    Abstract: An electronic cigarette has a vaporizer to produce vapor to be delivered to its mouth end. The vaporizer includes a tube having inlet and outlet ends. A porous matrix containing a vaporizable liquid, extends around the tube. Wicking fibers extend through side openings in the tube and are configured to wick the vaporizable liquid from the porous matrix into the tube, and electrical heater coil is powered by a battery to vaporize liquid on the wicking fibers in the tube, so that vapor is supplied along the tube end when the user draws on mouth end. The wicking fibers are wrapped around outer surface of the tube so as to contact and receive the vaporizable liquid by capillary action from the matrix. The wrapping of the wicking fibers may be in a spiral pattern in the same or opposite directions along the tube.

    Abstract: An electronic vapor provision system includes a housing, a vaporizer contained within the housing, and a mouthpiece at one end of the system. The mouthpiece provides an air outlet. At least one air inlet hole is provided in a portion of the housing. In response to a user inhalation at the mouthpiece, air flows into the system through the one or more air inlet holes, past the vaporizer, and out through the mouthpiece. The system further includes a collar located around the portion of the housing in which the one or more air inlet holes are provided. The collar is movable with respect to the housing. The system further includes a mechanism for positively engaging the collar and the housing at a plurality of predetermined positions as the collar is moved with respect to the housing.

The air channel is defined by a wall, and at least a portion of an inner surface of the wall is provided with a surface finish to increase the wettability of the surface to the liquid formulation. Increasing the wettability of the air channel can help reduce the likelihood of the aerosol condensing into droplets of the liquid formulation on the walls of the air channel and being drawn into a user's mouth therefrom.
