  • Patent number: 6847610
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for optimizing the transfer of information between one or more applications run in a mobile terminal (MT) and a packet-switched network (NW). There are at least two PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9) available in the packet-switched network (NW), which have at least partly different data transfer properties, whereby the PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9) can provide at least partly different qualities of service for the transfer of information. In this method at least one application connection is established for at least one of said applications, for which application connection a quality of service is specified. In addition, this method is characterized in that at least one data flow is formed of the information to be transferred in the application connection, and one of the PDP contexts (PDP1-PDP9) is selected for each data flow of the application connection.

  • Patent number: 6842771
Abstract: The invention relates to implementing data transmission between at least two sets of software used in one or more devices which comprise means for establishing a connection to a telecommunications system. The communication is partly carried out with method calls including a service request. A service broker supplies the service request included in the method call to indicated server, which responds to the method call by sending required information back to the sender of the method call via the service broker. At least some of the programs participating in data transmission are implemented with a script-based programming language in the devices. The arrangement comprises an application which transmits service requests and responses to the requests between the service broker and the software that needs data transmission, and renders data transmission requests and responses to the requests compatible between script-based software and another system.

  • Patent number: 6842633
Abstract: A housing assembly for a mobile telephone comprises a window panel and a front cover, with a clip arrangement which assists in preventing the common problem of the window panel falling out of the front cover. The clip arrangement comprises a rigid clip on the window panel which engages with a beam integrally moulded in the cover. This allows use of a low profile clip which does not extend into the telephone assembly, so permitting strong connections to be made in small assemblies.

  • Patent number: 6826170
Abstract: The object of the invention is a method for controlling a data transfer connection, terminal equipment and a data transfer system wherein at least two subscriber stations are connected to one subscriber connection of the data transfer system. The invention can be preferably applied, for example, in Wireless Local Loop networks, i.e. in WLL systems. One idea of the invention is that information relating to subscriber stations which have been connected to the subscriber connection is stored in the data transfer system and this data is exploited in switching an incoming connection to the correct subscriber station and in setting the data transfer procedure of an outgoing connection to correspond to the subscriber station being used. Terminal equipment according to the invention comprises preferably switches (416, 417) which are controllable by the processor of the baseband part (412) for switching the connection to the correct subscriber station.

  • Patent number: 6822585
Abstract: A mobile phone has a display and a keypad which comprises a plurality of keys. Each key has associated with it a plurality of different symbols. The keypad is used to enter symbols in the form of Pinyin strings (25) into the display which are then used to determine a candidate list (26) of Chinese characters which are presented in the display. Symbols are entered into the display by pressing respective keys once or more than one times in rapid succession. Selection of a symbol is only permitted if it corresponds to a valid Pinyin string (25), either in isolation or in combination with one or more symbols entered in a previous selection. Characters chosen from the candidate list are entered into a message (24) in the display.

  • Patent number: 6813501
Abstract: A system for providing location dependent services to a plurality of mobile terminals within a coverage area. The system defines services deployment areas in which the services are available. A server receives, from a plurality of sources, location information indicating the locations of mobile terminals and tracks them so that their presence in particular service deployment areas can be determined. The services receive meta-information classifying the location information and use this meta-information to determine whether the source of the location information is reliable enough for the service to be provided. If it is reliable enough, the service is provided to the mobile terminal.
