  • Publication number: 20120127300
Abstract: A telescopic probe monitoring system for riverbed elevation monitoring at a bridge pier is revealed. The system includes a measurement module for measuring riverbed elevation under water and a control module. The measurement module includes a housing, a multi-layer tube, a driving member with scales, a photographic unit for capturing images, and a sensing unit. The control module controls the driving member to extend the multi-layer tube. Thus the sensing unit on the bottom of the multi-layer tube contacts the riverbed and then sends a sensing signal to the control module for stopping pushing the multi-layer tube and controlling the photographic unit to capture images of the driving member. According to the images and movement of the measurement module, the control module learns the riverbed elevation and sends the riverbed elevation to a remote monitor unit for real-time monitoring of the riverbed elevation.

  • Patent number: 8184848
Abstract: A liquid level detection method includes capturing an image of a liquid surface, a structural surface, and graduation markings provided on the structural surface using an image-capturing device to thereby obtain an initial image. Subsequently, the initial image is processed so as to generate a processed image, and a level reference value of the liquid surface is obtained from the processed image. The level reference value represents a height of the liquid surface in terms of inherent characteristics of the processed image. Lastly, a liquid level of the liquid surface is calculated based on a relative proportional relation among the level reference value, an overall height of the processed image in terms of the inherent characteristics of the processed image, and dimensions of any one of the initial and processed images relative to the graduation markings.

  • Publication number: 20120081781
Abstract: An optical fiber apparatus is suitable to operate under irradiation, more particularly to mitigating the damage of a rare-earth-doped optical fiber element as part of an optical fiber assembly causes by irradiation. The irradiation mitigation attributes to a photo-annealing apparatus including at least a shorter wavelength photo-annealing spectral content, which is relative to that of a pump light source, for effectively photo-annealing the rare-earth-doped fiber element. Photo-annealing by such shorter wavelength light results in a fast and nearly complete recovery of radiation induced attenuation of the rare-earth-doped optical fiber element in the wavelength range from 900 nm to 1700 nm.

Abstract: A probe monitoring system for riverbed elevation monitoring at bridge piers is revealed. The system includes a housing, a measuring rod, a moving member, a control module, a photographic unit and a sensing unit. The housing is fixed on the pier. Both the moving member for driving the measuring rod and the control module for control of the moving member are mounted in the housing.
