Abstract: Polyesters having a reduced gel content may be made from dicyclopentadiene having a purity of less than about 90% by incorporating from 30 to 200 ppm of an aromatic inhibitor into the dicyclopentadiene prior to reacting the glycol and carboxylic acid to form the polyester.
Abstract: A two dimensional beam deflector is disclosed which deflects beams from multiple optical assemblies. The input of beams of the multiple optical assemblies follow parallel optical paths until deflection to a wafer. An ellipsometer using a two-dimensional beam deflector is also disclosed.
Abstract: The proposed image-processing method for determining the structural strength of a test object with a diffuse-scattering surface involves: the creation of an interferogram based on radiation back-scattered by the surface of the test object; conversion of the intrerferogram into a modulo-2.pi. image; and the stabilization of the modulo-2.pi. image to form an output grey scale value image. From the later, an identical duplicate grey scale value image is produced; this is then geometrically shifted and modified by applying an invariable grey scale value in the entire image area, before being finally subtracted from the initial grey scale value image to produce a grey scale image containing easily evaluated information on deformities in the observed test object.
Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for preparing a viewing aperture in the top deck of a work station. The aperture when formed is provided with a liner sleeve adjacent to its perimeter. The outside face of the liner sleeve engages the edge wall of the aperture and the inside face of the liner sleeve supports rim portions of a transparent panel that is inset across the aperture. Various cross-sectional profiles for the aperture edge wall and the opposing faces of the liner sleeve can be used. The invention provides a reliable procedure for making an accurately sized aperture for monitor viewing in a deck.
Abstract: Lubricated rolling contact devices, especially full ceramic or hybrid ceramic rolling bearings, are designed so that the ceramic contact surface or surfaces are coated with a thin film formed from titanium dioxide in anatase form. The titanium dioxide film can be applied from a composition including particles of the titanium dioxide in grease or oil.
Abstract: A projector which projects a flat picture or image in a horizintal plane onto a vertical screen. Because the projection optic used is arranged above one corner of a four cornered picture and can be rotated about a vertical axis the projector can be placed not only on one side of the projected picture, which is thus not obstructed by the projector and it's operator, but alternatively to the either side thereof. The picture can be square or rectangular. The invention can be applied both with overhead projectors and with TV type projectors.
Abstract: A method of obtaining an electric discharge effected by a device for obtang an electric discharge resides in that on the surface of a cathode (3) is formed a layer (4) of oxides from the cathode material and together with an anode (2) made in the form of a hollow cylinder which encompasses the cathode (3) they are installed in a vacuum chamber (1). Equality of impedances is insured at each point on the surface of the anode (2) facing the cathode (3). Then an electric discharge is initiated in the gap between the anode (2) and the cathode (3). The movement and removal of the plasma-forming substance flow from the gap between the anode (2) and the cathode (3) is regulated by means of diaphragms (17, 18).

Abstract: An improved adjustable monitor support assembly is provided that utilizes a plurality of interchangeable side support assemblies and monitor supporting shelf assemblies. Each such shelf assembly is engageable with each pair or side support assemblies. Thus, a particular pair of side support assemblies can be used with either a monitor supporting shelf subassembly structure for a conventional monitor or a monitor supporting shelf subassembly structure for a flat LCD type monitor.
Abstract: A multi-channel readout chip is provided in which each channel has an analog section and a digital section. Each channel of the readout chip employs low noise charge amplifiers with self trigger and calibration capabilities to provide timing information with better than 20 nanosecond precision. The trigger threshold can be adjusted to provide energy discrimination. The chip has a sparse readout function in which only the channels which have received signals greater than a preselected threshold value are readout, thus providing fast data acquisition capabilities.

Abstract: There are a number of devices for washing/recycling thermoplastic. However, the devices tend to be designed on a scale for use at a central site. Additionally, the devices currently available do not have a positive feed travel mechanism. Rather the devices permit the thermoplastic to be "pushed" through at a rate dependent on the feed rate. The present invention provides a compact washer/recycler having a positive feed travel which is designed to shred, wash, dry and compact plastic at the location of its use.

Abstract: A combination of two frames (2) and (4), one inside the other, for positioning a filtering ceiling. The frames have indented splines (3) and (5) on their facing surfaces, and an inflatable tube (6) is anchored on the spline of one of the frames. The tube is inflated to properly position the two frames, to hold the ceiling in place and to seal it so that all air must pass through the filtering ceiling. The tube is deflated to allow the filtering ceiling to be lowered for maintenance or replacement.
Abstract: A combination structure is disclosed wherein a stand-alone desk structure coacts with an underdesk monitor support structure for positioning and supporting the monitor support. Optionally a slidable keyboard tray support can be included with this monitor support. The top platform member of the desk structure includes a transparent portion. The monitor support structure includes a monitor support shelf and a pair of side supports which are each equipped with a U-configured unitary frame having a pair of legs and a cross member. A plurality of transversely extending, vertically spaced load bearable wire members extend between each pair of legs. Adjustable connector assemblies connect the shelf member with selected load bearable members of each side support. Optionally but preferably, each side support can also include a cross transverse bar which is optionally configured to support a drawer slide in combination with an associated respective leg member.
Abstract: A method is proposed for determining a location on an object and for positioning an object, such as a silicon wafer, which has an array of generally perpendicular grid lines on its surface and a plurality of directional features. The method determines the directions of the grid lines relative to the direction of a reference coordinate system, detects a grid junction and detects a direction of one of the plurality of directional features, thereby providing a location of the grid junction in the reference coordinate system. The object is positioned in accordance with the provided location of the grid junction.
Abstract: A counterweight assembly for a container lid that allows for control over the operating characteristics of the lid during opening and closing. The counterweight assembly is preferably used with a container having one or more walls, a floor, and a lid positioned on top of the walls, the lid being rotatable about a horizontal hinge axis. The counterweight assembly includes a counterweight, and a coupling arm rotatable about a counterweight axis that is located within the container. The counterweight is connected to one end of the coupling arm. The other end of the coupling arm exerts a force against the downward facing surface of the lid.
Abstract: A desk structure is provided wherein a monitor is angularly positionable beneath a transparent viewing window in the working surface thereof. The window is provided with a coating which is antireflecting of incident exterior light but the window is transmissive of light images from the monitor viewing screen.
Abstract: An adjustable monitor support assembly is provided which incorporates a shelf member, side supports and slide plates between each side support and the shelf member. Elongated slots are provided in the side supports and in the slide plates with those in the slide plates being perpendicular to those in the side supports, and adjacent ones thereof are interconnected by a key. The front of the shelf member is pivotally connected to each slide plate. The shelf member is thus vertically and horizontally positionable and tiltably adjustable relative to the side supports, and the shelf member is spatially fixable by an adjustable clamp.
Abstract: The present invention relates to debeaking turkey and chick poultry through non-contact thermal transfer from a source of high frequency heat generating radiation. The present invention directs heat onto the upper beak of a live bird by convection or radiation to thereby affect the continued growth of the beak. Such heating of the bird's upper beak provides a debeaking method which allows the bird's upper beak to stay in place for several days allowing the bird to eat and drink. Heating the portion of the upper beak also allows the poultry tongue and lower beak to be shielded from the heat causing less trauma and injury to the bird. The heat may be directed onto the poultry upper beak by radiation or convection.
Abstract: A flat monitor is associated with a work station in inset relationship to the top surface of the station's work platform so as to be non-interfering with this top surface usage. The flat monitor is either supported below an inset transparent window in the work platform or supported in a bore defined in the work platform, with the flat monitor preferably provided with a protective transparent film or sheet.
