  • Patent number: 7446833
Abstract: An in-plane switching mode active matrix type liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate located opposing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a thin film transistor, a pixel electrode each associated to a pixel to be driven, a common electrode to which a reference voltage is applied, data lines, a scanning line, and common electrode lines. Molecular axes of liquid crystal are rotated in a plane parallel with the first substrate by an electric field substantially parallel with a plane of the first substrate to thereby display certain images. The common electrode is composed of transparent material, and are formed on a layer located closer to the liquid crystal layer than the data lines. The common electrode entirely overlaps the data lines except an area where the data lines are located in the vicinity of the scanning line.

  • Publication number: 20080266474
Abstract: In a liquid crystal panel of the present invention, a common storage line is connected to a counter electrode by means of a conductive convex structure in a display area, and wiring resistance of the common storage line is made smaller than wiring resistance of a gate line. By making the wiring resistance of the common storage line smaller, a flicker and crosstalk can be reduced. Even in a large-sized liquid crystal panel, a liquid crystal panel having a good picture quality and a liquid crystal display using the same can be obtained.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device prevents the gray level folding in at least one of the vicinities of the highest and lowest gray levels while avoiding the complication of the data line driver circuit. The data line driver circuit generates output voltages whose number is equal to a predetermined gray level number M based on reference voltages, and selects one of the output voltages and outputs the selected one to the display section in response to an inputted image signal, thereby displaying images The applied voltage-brightness characteristic of the display section has a zero brightness change region in which the reference voltage corresponding to the highest gray level is located. The reference voltage corresponding to the next lower level to the highest level is set such that the brightness at the next lower level is lower than that at the highest level by a predetermined difference.

  • Publication number: 20080246912
Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display (LCD) which is an active-matrix addressing LCD prepared by a drop filling and substrate assembling method, prevents an occurrence of a drop mark, and has superior residual image characteristics. The residual image characteristics are improved by adding an acidic compound (for instance, phenol derivative 412) into a liquid crystal composition to adjust a dielectric constant. The occurrence of the drop mark is prevented by adding a compound (for instance, alkoxy compound 413) which can form a hydrogen bond with the acidic compound into the liquid crystal composition so as to prevent the acidic compound from forming the hydrogen bond with water 409 when the LC composition has been dropped on a substrate. In a progressive mode, the content of the phenol compound is 0.00010 N or more, and the content of the alkoxy compound is 0.265 mol/L or less and is 10 equivalents or more with respect to the phenol compound.

  • Publication number: 20080245248
Abstract: A printing method realizes good reproducibility of an ink pattern and facilitates both the alignment operation between a printing plate and a blanket and the alignment operation between the blanket and a substrate, enabling the printing with positional accuracy as high as the TFT substrate can be fabricated. The flat portion of the printing plate and the flat portion of the endless belt-shaped blanket are contacted in the state where the said flat portions are opposed. Then, the said flat portions are detached, forming an ink pattern on the flat portion of the blanket. Thereafter, the flat portion of the blanket and the flat portion of the substrate are contacted in the state where the said flat portions are opposed. Subsequently, the said flat portions are detached, transferring the ink pattern to the flat portion of the substrate from the blanket.

  • Publication number: 20080238863
Abstract: A backlight unit shortens the necessary time from the time immediately after the turn on to the time the emitted light is converged to a predetermined chromaticity while the quality of time-varying images is improved. Under the control of the backlight controller section, the Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs), which are assigned to the respective light-emitting regions of the light-emitting surface, are driven to emit lights sequentially in the predetermined scanning light-emitting periods for the scan type lighting and the additional light-emitting periods in a single frame, responsive to the write scanning of an image signal to the LCD panel. The additional light-emitting periods are outside a corresponding one of the scanning light-emitting periods. In each additional light-emitting period, the LEDs emit light in synchronization with the supply of the optical leakage preventing signal (e.g., the black inserting signal) to the LCD panel.

  • Publication number: 20080236425
Abstract: A printing plate for reversed relief offset printing ensures the prevention of the internal omission of a desired pattern without increasing the depths of depressions of the plate. The printing plate comprises a base material having depressions and a non-depressed part on a surface thereof, and ink repellent layers that cover inner surfaces of the depressions, respectively. The depressions of the base material whose inner surfaces are respectively covered with the ink repellent layers have a plan shape that defines a desired pattern. The non-depressed part of the base material is formed in such a way that a part of an ink film corresponding to the non-depressed part can be transferred to the printing plate in a process of reversed relief offset printing. The parts of the ink film corresponding to the depressions are not transferred to the printing plate due to the repelling action of the ink repellent layers.

  • Publication number: 20080239680
Abstract: An method of forming buried wiring lines makes it possible not to limit usable materials for an insulative plate to those having excellent heat resistance and to improve the corrosion resistance of the terminals provided for the buried wiring lines. The surface of an insulative plate is selectively etched using a mask formed on the surface, thereby forming grooves in the surface. A metallic nanoparticle ink is placed over the whole surface of the plate to fill the grooves with the ink, where the mask is being left. The ink is heated for preliminary curing to form a metallic nanoparticle ink film. The part of the film placed on the mask is selectively removed by detaching the mask, thereby leaving the remainder of the film in the grooves. The remaining film in the grooves is heated for main curing, thereby forming desired buried wiring lines.

Abstract: To provide a semiconductor thin film on which crystal grains with large diameters are formed over a wide range. A beam pattern including a plurality of recessed patterns is scan-irradiated to amorphous silicon in a first scanning direction (first crystallization step). Then, a beam pattern is scan-irradiated in a second scanning direction that is different from the first scanning direction by 90 degrees (second crystallization step). As a result, by having band-shape crystal grains formed in the first crystallization step as seeds, the crystal grain diameters thereof are expanded in the second scanning direction. That is, it is possible to obtain new band-shape crystal grains with the expanded grain diameters.
