  • Patent number: 6874563
Abstract: A carbon nano material and a resin binder are plasticized and injection molded to form a preliminarily molded member. The preliminarily molded member is degreased by a heat treatment and made to a preliminarily molded porous member composed of the carbon nano material. The preliminarily molded porous member is inserted into a cavity of a product mold. A molten low melting point metal is injected into and fills the cavity. The preliminarily molded porous member is impregnated with the low melting point metal by injection pressure, thereby a composite metal product composed of the low melting point metal material integrally composited with the carbon nano material is molded. With the above arrangement, the characteristics of the carbon nano material are applied to the composite metal product to improve the functions thereof.

  • Patent number: 6865924
Abstract: In a drift detection method for detecting drift in a pressure detection value output from a pressure detector, pressure is detected by the pressure detector at a preset detection point in a pressure-uncontrolled region in an arbitrary molding cycle. The detected pressure is set as a reference pressure. Pressure is detected by the pressure detector at the same detection point in the pressure-uncontrolled region in a subsequent molding cycle. A deviation of the detected pressure from the reference pressure is obtained. When the deviation is greater than a preset value, it is determined that a drift is present, and processing for coping with the drift is performed.

  • Patent number: 6866088
Abstract: An injection molding machine for low-melting point metallic material has an injection mechanism having a tip portion, a melting cylinder and a rear portion holding a drive mechanism. The tip portion has a weighing chamber and a nozzle member feeding a mold. The melting cylinder is held at an oblique angle to promote gravity flow of the molten metal toward the tip portion. The melting cylinder encloses an agitating and injection mechanism that rotates and advances or retreats freely within the cylinder. One agitating and injection mechanism has a hollow shaft surrounding an injection rod tipped by an injection plunger that moves lengthwise in the shaft and agitating wings disposed around the tip end of the hollow shaft. The wings reach the inner sides of the cylinder and rotate. The plunger may extend beyond the shaft to be inserted in the weighing chamber.

  • Patent number: 6860314
Abstract: A low melting point metal material is made to a thixotropic state in which liquid phases and solid phases coexists. In the thixotropic state of the low melting point metal material, a carbon nano material is kneaded with the low melting point metal material and forms a composite material. Thus obtained composite material is supplied to a metal molding machine and injected into a mold in a thixotropic state or a completely molten state of the metal so that the composite material fills the mold, thereby the composite material is molded to a composite metal product. With the above process, it is possible to injection mold the composite metal product to which the characteristics of the carbon nano material are applied.

  • Patent number: 6726861
Abstract: In a foreign-object detection method for an injection molding machine, a trial mold closing operation is first performed. During the trial mold closing operation, a physical value related to mold closing operation is periodically detected in a monitor region, and a maximum deviation between the detected physical value and a preset theoretical value is obtained. The thus-obtained maximum deviation is added to a preset reference value to thereby determine a threshold value to be used for foreign object detection. During an actual mold closing operation, the physical value related to mold closing operation is periodically detected in the monitor region, and a deviation between the detected physical value and the determined theoretical value is calculated. A foreign object is judged to have been caught, when the deviation is in excess of the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6719035
Abstract: An injection molding apparatus of a metal material places a heating cylinder in an inclined position. The heating cylinder includes a nozzle at a tip thereof and a screw disposed inside. In this way, the metal material in a liquid phase state can be transferred and metered accurately in a reliable manner at all times by flowing due to the inclination and a transfer force produced by rotation of the screw. A clamping apparatus is provided to oppose the injection apparatus and includes a mold having a sprue bush inside. The injection apparatus and the clamping apparatus are placed on an apparatus platform in an inclined position at the same angle with the mold in a lower end, so that the metal material in the liquid phase state in the heating cylinder flows down toward the head due to self-weight. The nozzle and sprue bush are positioned on the same straight line, thereby maintaining nozzle touch without bending the nozzle.
