  • Patent number: 5246035
Abstract: The invention provides an erosion resistant pressure reduction valve or choke comprising a valve housing (1,22) defining a valve chamber (2) connected with an inlet (3) and outlet (4), a stationary first valve body (6,17) arranged in the chamber, and a second valve body (7,18). The second valve body is arranged so as to be turnable or displaceable relative to the first valve body by means of a spindle or the like (14,23). The first and second valve bodies are each provided with corresponding flow-through apertures (19,28). Flow through the valve is regulated by turning or displacing the turnable/displaceable second valve body relative to the first. • Patent number: 5230877
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of catalytic production of ammonia, where a gas mixture consisting mainly of unconverted synthesis gas, some ammonia, inert gases and possibly also water is recirculated to the synthesis reactor being first freed from the main part of the ammonia and possibly also water by absorption. The gas mixture is brought in contact with a hygroscopic abosrption agent having two or more OH-groups for absorption of ammonia and possibly also water. The absorption is carried out at a pressure being substantially the same as the ammonia synthesis pressure, and ammonia being desorbed from the absorption agent at a lower pressure and higher temperature than at the absorption. At least part of the possibly present water is removed from the absorption agent before it is supplied to the absorption column. Preferably it si applied ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol or triethylene glycol alone or in mixture as absorption agent.

  • Patent number: 5211677
Abstract: Particles in a fluid stream are detected by utilizing one or more probes each provided with at least one measuring or erosion element. The probe is placed in the fluid stream, and the particle content is quantitatively determined by measuring changes of electrical resistance as a function of erosion of the measuring element due to contact with particles moving in the stream. The probe may be equipped with a measuring head having a V-shaped configuration directed upstream, and the two planar surfaces defining the V-shape may each be equipped with one or more measuring elements.

  • Patent number: 5191019
Abstract: Method for production of a thermostable crosslinked halogen-containing polymer. Expoxygroups are added by way of a monomer as for example glycidylmethacrylate. The crosslinking of the polymer is carried out through an organic silane which can be hydrolyzed. By this method the crosslinking can be separated from the processing of the polymer as it is catalyzed by moisture after the processing is carried out. The crosslinking reaction is carried out very fast. Good thermostability is gained even if the halogen-containing monomer is vinylchloride.

  • Patent number: 5167700
Abstract: A and apparatus for melting and refining of magnesium and magnesium alloys is used both for melting of ingots and remelting of return metal. Metal is melted by pumping an overheated salt melt from a heating zone in a salt melt furnace and distributing it over the metal, which is placed in a basket above the liquid level in the furnace. The metal melts and is immediately removed from the basket without being further heated. A melt composition rich in calcium chloride with a content of calcium fluoride is preferably used.

  • Patent number: 5158613
Abstract: Hydraulic high density cement slurry, especially for cementation of oil/gas-wells. The slurry contains 30-45 weight % microsilica based on the cement weight and water to a density of 1.9-3.5 g/cm.sup.3. If desired there can be added dispersant, retarder and weighting agent. Microsilica acts as a fluid-loss preventing agent. The addition of microsilica prevents strength retrogression at temperatures above 120.degree. C. and acts as a mechanical stabilizer for the cement slurries. A method for production of the cement slurry is also described.

  • Patent number: 5120514
Abstract: Process for production of magnesium chloride with sufficient purity for the production of magnesium metal, by leaching a magnesium containing raw material in hydrochloric acid. It is essential to keep the ratio between acid soluble iron and nickel greater than 120 and the ratio between acid soluble iron and phosphorus greater than 20 in the primary magnesium chloride solution, to obtain a sufficiently pure product. The acid soluble iron can partly or completely be substituted by an equal, molar amount of acid soluble aluminium. It is especially preferred to use mixtures of macro- and crypto-crystalline magnesites in the ratio 1:10-10:1 as raw material.

Abstract: Method for production of magnesium chloride, to be used for production of magnesium, by leaching of magnesite in hydrochloric acid. A two-stage leaching process is used where in a first reactor magnesite lumps are dissolved in hydrochloric acid. The magnesium chloride containing solution is led to a second reactor, where finely ground magnesite or hydrochloric acid is added to obtain approximate equivalence between magnesium and chlorine. To precipitate the impurities an excess of magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide is added in one or several purification stages.
