    Abstract: This invention provides a process for producing spherical carrier particles for olefin polymerization catalyst, which comprises(i) forming a suspension of molten droplets of an adduct of a halogen-containing magnesium compound and an active hydrogen-containing organic compound in an organic liquid medium in the presence of at least one oil soluble surface-active agent as an auxiliary component, and(ii) quenching the resulting suspension to solidify the adduct particles.

    Abstract: This invention discloses a heat sensitive recording sheet which contains, as a developer, at least one of the compounds represented by the general formula ##STR1## where R represents hydrogen, an alkyl radical of from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl radical of from 3 to 10 carbon atoms, an aralkyl radical of from 7 to 10 carbon atoms, and a phenyl radical, and may be identical to or different from each other, n is zero, or an integer of 1 or 2.The heat sensitive recording sheet of this invention has a sharper rise in developed color density and is advantageous for its handling and storage as well as gives a developed color image having an excellent fastness to light and water resistance in addition to very little decrease in density of the developed color image with time.

    Abstract: An inert gas containing carbon dioxide and ammonia and separated from a urea synthesis effluent under urea synthesis pressures is brought into contact with an absorbent along with unreacted carbon dioxide and ammonia separated in high pressure distillation at a pressure of from 10 to 25 kg/cm.sup.2 G to absorb substantially all of the carbon dioxide and the major portion of the ammonia, and is cooled to be separated from the resulting liquid ammonia and then is discharged. The inert gas can be treated with little or no danger of explosion by the above method.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the treatment of water-containing coal which comprises mixing the water-containing coal with a hydrocarbon oil having a specific gravity higher than that of water at temperatures in the range of 100.degree. to 350.degree. C.; heating the resulting mixture at a temperature in the range of 100.degree. to 350.degree. C. and a pressure not lower than the saturated vapor pressure of water at that temperature; and then allowing the heated mixture to settle at a temperature in the range of 100.degree. to 350.degree. C. and a pressure not lower than the saturated vapor pressure of water at that temperature, whereby an upper layer consisting of the water separated from the water-containing coal is formed on a lower layer consisting of the mixture of the dehydrated coal and the hydrocarbon oil.

    Abstract: Novel chlorinated 4-methylphthalic acids or anhydrides of the general formula ##STR1## wherein n is an integer of 1, 2 or 3, with the proviso that when n is 1, the chlorine atom is positioned at 3- or 5-position and when n is 2, the chlorine atoms are positioned at 3- and 5-positions. The new compounds are produced by dissolving 4-methylphthalic anhydride in concentrated sulfuric acid or fuming sulfuric acid to form a solution, and reacting the solution with chlorine at room temperature preferably in the presence of a catalytic amount of iodine, thereby to yield a crude product containing a mixture of chlorinated 4-methylphthalic acids. By subjecting the mixture to a thermal dehydration treatment in an inactive organic solvent, each of the chlorinated compounds may be isolated as its corresponding anhydride in the form of crystals.These chlorinated 4-methylphthalic anhydrides are valuable as intermediates for the preparation of dyestuffs or pigments.
