  • Patent number: 6885870
Abstract: A method is provided for inquiring about information relating to a mobile terminal of a cellular network, from a messaging server external to the cellular network. An inquiry is sent from the messaging server to the cellular network, comprising an external first identifier for identifying said terminal. In the cellular network the first identifier is mapped to a second internal identifier. The information relating to the terminal (MS) is determined with the aid of said second identifier and a responsive message is sent from the cellular network to said messaging server. In the response message, said information relating to the terminal is indicated by the first identifier.

  • Patent number: 6868331
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for outputting traffic information in a motor vehicle. In order to present the driver with traffic information in such a way that he can adapt his driving behaviour and/or his selection of a route for his journey to the respective current traffic situation in time, there is a provision that traffic messages are stored together with the respective position of the route section to which they relate. The positions of the traffic messages are then compared with the respective position of a motor vehicle in which the traffic information is to be output in order to detect the distances between the respective position of the traffic messages and the position of this motor vehicle. The traffic messages are then output sorted according to distances, starting with the smallest distance.

  • Patent number: 6856802
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and associated hardware units for testing the functioning of downlink data communication in a mobile station (202, 802, 902). The mobile station is equipped for receiving (302, 805) a signal in the downlink direction and for sending (312, 808) a signal in the uplink direction. As a part of the method, a test signal (711, 715, 716, 805) is received in the downlink direction. The received test signal is compared (208, 713, 908) to a known form of the test signal. There is produced and temporarily stored (209, 806, 909) information about errors which were detected in the received test signal during the comparing step. In the uplink direction a signal is sent (714, 717, 808) representing the stored information about errors.

In the method, an event that concerns the operation of the device and interests the user is detected by the control means of the device. If at least one silent alarm pattern producing a tactile sensation in the user is attached to the event, the user is given abstract information on the operation of the device by using at least one silent alarm pattern implemented with the alarm device and sensed by the user. Various alarm patterns differ from one another such that at least one alarm pattern characteristic sensed by the user varies. The characteristic can be the alarm pattern frequency, amplitude, changing rate of the amplitude, changing rate of the frequency or duration of the alarm pattern. One way to perform a silent alarm is vibration. The user interface is particularly intended for users with impaired hearing and/or vision.
