Abstract: The present invention allows multiple IC devices to be placed on the same substrate within a single BGA package. The invention requires minimum distances to be kept between electrical connections of the IC devices to maintain the electrical isolation, so that the devices can be operated at different voltage differentials. Signals between the devices can be connected externally from the package to each other utilizing galvanic isolation techniques. The invention provides the flexibility of choice for the customers to use isolation or not between the devices and takes up less PC board space because only a single package is used on the board.

Abstract: A method and audio converter for generating further audio signals (u, ul, ur, uc, us) from initial audio signal (x, xl, xr), wherein optionally an information signal (in means 23) is derived from said initial audio signals (x). On basis of the initial audio signal (x, xr, xl), a dominant signal y(k) and a residue signal (or signals) q(k), substantially transverse to each other, are determined (means 21 and 22). In at least two frequency ranges frequency components of the dominant signal are analysed (means 24), and a difference signal yr ({y(k)?yb(k)) corresponding to the dominant signal minus a frequency range component of the dominant signal in one or more frequency ranges (yb(k)) is formed. The difference audio signal yr and the residue signal q(k) are transformed into said further audio signal u(means 25), i.e. u = T ? ( y r ? ( k ) q ? ( k ) ) .

Abstract: System for protecting data on a data carrier on which is stored an accessible medium code and data only accessible after presenting an access code, comprises: a) an apparatus incorporating, a programmed processor, a user interface, a mobile telephone incorporating a SIM-card, b) a central station incorporating a further programmed processor cooperating with a number of memories storing valid medium SIM and access codes. The processor can be connected through the telephone and a suitable communication network to the further processor in the central station whereby the SIM-code of the telephone and the medium code of the carrier are transferred to the further processor to be processed into an access code. The resulting combination of codes is compared with codes stored in memories, and in case of a valid code combination a coded access permission is sent to the processor enabling the software to read data from the data carrier.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for forming coated toner images on a web are disclosed. The coating unit can be employed off-line or in-line with a digital printing system. The coating is applied on already fused toner images and is subsequently cured by means of UV radiation. The resulting coated fused toner images have a reduced sensitivity towards mechanical interaction, e.g., rubbing, and towards water, solvents and sunlight. In addition, they yield a smooth surface with an even tunable gloss, independent of the amount of superimposed toner layers.

Abstract: The need for service repair calls for a medical imaging system is reduced by enabling the operator to diagnose and, at times, to repair system problems without calling a repair service. A system diagnostics package includes an interactive diagnostic procedure which interacts with the system operator to receive input and information concerning a system problem. The diagnostics package uses this qualitative operator input, augmented if necessary by quantitative system data, to logically arrive at a system diagnosis. In a preferred embodiment the ultrasound system is able to learn about and discover new problem sources and their solutions. This information can be retained by the imaging system and used to repair similar problems in the system in the future. The information can be communicated to the system manufacturer so that the knowledge learned by one system can be disseminated to other systems to expedite their diagnosis and repair.

Abstract: There is provided a series of novel particulate stabilized lithiated compounds which can be utilized as cathodic materials in lithium ion battery cells. Each particle of the material defines an inner lithiated metal oxide core which acts as an intercalation cathode. A lithium ion conductor coating surrounds the core to stabilize the latter and to improve the electrochemical properties of the material.
Abstract: A method and system are provided for balance control for component video signals. The system and method of the present disclosure allow for adjusting or compensating for possible color encoding errors, as well as allowing individual viewer preferences to be accommodated, in consumer electronics devices, such as high definition monitors and other imaging devices and appliances. The system includes circuitry for receiving the U and V component video signals and outputting balance adjusted component color difference signals Uout and Vout.
Abstract: A data carrier that communicates confidential data is configured to mask process-dependent power consumption by using power stored in an internal capacitor. The capacitor is initially charged to the voltage of an external power source, and then decoupled from the external power source. The capacitor provides power to an internal processor, and consequently discharges gradually. At the end of a given time interval, the capacitor is discharged to a fixed voltage, then charged to the supply voltage. In this manner the power consumed by charging of the capacitor is decoupled from the power consumed by the processor. If the capacitor drops below a threshold voltage before processing is completed, the processor is halted. To optimize the available processing time, the time interval before discharging the capacitor to the fixed voltage is dynamically adjusted to reduce the time that the processor is halted.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming high quality oxide layers of different thickness over a first and a second semiconductor region in one processing step. The method comprises the steps of: doping the first and the second semiconductor region with a different dopant concentration, and oxidising, during the same processing step, both the first and the second semiconductor region under a temperature between 500° C. and 700° C., preferably between 500° C. and 650° C. A corresponding device is also provided. Using a low-temperature oxidation in combination with high doping levels results in an unexpected oxidation rate increase.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a process to polymerize one or more monomers wherein one or more initiators and optionally one or more surfactants are added to a polymerization mixture when the pressure in the polymerization reactor is dropping. This process allows a shorter polymerization time due to a higher pressure drop rate at the end of the polymerization reaction. Moreover, the cooling capacity of the polymerization reactor is used more efficiently.

Abstract: A container device (10) for storing hazardous material comprises a substantially cylindrical container block which has a central axial cylindrical through passage (13) and includes a group of storage vessels (12) for the hazardous material positioned between the central passage and the circumferential surface of the container block and which further includes a cylindrical concrete body (14) enveloping the group of storage vessels. The storage vessels (12) are positioned adjacent to one another along a closed curve, and sections of the circumferential surfaces of adjacent storage vessels (12) form the predominant part of the wall of the central passage (13). The concrete body directly contacts the storage vessels (12) over substantially all the parts of said circumferential surfaces, which do not constitute said sections. When the container device is made, the remaining parts of the circumferential surfaces of the storage vessels (12) form a permanent formwork in which the concrete body (14) is cast.
