Abstract: The invention provides sublingual epinephrine compositions including epinephrine fine particles formulated with pH-modifying excipients and penetration enhancers. The sublingual compositions are used to control absorption of epinephrine at the site of delivery in an oral cavity. The invention also provides methods for therapeutic use of the sublingual compositions for treatment of conditions responsive to epinephrine and/or for increasing sublingual bioavailability of epinephrine.
Abstract: Methods and systems for feed-forward of multi-layer and multi-process information using XPS and XRF technologies are disclosed. In an example, a method of thin film characterization includes measuring first XPS and XRF intensity signals for a sample having a first layer above a substrate. The first XPS and XRF intensity signals include information for the first layer and for the substrate. The method also involves determining a thickness of the first layer based on the first XPS and XRF intensity signals. The method also involves combining the information for the first layer and for the substrate to estimate an effective substrate. The method also involves measuring second XPS and XRF intensity signals for a sample having a second layer above the first layer above the substrate. The second XPS and XRF intensity signals include information for the second layer, for the first layer and for the substrate.

Abstract: Provided in this disclosure are organometallic complexes that contain i) a metal atom selected from Hf and Zr; 2) a phosphinimine ligand; 3) an amido-ether ligand and at least one other ancillary ligand. The use of such a complex, in combination with an activator, as an olefin polymerization catalyst is demonstrated. The catalysts are effective for the copolymerization of ethylene with an alpha olefin (such as 1-butene, 1-hexene, or 1-octene) and enable the production of high molecular weight copolymers (Mw greater than 25,000) with good comonomer incorporation at high productivity.

Abstract: An oral soluble film contains at least one active agent. Alternatively, a multi-layered film includes a plurality of layers, at least one at least one of the plurality of layers being an oral soluble film layer containing at least one active agent. The oral soluble film may be made, e.g., by a method comprising providing a well of a predetermined size; depositing a film forming composition in the well; metering a predetermined amount of an active agent composition in the well separately from the film forming composition, the active agent composition being different than the film forming composition, the film forming composition and the active agent composition forming a single layer in the well; and drying the single layer in the well to form the oral soluble film containing the at least one active agent.

Abstract: Bird carriers and methods of restraining birds are disclosed. Each bird carrier may include a torso support, one or more leg clamps, and a head support. The head support may further include a beak receiving passage such that at least a portion of the birds' beaks are exposed. The bird carriers may restrain one or both legs and heads of the birds while supporting their torsos. Restraining the legs and the heads of the birds while supporting their torsos may produce a calming effect such that the birds exhibit significantly reduced struggling in an attempt to free themselves from the carrier.
