Abstract: A ball bat includes an outer shell and an insert positioned in a ball striking area of the outer shell. The insert may include a tube element and one or more spacer elements positioned to form a gap between the tube element and the outer shell along at least a portion of a length of the tube element. In some embodiments, the insert or the gap may extend along only the length of the ball striking area. The outer shell may provide some compliance during a hit to create a trampoline effect, while the insert may provide a backstop to limit radial deflection of the outer shell.

Abstract: A razor cartridge including a first housing portion having a first top surface positioned on a first plane; one or more razor blade members mounted in the first housing portion and each including a blade with a cutting edge; and a second housing portion rotatably attached to the first housing portion. The second housing portion has a second top surface positioned on a second plane, and the second top surface includes an engagement surface configured to receive a shaving razor component. The second housing portion has a first position in which the second plane is positioned at an angle of between negative 30 degrees and 30 degrees with respect to the first plane and a second position in which the second plane is positioned at an angle of between 70 degrees to 130 degrees with respect to the first plane.

Abstract: An automatic door can include a plurality of millimeter wave (mmW) sensors that are each configured to sense a door area. Each mmW sensor includes a mmW radar configured to capture mmW radar data and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) configured to measure an orientation of the mmW radar. Based on IMU data from the mmW sensors, the mmW radar data from the sensors can be combined so that the door areas can form a combined door area. Multiple targets can be detected and tracked through the combined door area at high resolutions and in a variety of environmental conditions. Control of the automatic door can be enhanced in a variety of ways by classifying the targets and predicting their movements in the combined door area. Further, the classification and prediction of targets can facilitate safe and reliable operation by filtering operation based on certain targets and/or motions.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to identifying and adjusting speed plans for controlling a vehicle in an autonomous driving mode. In one example, an initial speed plan for controlling speed of the vehicle for a first predetermined period of time corresponding to an amount of time along a route of the vehicle is identified. Data identifying an object and characteristics of that object is received from a perception system of the vehicle. A trajectory for the object that will intersect with the route at an intersection point at particular point in time is predicted using the data. A set of constraints is generated based on at least the trajectory. The speed plan is adjusted in order to satisfy the set of constraints for a second predetermined period of time corresponding to the amount of time. The vehicle is maneuvered in the autonomous driving mode according to the adjusted speed plan.

Abstract: A vehicle sports rack includes a hitch bar for insertion into a vehicle trailer hitch receiver. The hitch bar includes a wedge clamp for clamping the hitch bar against the inside walls of the vehicle hitch receiver. The wedge clamp is held in alignment with the hitch bar by a wedge clamp spring before and when the hitch bar is inserted into the trailer hitch receiver, thus making for easier, one-person installation. A hitch bar bolt pulls the wedge clamp out of alignment with the hitch bar when tightened, the non-alignment forming the clamping action. A hitch pin further secures the hitch bar in the vehicle trailer hitch receiver.

Abstract: A device including: a body having one or more walls defining an internal cavity, the wall(s) having one or more grooves extending in a longitudinal direction of the internal cavity and extending at least partially along a periphery of the wall(s); a mass movable in the longitudinal direction within the internal cavity, the mass having one or more holes extending in a direction offset from the longitudinal direction; a ball partially disposed in the groove(s) and partially disposed in each hole(s); and an elastic material for biasing the ball towards the groove(s). The groove(s) having a shape such that the acceleration greater than a predetermined acceleration profile causes the ball to first move opposite to the direction of the acceleration and then bounce to move in the direction of the acceleration until the ball(s) moves into the hole(s) to free the mass to move longitudinally opposite to the acceleration.

Abstract: A system and method for storage and retrieval are provided. The system includes a multi-level storage structure, and mobile robots configured to pick, transport and place one or more tote, container, or object. This system and method can be used in order-fulfillment applications in which one or more workstations accommodate a picker that transports one or more eaches from a tote on one of the autonomous mobile robots to a put location, and an input/output interface induct material into the system and discharge fulfilled orders from the system. The mobile robots are further configured to move from level to level in the multi-level storage structure via inclined or vertical tracks without requiring a vertical lift or vertical conveyor.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for evaluating a subject for a liver disease using ultrasound images. In one example, a method includes, in response to a request to evaluate the liver disease, determining, with a measurement model, that a selected medical image frame of the subject includes a target anatomical view and has an image quality above a threshold image quality, and in response, measuring, with the measurement model, a marker for the liver disease in the selected medical image, and outputting, for display on a display device, the measurement of the marker.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for facilitating video search are disclosed. An example apparatus includes one or more processors to execute instructions to process first metadata associated with video to identify the video as corresponding to an episode of a television show, the video made available by a first device. The example one or more processors are to update a database to include first information concerning the episode of the television show based on the first metadata and access second metadata associated with the video, the second metadata collected from a second device. Additionally, the example one or more processors are to process the second metadata to determine second information about the episode of the television show and augment the database with the second information about the episode of the television show.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for using traffic light viewsheds. One of the methods includes obtaining, by an on-board computer system of vehicle, viewshed data comprising a plurality of viewsheds for a plurality of respective traffic lights. An indication of a candidate driving plan that uses input from a traffic light detection of a particular traffic light having a viewshed is received. If a current location of the vehicle is within the particular viewshed for the particular traffic light, execution of the candidate driving plan is conditioned based on whether the current location of the vehicle is within the particular viewshed for the particular traffic light.

Abstract: A method is provided to dynamically encode data at runtime with a tagged data element in a program associated with an obfuscation algorithm randomly selected during runtime. Instructions for invoking the obfuscation algorithm are generated when a compiler encounters the tagged variable in the source code. At runtime, unencoded data is encoded by the obfuscation algorithm when the unencoded data is copied to the tagged data element; encoded data is re-encoded by the obfuscation algorithm when the encoded data is copied from a differently tagged data element to the tagged data element, wherein the differently tagged data element is associated with a different obfuscation algorithm; and encoded data is decoded by the obfuscation algorithm when the encoded data is copied from the tagged data element to an untagged data element.

The plurality of coils may include a poloidal field coil and a toroidal field coil formed of a high-temperature superconducting tape or ribbon. The toroidal field coil may be tilted at an angle along a toroidal field coil axis. The generator may include a graphite-fiber or graphene wrap configured to provide rigidity to one or more portion of the generator.

Abstract: In some implementations, a system may capture audio from a call between a calling device and a called device. The system may filter the captured audio to generate a background audio layer. The system may generate an audio footprint that is a representation of sound in the background audio layer. The system may determine that the audio footprint includes a triggering sound footprint based on one or more audio characteristics of the audio footprint. The system may detect synthetic sound based on the audio footprint and after determining that the audio footprint includes the triggering sound footprint, wherein the synthetic sound is indicative of a sound recording. The system may transmit a notification to one or more devices associated with the call based on detecting the synthetic sound.

Abstract: A plant cultivation system that includes a plurality of mobile racks and a plurality of lighting assemblies that are movable relative to each other. The mobile racks are designed to be independently movable along a floor surface and each support a plurality of planting units designed to receive the plants. The lighting assemblies are positioned adjacent to the mobile racks and are supported along an overhead lighting track independent from the mobile racks. Each of the lighting assemblies is movable along a rail of the overhead lighting track to adjust the position of the lighting assemblies relative to the mobile racks. The lighting assemblies are designed such that the mobile racks contact the lighting assemblies to move the lighting assemblies along the lighting track. Each lighting assembly includes one or more lighting fixtures that are operable to provide the required light for growing plants supported on the mobile rack.
