    Abstract: The present invention provides an ethylene copolymer comprising constituent units (a) derived from ethylene and constituent units (b) derived from an .alpha.-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, the ethylene copolymer being characterized in that(A) the ethylene copolymer has a density (d) of 0.86 to 0.95 g/cm.sup.3 ;(B) the ethylene copolymer has a MFR of 0.001 to 50 g/10 min as measured at a temperature of 190.degree. C. and a load of 2.16 kg;(C) the melt tension (MT) and MFR of the ethylene copolymer satisfy the relationlog MT>-0.66 log MFR+0.6; and(D) the temperature (T) at which the exothermic curve of the ethylene copolymer measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) shows the highest peak and the density (d) satisfy the relationT<400 d-250.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising (A) a transition metal compound represented by the formula (I) R.sup.1 R.sup.2 MX.sub.2 (wherein M is a transition metal atom, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each a cycloalkadienyl group having an aryl group and a saturated hydrocarbon group as substituents, and X is a halogen atom or the like) and (B) at least one compound selected from (b1) an organoaluminum oxy-compound, (b2) an ionized ionic compound and (b3) an organoaluminum compound. Also disclosed is a process for olefin polymerization comprising polymerizing an olefin in the presence of the above-mentioned catalyst. According to the present invention, an olefin copolymer having a crystallization temperature and a melting point both lower than those of the conventional copolymers can be prepared in the case of that the feeding amount of comonomer is smaller than those conventionally used.

Further, a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising the above-mentioned solid titanium catalyst component, an organoaluminum compound catalyst component and an electron donor, and a process for polymerizing an olefin using the catalyst for olefin polymerization are also disclosed.

    Abstract: An optical information recording medium is here disclosed which comprises a transparent substrate, a recording layer comprising an organic dyestuff on which information can be written by a laser beam, a reflective layer and a protective layer formed in this order on the substrate, the aforesaid optical information recording medium being characterized by containing a pit.multidot.edge control agent for the formation of recording pits, particularly a dyestuff thermal decomposition accelerator in the recording layer. By the addition of the pit.multidot.edge control agent, deviation properties and jitter properties can be remarkably improved, whereby a CD-R medium having a low error rate and good recording properties can be provided. In consequence, stable compatibility with a commercial CD player can be secured.

The motorized closure assembly has an electric motor and a rotating lever for displacing the latch from a half-latched position to a full-latched position. The latch has a latch arm which substantially extends toward an outer panel of the door and overlaps with a rotating locus of the rotating lever.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method for purifying a crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid comprising the steps of mixing a crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and a water/alcohol solvent to esterify a part of the naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, thereby dissolving a naphthalenedicarboxylic ester into the solvent, and then contacting the resulting reaction mixture with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to hydrogenate impurities which are contained in the crude naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and which are capable of being hydrogenated, thereby dissolving and removing hydrogenation products into the water/alcohol solvent. A mixture of a naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and a naphthalenedicarboxylic ester with reduced impurity contents, or a high-purity naphthalenedicarboxylic acid can be obtained.

The process is a high-yield manufacturing process in industry capable of efficiently producing very high purity 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinone which contains less than 0.1% by weight of by-product 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinimine derived from the raw materials.

    Abstract: A solid-state laser apparatus is composed of a semiconductor laser device 17, a laser medium 13 for generating oscillated light, a non-linear optical device 12 for converting the oscillated light to non-linear light, a laser holder 17a and a base plate 19 for holding the semiconductor laser device 17, and a crystal holder 3 for holding the laser medium 13 and the non-linear optical device 12. The laser holder 17a, base plate 19 and crystal holder 3 are fixed with an adhesive or the like after positional adjustment under light pressure and temporary tightening. A laser diode pumped solid-state laser apparatus is thus obtained which is simplified in assembling and positioning of optical components and can be stably operated regardless of temperature changes.

The given direction coincides with a radial direction of the drum shaft. Each side of a contact portion of the wire cable relatively to the tension roller extends straight toward the wire drum.

    Abstract: The ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber composition of the present invention comprises in specified proportions a crystalline polyolefin resin (A) and an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber (B) composed of ethylene, an .alpha.-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms and a specific branched chain polyene compound. The molar ratio of ethylene units to .alpha.-olefin units, iodine value and intrinsic viscosity ?.eta.! of the ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber (B) are within respective specified ranges. This rubber composition is excellent in low temperature properties. When the above olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition is partially or entirely crosslinked, a molding can be provided which is superior to the conventional vulcanized rubbers in low temperature properties, tensile strength, elongation at break and rubber properties.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing an anhydrous magnesium halide solution, comprising a step of distilling water off from an oxygen-containing organic solvent solution of hydrous magnesium halide containing at least calcium as an impurity, to prepare an oxygen-containing organic solvent solution of anhydrous magnesium halide, wherein a potassium compound is added in said step to precipitate calcium and potassium, followed by removing the calcium and potassium. According to this process, an anhydrous magnesium halide solution scarcely containing calcium can be prepared from hydrous magnesium halide containing calcium as an impurity. Also disclosed is a process for preparing a solid titanium catalyst component for olefin polymerization, comprising contacting the anhydrous magnesium halide solution obtained by the above process with a liquid titanium compound to precipitate a solid titanium catalyst component.

C., of not less than 3.0% by weight as measured by gravimetry, a process for preparing the same, and a manganese dry cell comprising a cathode mix comprised of a mixing of the electrolytic manganese dioxide with a conductive acetylene black, preferably a conductive acetylene black having a BET specific surface area of 70 to 2.50 m.sup.2 /g, and an electrolyte composed mainly of zinc chloride and/or ammonium chloride. In the process of preparing the electrolytic manganese dioxide, after electrolysis and during or after neutralization, the manganese dioxide is heated in an aqueous solution at 50.degree. to 100.degree. C. for 12 to 48 hours in the presence of an alkaline ammonium compound.
