excellent in heat resistance, sealing strength, drop strength, transparency and flexibility.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a laminated film or sheet comprising poly-4-methyl-1-pentene laminated on a paper layer. By using poly-4-methyl-1-pentene having a low melting point, formation of cracks and other defects in the resin layer is prevented and the oil and fat impermeability is improved. If an intermediate layer of a specific polymer is formed in addition to the poly-4-methyl-1-pentene layer, the oil and fat impermeability is further improved. A box-shaped vessel (carton) and a release paper for an artificial leather can be prepared from this laminated film or sheet.
