  • Patent number: 8433021
Abstract: The invention provides a method of detecting symbol synchronization information for an OFDM signal, the OFDM signal comprising at least one OFDM symbol and corresponding GI, the method comprising steps of: generating a correlated signal based on each OFDM symbol and its corresponding GI; processing the correlated signal to generate a first conditional signal comprising at least two local peaks; converting the first conditional signal into a second conditional signal comprising a global peak; and detecting the global peak to obtain the symbol synchronization information. The converting step further comprises delaying the first conditional signal by a predefined delay, and generating the second conditional signal by subtracting the delayed first conditional signal from the first conditional signal.

  • Patent number: 8431942
Abstract: A rounded square lens is used instead of a hemispherical lens in an LED package to produce a substantially Lambertian light emission pattern. A cross-sectional view of the rounded square lens cut along its diagonal forms a semicircular surface so as to emulate a hemispherical lens in areas close to the diagonal. A cross-sectional view of the lens cut along its width bisecting the lens forms a bullet shaped surface narrower than the semicircular surface but having the same height as the semicircular surface. The four corners of the lens are rounded. The surface of the lens smoothly transitions between the two surface shapes. Since the rounded square lens has a diagonal dimension larger than a maximum allowable diameter of a hemispherical lens in the same package body, a larger LED die may be used with the rounded square lens to output more light without increasing the size of the package while maintaining a Lambertian emission.

  • Patent number: 8430412
Abstract: A transport carriage for industrial plants comprises a bearing structure mounted on a plurality of wheel units pivoting around respective vertical axes. The wheel pivoting units are connected by means of kinematisms to a single control plate mounted articulated around a vertical axis. The control plate may be maneuvered by means of a steering unit including a steering plate which is mounted articulated around the same articulation axis of the control plate. The steering unit is provided with a vertical bar suitable to be engaged into a hole of the steering plate and into any one among the two holes of control plate (5) to join the plates integrally in the rotation around the articulation axis thereof. When the engagement member is inserted into the abovementioned first hole, the wheels of the carriage are prearranged for movement in the normal advancement direction, with the possibility of steering within a limited angular field.

  • Publication number: 20130103947
Abstract: A security system assesses the response time to requests for information to determine whether the responding system is in physical proximity to the requesting system. Generally, physical proximity corresponds to temporal proximity. If the response time indicates a substantial or abnormal lag between request and response, the system assumes that the lag is caused by the request and response having to travel a substantial or abnormal physical distance, or caused by the request being processed to generate a response, rather than being answered by an existing response in the physical possession of a user. If a substantial or abnormal lag is detected, for example due to the fact that the information was downloaded from the Internet, the system is configured to limit subsequent access to protected material by the current user, and/or to notify security personnel of the abnormal response lag.

  • Publication number: 20130100706
Abstract: Driver circuits (1) for driving load circuits comprise transformer circuits (21) with primary side windings to be coupled to source circuits and with secondary side windings to be coupled to the load circuits. By providing the driver circuits (1) with determination circuits (22) for determining secondary side currents as functions of primary side currents, primary side voltages, primary side inductances and transformer ratios, the secondary side currents can be determined solely at primary sides of the transformer circuits (21). Functions may define secondary side currents to be proportional to differences between first signals proportional to integrals of primary side voltages divided by primary side inductances and second signals proportional to primary side currents, the differences being multiplied by the transformer ratios.
