Patent number: 6885193Abstract: To prepare magnetization for steady state magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance is primed using a parameterized priming sequence (60). The parameterized priming sequence (60) has a spectral offset parameter value (40) corresponding to a spectral offset of the steady state imaging. Subsequent to the priming, steady state magnetic resonance imaging data at the first spectral offset is acquired using a magnetic resonance imaging scanner (10). A reconstruction processor (44) reconstructs the imaging data to generate an image representation. Preferably, the parameterized priming sequence (60) includes a longitudinal priming sequence (62) that prepares longitudinal magnetization in a state approximating a steady state longitudinal magnetization. A spoiler sequence (64) spoils transverse magnetization while retaining longitudinal magnetization. A transverse priming sequence (66) prepares traverse magnetization in a state approximating a steady state transverse magnetization.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics, N.V.Inventor: David L. Patent number: 6884137Abstract: A method for producing CRT screens includes the step of reducing the cooling rate of part of a press-formed glass screen during the cooling stage. The outside portion of the screen, i.e., the side normally facing a viewer, normally has a higher cooling rate than the inside portion of the screen, which leads to unwanted stresses in the finished product. The cooling rate of the outside portion of the screen is reduced by reflecting the heat radiating from the outside portion during the cooling process, and/or providing extra heat to the outside portion from a heater. The reduction in the cooling rate is preferably done during the transport of the glass screen from the press to the cooling oven. The method provides for systematic cooling of the inside and outside portions of the glass screen at nearly the same cooling rate.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Gehardus Meintes Oosterhout, Hermanus Nicolaas Tuin

Patent number: 6884317Abstract: Method for etching a substrate wherein, after placing in an etching chamber, said substrate is treated with a mixture of HF and acetic acid. Acetic acid is introduced into the chamber first, followed by the hydrogen fluoride. Hydrogen fluoride is introduced via an intermediate stage during which the hydrogen fluoride is stored in an auxiliary chamber. By this means back-flow of a corrosive mixture consisting of hydrogen fluoride and acetic acid into the piping assembly for hydrogen fluoride is prevented and, thus, the life of the piping assembly concerned is appreciably prolonged and metal contamination on substrate treated later is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2001Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: ASM International, N.V.Inventors: Hessel Sprey, Arjen Benjamin Storm, Jan Willem Hubert Maes

Patent number: 6885318Abstract: A method and device for improved character input are described, wherein the method employs a keypad 100 comprising keys 102 able to display secondary characters 106 in addition to primary characters 104. The keypad has a default display state. A first key selection causes the keypad 100 to display secondary characters 106 associated with the first key on other keys 102, whereupon a second key selection causes the displayed character to be input, following which the keypad reverts to displaying the default state. Further secondary characters 200 may also be displayed after a first key selection. The method is particularly useful for handheld devices such as mobile radio telephones or handheld computers adapted to implement the method of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Matthew J. Patent number: 6886014Abstract: This invention facilitates the relocation of a hypertext document and objects referenced by hypertext items. The Universal Resource Locators (URLs) in a hypertext document are identified and assessed. A modifiable URL is a URL that is associated with an object that has been relocated, or with an object that will be relocated when the hypertext document is relocated. Each modifiable URL in the document is modified to reflect the relocation of each object, and each object that has not yet been relocated is relocated. If any relocated object is another hypertext document, this other document is similarly processed to identify and update each modifiable URL, each object requiring relocation is relocated, and each relocated hypertext document is subsequently similarly processed.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1998Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Aninda Dasgupta

Patent number: 6886091Abstract: Super functional units are used to execute not only single super-instructions that take more than one issue slot, but also a number of equivalent regular VLIW instructions. Accordingly, the same hardware can thus be used to execute either a superoperation or a combination of regular operations, potentially combined with other smaller superoperations. Using super functional units in this way promotes efficient use of computing resources by making computing resources that might otherwise be used unnecessarily by superoperations available for use by single-slot instructions or by smaller superoperations. In some embodiments, a compiler analyzes program and other data to identify superoperations that can be reduced to equivalent single-slot instructions. The compiler maps these operations to a single slot of a super functional unit, reducing the computing resources occupied by the operation.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2001Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Kornelis A. Patent number: 6885986Abstract: Successive pitch periods/frequencies are accurately determined in an audio equivalent signal. Using a suitable conventional pitch detection technique, an initial value of the pitch frequency/period is determined for so-called pitch detection segments of the audio equivalent signal. Based on the determined initial value, a refined value of the pitch frequency/period is determined. To this end, the signal is divided into a sequence of pitch refinement segments. Each pitch refinement segment is associated with at least one of the pitch detection segments. The pitch refinement segments are filtered to extract a frequency component with a frequency substantially corresponding to an initially determined pitch frequency of an associated pitch detection segment. The successive pitch periods/frequencies are determined in the filtered signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1999Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Ercan F. Patent number: 6885429Abstract: A system and method are used to calibrate a focus portion of an exposure section of a lithography tool. A wafer is exposed so that a resulted or formed patterned image is tilted with respect to the wafer. The tilting can be imposed based on controlling a wafer stage to tilt the wafer or a reticle stage to tilt the reticle. The wafer is developed. Characteristics of the tilted patterned image are measured with a portion of the lithography tool to determine focus parameters of an exposure system. The portion can be an alignment system. The measuring step can measure band width and/or band location of the tilted patterned image. Sometimes, more than one patterned image is formed on the wafer, then the measuring step can measure distance between bands and shifting of the bands with respect to a central axis of the wafer. The focus parameters can be focus tilt errors and/or focus offset. The focus parameters are used to perform calibration.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2002Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: ASML Holding N.V.Inventors: Joseph H. Lyons, Joseph G. Whelan
