Abstract: An olefin polymerization process uses a catalyst with an organometallic complex of a group 4 metal having a bridged cyclopentadienyl-phosphole ligand, as defined by the formula: ##STR1## wherein: each Sl is a non-interfering spectator ligand;Y is selected from Si, Ge and Sn;Z is 2;R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or non-interfering substituents;Cp* is selected from cyclopentadienyl, substituted cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, substituted indenyl, fluorenyl and substituted fluorenyl;M4 is selected from Ti, Zr and Hf;X is an anionic ligand; andn is 1 or 2, depending upon the oxidation state of M4.A catalyst having a fluorenyl ligand and a dimethyl silyl bridge is preferred. This invention may be used to prepare polyethylenes having a broad molecular weight distribution.

Abstract: The present invention provides containers for chemicals which require a high purity, such as chemicals for use in manufacturing computer chips and pharmaceuticals. Such containers should not contaminate the contents due to extraction or other phenomena. Abstract: An optical system is disclosed for the inspection of wafers during polishing which also includes a measurement system for measuring the thickness of the wafer's top layer. The optical system views the wafer through a window and includes a gripping system, which places the wafer in a predetermined viewing location while maintaining the patterned surface completely under water. The optical system also includes a pull-down unit for pulling the measurement system slightly below the horizontal prior to the measurement and returns the measuring system to the horizontal afterwards.

Abstract: A semiconductor production tool which provides alignment of a wafer at a fab station thereof includes an optical system, a wafer translation mechanism, a field of view translation unit and a unit for determining alignment. The optical system has a field of view which views the wafer. The wafer translation mechanism at least brings the wafer to a predetermined measurement location. In the present invention, the field of view translation unit translates the field of view relative to the wafer so as to view at least a portion of an edge of the wafer during an alignment operation. The unit for determining alignment is operative during the alignment operation and determines the alignment of the wafer from images produced by the optical system when the optical system views at least a portion of the marker.
Abstract: Polymeric beads made by a suspension or an emulsion process may be concurrently impregnated with blowing agent, an insecticide and a flame retardant, if required. The resulting bead is then washed and dried and then may be used for making a foam structure such as a sheet. The resulting foam sheet may be used in the construction industry, particularly where there is a concern of insect infestation.

Abstract: A dual shear mixing element includes an auger and an impeller for use in a chemical reactor. The device may be used in processes where liquids of different temperatures need to be thoroughly mixed in a short period of time and solute must stay in solution. The present invention is particularly useful in the solution polymerization of polyolefins, especially in the medium pressure process for the preparation of linear low density polyethylene.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the determining the appropriate therapy and/or prognosis for a patient diagnosed with a non-Alzheimer's disease (AD) neurological disease based upon the patient's apoE allele load. The invention also provides a method for the identification of human subjects with a non-AD neurological disease that are likely to respond in clinical trials that test pharmaceuticals useful in the treatment of neurological diseases.
Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for preparing a viewing aperture in the top deck of a work station. The aperture when formed is provided with a liner sleeve adjacent to its perimeter. The outside face of the liner sleeve engages the edge wall of the aperture and the inside face of the liner sleeve supports rim portions of a transparent panel that is inset across the aperture. Various cross-sectional profiles for the aperture edge wall and the opposing faces of the liner sleeve can be used. The invention provides a reliable procedure for making an accurately sized aperture for monitor viewing in a deck.
Abstract: A work station system suitable for an office can include an elongate support beam, rigid, vertical posts supporting this beam above the floor, and a movable desk unit with a work surface and rollable members mounted at a bottom end thereof A wall is mounted on the top of the beam in a vertical position and is supported by the beam. A flexible cable and wire carrier device extends between elevated positions on the support beam and the desk unit and is connected to both. Preferably this carrier device includes an elongate carrier section comprising a plurality of interconnected links that are pivotable with respect to each other. The carrier device permits the desk unit to move towards and away from the support beam and, if a desk unit which is vertically adjustable is connected to the carrier device, the carrier device also permits the desk unit to move upwardly or downwardly. The carrier device can include a connecting module attached to its beam end.

Abstract: Solid, homogenous or porous, shaped bodies are formed from different powders such as metals and ceramics by preparation of an aqueous slurry of the powder, which slurry comprises a protein substance which is soluble in water at ambient temperatures and capable of forming an irreversible gel on heating to a temperature not exceeding 90.degree. C. The protein substance, for example albumin, is used in an amount sufficient for the formation of a gel. The slurry is formed into a body of the desired shape by methods such as molding, tapecasting or dropforming and heating to a temperature at least corresponding to the gelling temperature of the protein.
Abstract: An improved adjustable monitor support assembly is provided that utilizes a plurality of interchangeable side support assemblies and monitor supporting shelf assemblies. Each such shelf assembly is engageable with each pair or side support assemblies. Thus, a particular pair of side support assemblies can be used with either a monitor supporting shelf subassembly structure for a conventional monitor or a monitor supporting shelf subassembly structure for a flat LCD type monitor.
