Abstract: The present invention discloses a MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) integrated chip with cross-area interconnection, comprising: a substrate; a MEMS device area on the substrate; a microelectronic device area on the substrate; a guard ring separating the MEMS device area and the microelectronic device area; and a conductive layer on the surface of the substrate below the guard ring, or a well in the substrate below the guard ring, as a cross-area interconnection electrically connecting the MEMS device area and the microelectronic device area.

Abstract: A fuel cell including a unit cell having an anode, an electrolyte membrane, and a cathode in this order, a liquid fuel accommodation portion composed of a space opening on an anode side and arranged on the anode side, for accommodating or allowing flow of liquid fuel, and a first moisture retention layer arranged between the unit cell and the liquid fuel accommodation portion is provided. This fuel cell may further include a second moisture retention layer arranged on the cathode. This fuel cell can be a direct alcohol fuel cell. For example, pure methanol or a methanol aqueous solution is adopted as the liquid fuel.

Abstract: A system and method for the continuous production of brown butter involves concentrating butter while retaining solids non-fat in the butter, and continuously transferring and heating the concentrated butter to cause the solids non-fat in the butter to react in a maillard reaction to form a brown butter product. The system may use one or more of a heating vessel, an evaporator and a reaction vessel to form the brown butter in the continuous process. A brown butter product derived from butter includes reacted solids non-fat particulates from a maillard reaction suspended by nascent fat crystals nucleated about the reacted solids non-fat particulates and by large fat crystal structures joined to the nascent fat crystals.

Abstract: A positive-displacement pump (10) of the type comprising a driving gear (12) and a driven gear (14) perfectly coupled together and each mounted on a respective support shaft (16, 18). The driving gear (12) is operatively connected to a motor (20) to set the driven gear (14) in rotation and generate the pumping action on a fluid. The gears (12, 14) are contained in a chamber (40) provided with a closing plate (42). The support shafts (16, 18), the central body (38) of the pump (10), the chamber (40) that contains the gears (12, 14), the closing plate (42) of such a chamber (40), an inner magnet (36) and the base of the rear body (28) of the pump (10) are in turn housed inside a casing (30) of the pump (10).

Abstract: A batch-freezer machine for producing ice-cream. The machine includes an external casing; a substantially cylindrical-shaped processing tank extending inside the casing from the front wall of said casing, while remaining coaxial to a substantially horizontal reference axis; a front closing hatch structured to close the opening of the processing tank in a fluid-tight manner; and a rotating mixing member housed in an inside the processing tank and structured to blend/mix the semi-solid mixture that forms inside the processing tank. The mixing member is provided with a centrifugal impeller which faces the inner face of the hatch, and is structured so as to be able to push/eject the semi-solid mixture located at the center of the opening of the processing tank towards the internal cylindrical lateral surface of the processing tank when the mixing member rotates inside the processing tank.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system and method of processing device settings of a device. In a particular embodiment, the method includes requesting the device to provide the device settings. The device settings include wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) network settings. The method further includes storing the device settings in a device independent format. After the device settings have been stored in the device independent format, the device settings may be subsequently retrieved and used for replacement of the network device in a computer network. In a particular embodiment, the device settings are stored in the device independent format in a second device, such as at a server or a personal computer.

The controller generates the driving signal based on signals including the saw-tooth signal and the first sense signal to adjust the current through the LED light source to a target level and to correct a power factor of the driving circuit by controlling an average current of the input current to be substantially in phase with said input voltage.

At least one top portion is removably attachable to either of the first or second support surfaces of the body. The at least one top portion has a level of firmness less than the level of firmness of the first and second support surfaces such that when the top portion is attachable to either of the first or second support surface, the level of firmness of the first or second support surface is reduced. An overall level of firmness of the mattress can be altered by the user selecting either the first or second support surface alone or in combination with the at least one top portion to provide the overall level of firmness of the mattress that is acceptable to the user.

Abstract: Grass seed performance may be predicted by receiving grass seed selections for individual grass seed varieties and target geographic regions for growing the grass seed selection. A common set of grass attributes is identified from historical grass attribute values associated with the selected target regions. The historical grass attribute values in the first common set of grass attributes are retrieved and are displayed in a graphical format for the at least two individual grass seed varieties in the at least two selected target regions. A weighted average may be calculated for the historical grass attribute values in the common set and may provide a prediction of performance of the individual grass seed varieties across the selected geographic regions or in regions proximate the selected geographic regions.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a sprinkler assembly that includes a sprinkler head and a fitting. The fitting has a recess in a distal end for receiving a pipe end. The fitting also has a sealing ring in the recess to provide a fluid-tight seal between the sprinkler head and the pipe end upon installation of the pipe. In one embodiment, the pipe is installed by pushing the pipe end into the fitting (i.e., pushing actuates the fitting). In another embodiment, the pipe is installed by inserting the pipe end into the fitting and using a tool to press-actuate the fitting. During installation, a sharp-edged grip-ring or grab-ring in the recess of the fitting, which in some embodiments has a plurality of teeth, engages the outer surface of the pipe end, holding the pipe securely in place.

Abstract: A method for transferring a thin layer from a lithium-based first substrate includes proton exchange between the first substrate and a first electrolyte, which is an acid, through a free face of the first substrate so as to replace lithium ions of the first substrate by protons, in a proportion between 10% and 80%, over a first depth e1. A reverse proton exchange between the first substrate and a second electrolyte, through the free face is carried out so as to replace substantially all the protons with lithium ions over a second depth e2 smaller than the first depth e1, and so as to leave an intermediate layer between the depths e1 and e2, in which intermediate layer protons incorporated during the proton exchange step remain. The depth e2 defines a thin layer between the free face and the intermediate layer. A heat treatment is carried out under conditions suitable for embrittling the intermediate layer and the thin film is separated from the first substrate at the intermediate layer.
