Abstract: An improved means for connecting anode posts to diaphragm cell bases is described which utilizes anode posts which are soldered at the lower end of each post in an opening in the cell base to provide a good electrical connection. A flange is positioned on the anode post above the soldered connection. The space between the bottom of the flange and the interior surface of the cell base is filled with a suitable washer to provide a liquid-tight seal.

Abstract: Copper base alloys containing chromium, zirconium and niobium are disclosed as well as a process of heat treating and mechanically working said alloys. The combination of alloying elements, hot and cold working, annealing and aging steps increases both the strength and electrical conductivity properties of the alloy without excessive cold working.
Abstract: Functional fluid systems, i.e., hydraulic fluid and heat transfer fluid systems, containing alkoxysilanol cluster compounds having the formula RSi[OSi(OR').sub.3 ].sub.2 OH wherein R is hydrogen, an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl group and each R' is independently selected from the same group as R with the proviso that at least a majority of R' radicals are sterically hindered alkyl groups having at least 3 carbon atoms, are described.
Abstract: A process is described in which granular calcium hypochlorite particles are encapsulated with at least one layer of a hydrated low melting inorgnaic salt. In this process granular calcium hypochlorite particles are lifted from a moving bed to the upper part of a distribution zone and the lifted particles are released to fall downwardly through the upper portion to the moving bed. A molten hydrated low melting inorganic salt is sprayed onto the falling particles above the moving bed, and the coated particles are cooled to provide at least one solid outer layer of said low melting hydrated inorganic salt.
Abstract: A process of heat treating and mechanically working chromium-containing precipitation hardenable copper base alloys is disclosed. The combination of hot and cold working, annealing and novel low temperature thermal treatment steps increases both the strength and electrical conductivity properties of the alloys without excessive cold working.
Abstract: The instant disclosure teaches a process for obtaining an improved combination of strength and bend properties in copper base alloys having low stacking fault energy. The process is characterized by a critical combination of cold reduction and annealing following recrystallization.

Abstract: A closure for a fusee which comprises a body of pyrotechnic material which is contained in a main paper tube and has a primed igniting end surface. The primed end is covered by a secondary paper tube having a wood button insert on the outer end surface of which is deposited scratch mix. The secondary paper tube is secured to the main paper tube by a layer of hot melt which can be manually broken to remove the secondary paper tube from the main paper tube. The secondary paper tube is covered by a paper cup having an integral pressure ring. The cup is secured to the secondary paper tube by a layer of hot melt which can be manually broken to remove the paper cup from the secondary paper tube.
Abstract: An improved means for connecting anode posts to diaphragm cell bases is described which utilized anode posts which are soldered at the lower end of each post in an opening in the cell base to provide a good electrical connection. A plastic sleeve is positioned on the anode post above the soldered connection, and sealed to the interior surface of the cell base to provide a liquid-tight seal.
Abstract: The invention relates to a quick-connect coupling for use with a conventional threaded male coupling member in which a female coupling member is provided of such design that the male member may be inserted and locked without moving or rotating the female member. A resilient snap ring is situated at one end thereof within a tubular shell member and is provided at said end with internal threads for engaging and holding the male member in position. The snap ring possesses a peripheral bevel on the outer surface of said threaded end which seats within a correspondingly enlarged section of said shell to hold the snap ring in locking engagement with the male member. In the event that force is applied to the coupling to pull it apart, the bevel is forced against an interior wall of said enlarged section and the ring is forced to contract in diameter to effect said locking engagement.
Abstract: An improvement in the process for making para-chlorobenzotrifluoride by the fluorination of a mixture of the para- and meta- isomers of chlorobenzotrichloride wherein the fluorination reaction is stopped before the complete conversion of the para- and meta- isomers occurs so that the relative amount of meta- isomer of chlorobenzotrifluoride produced will be reduced.
Abstract: Improved method for melting copper base alloys containing from 2 to 12% aluminum including the steps of covering a molten mass of said copper base alloy with an essentially continuous flux layer of a molten salt consisting essentially of from 10 to 90% by weight of potassium chloride, from 10 to 90% by weight of sodium chloride and less than 5% by weight of other materials, said salt having a melting point of from 660 to 800.degree. C, and adding additional amounts of said alloy through said flux layer.

Abstract: A method of removing a portion of a rod from a metallic anode of the type used in chlor-alkali electrolytic cells. The anode is of the type having a foraminous surface comprised of a plurality of closely spaced substantially parallel rods with the rods being welded to a supporting structure at at least two locations. The method comprises mounting a drill bit in a drill so that no more than about 0.250 inch of the free end of the drill bit extends unsupported from the chuck. The rotating drill bit is advanced through the wire to be removed at at least two locations, with the rod free of weldings between the two locations. The portion of the rod may then be removed for testing or other purposes.
Abstract: Multiple gauge metal strip is prepared by a process which comprises first shaving said strip by a process comprising drawing said strip through a shaving apparatus adjusted to achieve maximum stock removal in relation to the yield strength of said strip whereby said yield strength is not exceeded whereby surface reduction is confined to an area comprising 5 to 50% of total surface area and volume reduction ranges from 10 to 60% of initial strip cross sectional area, and drawing the strip through a die which defines the desired final cross sectional configuration to produce a reduction of said strip to final dimension, wherein said drawing is performed without direct surface-to-surface contact between said strip and said die.
