    Abstract: The olefin polymer composition according to the invention comprises [I] an (.alpha.-olefin/polyene copolymer-containing polymer in an amount of 0.005 to 99 by weight, said .alpha.-olefin/polyene copolymer-containing polymer comprising (i) an .alpha.-olefin/polyene copolymer and (ii) a polyethylene, and [II] a polyethylene in an amount of 1 to 99.995% by weight. The olefin polymer composition comprising the .alpha.-olefin/polyene copolymer-containing polymer [I] and the olefin polymer [II] has a high melt tension and an excellent moldability in an inflation molding, and further it can be molded into a large sized container, etc. by means of a blow molding or the like.

    Abstract: A multi-layer film is described having an outer layer containing a linear ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer, an intermediate layer containing a linear ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer, and an inner layer containing a resin in which a predetermined amount of polypropylene is contained in a linear ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer, wherein each component has a predetermined density, respectively, and a predetermined amount of a high-density polyethylene is contained in all layers, and a container using the film. There is no fear of a decrease in sealing strength, deformation, deterioration of transparency, etc., even if sterilization is conducted at a temperature condition of not less than 120.degree. C., and, furthermore, the easy peelable seal part is stable even if the film is molded into a container having a plurality of chambers. Therefore, the resulting container can be suitably used for an infusion bag, etc.

    Abstract: A process for the production of lower olefins by dehydrating lower alcohols having 2 to 4 carbon atoms which comprises using a .gamma.-alumina catalyst containing 0.3% by weight or less of impurities in total excluding SiO.sub.2, the impurities including 0.2% by weight or less of sulfur content calculated in terms of SO.sub.4 - and 0.05% by weight or less of sodium content calculated in terms of Na.sub.2 O, and/or a process for the production of lower olefins by dehydrating lower alcohols having 2 to 4 carbon atoms that comprises using a .gamma.-alumina catalyst which contains 0.5 to 5% by weight of SiO.sub.2.According to the process of the present invention, lower olefins can be produced from lower alcohols with high yield and high selectivity for a prolonged period of time without reducing the catalytic activity.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a process for producing an aromatic hydroxylic compound by acid decomposition of a hydroperoxide having the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Ar represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group having a valence of n; and n represents an integer of 1 or 2, in the presence of an acid catalyst, thereby to provide an aromatic hydroxylic compound having the general formula (II)Ar--(OH)n (II)wherein Ar and n are the same as above defined, characterized in that tetrafluoroboric acid, hexafluorosilicic acid or hexafluorophosphoric acid is used as the acid catalyst. According to this process, the aromatic hydroxylic compound is obtained in a high yield while the by-production of hydroxyacetone is effectively suppressed.

    Abstract: A semiconductor laser of this invention, having a structure of an element composed of: carrier block layers, formed bilaterally externally of an active layer in section which is formed in the vertical direction from the surface of the element, for reducing a light guiding function of the active layer; wave guide layers provided bilaterally externally of said carrier block layers and clad layers provided so that the wave guide layers are sandwiched in between the clad layers. This invention overcomes a dilemma inherent in the conventional weakly guiding laser and LOC structured laser in terms of designing the device for controlling a guided mode. The present invention also solves the problems in terms of attaining higher outputting and a low dispersion of the radiation beams and improving a beam profile.

The ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition has excellent moldability and heat stability properties and forms films having high transparency and mechanical strength.

    Abstract: A topsheet for use in body fluid absorptive articles is so improved that collapse and clogging of liquid passages therein may be reliably avoided. The topsheet includes an upper sheet, provided with skin-contacting areas and liquid passages, and a lower sheet provided with skin-non-contacting areas, areas welded to the liquid passages, and exposed areas. The exposed areas are welded to each of the liquid passages around lower openings thereof so as to protect the liquid passage against collapse and clogging. The exposed areas define a skin-contacting surface which rises up into each of the liquid passages without extending above the upper surface of the skin-contacting areas. The upper sheet cooperates with the lower sheet to define cavities extending in the direction of the topsheet thickness.

By this construction, a portion of the hub which protrudes from the back surface of the disc substrate, facing toward the spindle of a turn table can be altered in dimension and/or the diameter of the protrusion portion of the hub can be made smaller than that of the center hole of the disc substrate.
