One such method comprises introducing into a plant a SYT nucleic acid or variant thereof. The invention also relates to transgenic plants having introduced therein a SYT nucleic acid or variant thereof, which plants have increased yield relative to corresponding wild type plants. The present invention also concerns constructs useful in the methods of the invention.
Abstract: In a drawdown strategy for an investor's retirement fund, assets from the fund are allocated between a drawdown account and an option annuity. The drawdown account contains assets that are invested in the markets, and the option annuity contains annuities that begin to pay at the end of a deferral period. In a first phase of investor's retirement, funds are drawn down from the drawdown account and paid to the investor, and the value of the option annuity grows as proceeds from the option annuity are accumulated by the option annuity. At some point the drawdown account is depleted, which corresponds to the end of the deferral period for the option annuity. At this time, a second phase of the retirement begins wherein the investor receives payments from the option annuity, and this continues for the remainder of the investor's life.
Abstract: The invention relates to OLEDs (1) having a substrate (2), a first electrode layer (3), a layer of organic electroluminescence material (4), a second electrode layer (5), a cover layer (6), moisture-absorbing means (9) and a separating foil (10) of resilient material. According to the invention, said foil (10) is positioned between the second electrode layer (5) and the moisture-absorbing means (9). This feature results in a longer mean life-time of the OLED. Advantageously spacer structures (12) (preferably formed as dots) are applied on the separating foil (10) between the foil (10) and the cover (6). This prevents discoloring effects around the rim of the OLED material.

Abstract: A package enclosing at least one microelectronic element (60) such as a sensor die and having electrically conductive connection pads (31) for electric connection of the package to another device is manufactured by providing a sacrificial carrier; applying an electrically conductive pattern (30) to one side of the carrier; bending the carrier in order to create a shape of the carrier in which the carrier has an elevated portion and recessed portions; forming a body member (45) on the carrier at the side where the electrically conductive pattern (30) is present; removing the sacrificial carrier; and placing a microelectronic element (60) in a recess (47) which has been created in the body member (45) at the position where the elevated portion of the carrier has been, and connecting the microelectronic element (60) to the electrically conductive pattern (30). Furthermore, a hole (41) is arranged in the package for providing access to a sensitive surface of the microelectronic element (60).
Abstract: An infusion assembly, wherein a piston is positioned facing an open end of a cup, and is movable along a first axis to insert a container of powdered material into the cup; the container having been arrested, in use, by a gripper-type stop device in a position coaxial with the first axis and inside a through channel interposed between the piston and the cup; the gripper-type stop device being movable with and by the piston to perform a work movement towards the cup; and the cup having a second axis, and being mounted to oscillate, about a third axis perpendicular to the first axis, between a normal unloading position, in which the open end of the cup faces downwards, and a work position, in which the second axis is coaxial with the first axis.
Abstract: The invention relates to a carrier (211) and an apparatus for optical manipulations of a sample in a sample chamber (2), wherein the carrier (211) comprises a contact surface (12) with a plurality of holes (52), particularly grooves (52). In a preferred embodiment, the holes (52) have two oppositely slanted opposing facets (53, 54) that include an angle (2a) of less than about (¾/¾)·140°, with ¾ and n2 being the refractive indices of the carrier and the sample, respectively. Moreover, a light source may be arranged such that it generates an input light beam (LI) which traverses at least two holes (52) before leaving the carrier (211) as an output light beam (L2). Due to the steepness of the facets (53, 54) and/or the multiple passages of the input light beam (LI) through holes (52) it is possible to interact with a sample in the holes in an efficient way and to minimize losses of light.

Abstract: An exhaust gas purification catalyst apparatus is arranged with an oxidation catalyst (DOC) having a noble metal component for oxidizing a nitrogen oxide (NO) in exhaust gas discharged from a diesel engine, a reducing agent spraying means for supplying a reducing agent selected from an urea component or an ammonia component, and a selective reduction catalyst (SCR) for reducing the nitrogen oxide (NOx) by making contacted with the reducing agent, in this order from the upstream side of a flow passage of exhaust gas. The selective reduction catalyst (SCR) does not comprise the noble metal component and includes zeolite or a crystal metal aluminophosphate; and further, a trap means for collecting the noble metal component volatilized from the oxidation catalyst (DOC) is arranged between the oxidation catalyst (DOC) and the selective reduction catalyst (SCR), or the like.
Abstract: The invention relates to a laser (1) for emitting laser light in the visible spectral range. A rare earth doped anisotropic crystal (2) comprising a 5d-4f transition is arranged within a laser resonator (7, 8), and a pumping light source (3) pumps the crystal (2) for generating laser light in the visible spectral range by using the 5d-4f transition. The 5d-4f transition of the rare earth doped anisotropic crystal comprises an absorption band extending over several nm. Thus, pump light having a wavelength within a relatively broad wavelength range can be used. This reduces the requirements with respect to the wavelength accuracy of the pumping light source and, thus, more pumping light sources of an amount of produced pumping light sources can be used for assembling the laser, thereby reducing the amount of rejects.
