  • Patent number: 7132069
Abstract: A closure position detection mode is provided so as to obtain a rate of variation (which encompasses an amount of variation) in a physical quantity to a predetermined amount of movement of a movable platen or a crosshead, and detect, as a mold closure position, a position when the variation rate reaches a preset ratio. The mold clamping apparatus is previously operated in the closure position detection mode so as to store, as a reference value, the mold closure position at which a target mold clamping force is obtained. In production operation, the mold clamping apparatus is operated in the closure position detection mode so as to obtain an actual mold closure position (detection value). The mold clamping force is corrected on the basis of a deviation of the detection value from the reference value.

  • Patent number: 7132067
Abstract: A mold-clamping control method for an injection molding machine includes the steps of detecting a value of a monitor item in a monitor region predetermined in relation to a mold closing operation in a mold clamping step; performing emergency processing when the detected value exceeds a threshold value; and performing an automatic setting operation. This automatic setting operation includes the steps of periodically detecting the value of the monitor item in the monitor region at predetermined sampling intervals to thereby obtain detection values in sampling order; repeating the step of periodical detection for each of a predetermined number of shots; obtaining threshold values and torque limit values for individual places of sampling order, on the basis of the detection values, by use of predetermined arithmetic expressions; and storing the obtained threshold values and torque limit values for control use.

  • Patent number: 7070724
Abstract: The present invention has an object of eliminating the holding pin trace of a composite-molding of the dichromatic molding by refilling with resin by the pushing pin and preventing the lateral-shift of the primary molding during the refilling. It is made possible to fill closed recess and cavity with resin through a communicating hole formed in the primary molding by the pushing pin. A primary cavity mold 11 and a secondary cavity mold 12 are juxtaposed at symmetrical positions of a fixed plate 1. Core molds 14 closing alternately with both thereof are juxtaposed on a rotary table 7 installed on a movable platen 4. Holding pins 15 of the primary molding 30 and a resin pushing pin 16 are installed in the core mold 14 in a way to appear and disappear in respect to a cavity. The primary molding 30 is held in contact with the surface of the secondary cavity mold by the holding pin 15. A pin hole 20 for refilling resin is formed to be opened on a surface of the core mold by retracting the pushing pin 16.

  • Publication number: 20060113704
Abstract: According to a method for molding wheel caps, a base member of a thermoplastic resin is molded using a first cavity mold. Then, a film is formed on the base member by injecting a thermosetting coating material into a film forming cavity defined between a surface of the base member and a second cavity mold, such that the film forming cavity is filled with the coating material. The temperature of the second cavity mold is set to a temperature lower than the curing temperature of the thermosetting coating material at the time of injection of the thermosetting coating material into the film forming cavity.

  • Patent number: 7041242
Abstract: The value of a monitor item is detected in a monitor region predetermined in relation to a mold closing operation during the course of a mold clamping step. Emergency processing is performed when the detected value exceeds a threshold value. There are preset an anomalous-state mold opening velocity higher than a normal-state mold opening velocity on the basis of which mold opening control is performed in a normal state, and an anomalous-state-velocity end position at which mold opening control based on the anomalous-state mold opening velocity is ended. Mold opening control based on the anomalous-state mold opening velocity is performed in a portion of the monitor region ranging from a point corresponding to time when the detection value has exceeded the threshold value, to a point corresponding to the anomalous-state-velocity end position.

  • Patent number: 7036551
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of molding a low-melting-point metal alloy which exhibits thixotropy properties in a solid-phase and liquid-phase coexisting temperature region. In this method, a temperature of a heating holding cylinder is increased to a liquidus temperature or higher at the start of a molding operation. Then a remaining material in the preceding molding remaining in the heating holding cylinder in a solid state is wholly melted. After that a temperature of the heating holding cylinder is lowered to a temperature in the solid-phase and a liquid-phase coexisting temperature region. At the same time a molding material is supplied and a provisional molding is carried out. After the temperature has reached the solid-phase and liquid-phase coexisting temperature region, a regular molding is started. By the present invention a problem of a remaining material in the heating holding cylinder, which becomes a trouble at the start of molding by injection, is solved.

  • Patent number: 7032640
Abstract: A method of molding a low melting point metal alloy which exhibits thixotropy properties at a solid-liquid coexisting temperature, said method comprising the steps of heating said metal alloy at a temperature in the solid-liquid coexisting temperature region to form a semisolid, supplying said semisolid to a heating/holding cylinder to be accumulated, and injecting said semisolid into a mold. At the end of the molding process, a remaining semisolid material is heated to a wholly molten state, then discharged by injection, and heating is stopped so that the molding operation is finished; or, at a temporary suspension of molding, an accumulated material is heated to a wholly molten state and, at the resumption of molding, the temperature of the heating holding cylinder is lowered to the original solid-liquid coexisting temperature region while discharging said wholly molten material by injection and resupplying with new semisolid molding material.

  • Patent number: 7022271
Abstract: For observing a flow of molten resin in an injection molding apparatus, a transparent cylinder, which is formed of transparent glass or transparent plastic material, is used in place of a mold of the apparatus. Because filling the transparent cylinder with the molten resin up to the cylinder's full capacity will burst the cylinder, the molten resin injection is terminated on the way when the injected molten resin has occupied a predetermined percentage, in a range of 50–90%, of the total volume of the cylinder, so that a burst of the cylinder can be avoided. The transparent cylinder provides for an increased resin-flow observation range because of its transparency, and can be less expensive because it is formed of inexpensive glass or plastic. As a consequence, there can be provided an efficient resin-flow observing experiment apparatus at lower cost.

  • Patent number: 6999823
Abstract: Even when a power switch is turned off, the controller of an injection molding machine does not shut off a power supply immediately. The controller determines whether the present state of the injection molding machine is a previously-set confirmation-requiring state, such as a lockup state of a mold clamping unit using a toggle link mechanism, or a nozzle touch state of an injection unit. When the present state is not the confirmation-requiring state, the controller shuts off the power supply. When the present state is the confirmation-requiring state, the controller displays on a display screen a confirmation window for confirmation of power shut off. The controller shuts off the power supply in accordance with a shut-off operation performed on the basis of the confirmation window.

  • Patent number: 6915182
Abstract: When a determination condition is set for determining whether a molded product is non-defective or defective, a molding operation is performed a predetermined number of times. In each molding operation, an actual value of at least one monitor item which can serve as the basis for determining whether a molded product is non-defective or defective is detected. The detected actual values are displayed on a screen of a display in such a manner that a distribution of the actual values can be visually grasped.
