Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for automatic analysis for determining the size distribution of particles and their deviation from a desired shape and color. The method includes the collection of particle samples and the generation of a particle curtain in a monolayer form. It is formed by taking particles through a silo whose distance (a) to a vibrating plate positioned below has a length relative to the distance (b) between the outer edge of the plate and the center line of the silo that is large enough for the particles flowing out of the silo and down onto the plate and out over its edge to form an angle .alpha. with the horizontal plane. The angle .alpha. is 50-90% of the sliding angle of the particulate material. The particle curtain is lit up and the silhouette of the particles therein is recorded and analyzed and presented in at least one place.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for clarifying aqueous salt solutions containing inorganic insolubles and possibly also organic components. Air is introduced into a recirculating system for the aqueous solution, pressurized and then released, thus forming microbubbles in the solution. Fluocculants are added and the presence of foam forming organic components is ensured. The foam formed is back-mixed into the solution while dissolved air flotation is interrupted, whereupon it may be restarted for flotation of possible remaining contaminants. The foam forming process can be performed in the presence of surfactants, wax and/or oil for forming a stable foam to be back-mixed into the solution for releasing entrapped microbubbles thereto. The method can be carried out by continuously supplying flocculant and solution to the flotation vessel. Dissolved air flotation and back-mixing are then carried out sequentially.

Abstract: A flexible intermediate bulk container includes at least one lifting loop and a double base made of two bottom parts that can be direct extensions of sidewalls of the container. The bottom parts have openings positioned directly one above the other, thus forming an opening in the base. In between the bottom parts it is arranged a closure of flexible material with projections on each side of one end. The projections of the closure are fastened to the base by joints or seams. The other end of the closure has a handle. The closure can be made of woven fabric of similar or the same type as that of the container.
Abstract: A method is proposed for the setting of electrodes in electrolysis cells, especially the setting of carbonaceous anodes (3) in cells (1) for producing aluminium according to the Hall-Heroult process, where the cathode of the cells contains a bath (13) of aluminium oxide dissolved in melted cryolite, and where the aluminium metal is deposited on the bottom of the cathode. The method is characterized in that each anode, in connection with their production (assembly), is provided with reference marks (16 and 17), for instance by providing the anode rod with a paint mark, which defines a predetermined distance from the bottom side of the anode to the cathode. The anodes thereafter are positioned or set according to a rule (18) having reference points (19) each defining the expected anode consumption pr. unit of time, whereby the reference mark (16 or 17) on the anode rod should correspond to a reference point (19) on the rule (18) which is in accordance with the expected setting height.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a HANFO explosive consisting of a mixture of at least one nitrate-oil explosive (ANFO-type) and at least one water-in-oil explosive, and a method for its manufacture. The oil of the ANFO part contains 0.3-7.0 weight % based on the weight of the oil component of the oilsoluble elastomer having a viscosity average molecular weight of 30,000-5 million, preferably 900,000-2.5 million. The manufacture of the HANFO explosive can be carried out by first adding an oilsoluble elastomer to the oil of the ANFO-type explosive, then mixing the oil with sodium-, ammonium- and/or calcium nitrate and then mixing this mixture together with a water-in-oil emulsion explosive. The HANFO explosive can be applied both in bulk and cartridged form.
Abstract: A vehicle space frame comprising load bearing longitudinal structural members (2) formed from an integral extruded multicavity shape being split, reshaped and aligned to secondary complementary shaped members (8) is provided. A new method of joining the structural members is based on longitudinal internesting of complementary shaped outer surfaces of the members forming the supportive structure of the space frame.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for removal of heavy metals, especially cadmium, from phosphoric acid containing solutions, primarily such solutions made by digestion of rock phosphate by nitric acid and subsequent removal of the main part of calcium from the mother liquor. The phosphoric acid solution is pre-purified for removal of sludge and insolubles and then partly neutralized with ammonia to pH 1.4-2 and cooled to 5.degree.-40.degree. C. Metal salts of dithio carbonic acid-O-esters are added for precipitating the heavy metals which then are separated from the solution. The solution is preferably neutralized to pH 1.6-1.8 and cooled to 10.degree.-20.degree. C. before precipitation of the heavy metals which then can be removed from the phosphoric acid solution by flotation and subsequent filtration.
