Abstract: A surface machining method to be adopted when machining a valve mechanism component member is provided so as to manufacture a product assuring a specific pulsation-reducing effect over an extended period of time with a high level of reliability. A plurality of recesses 60 are formed through laser machining over an area (seat surface 51) at a valve plate 2 around an suction port 24, which comes into contact with an suction valve 30, or an area of the suction valve 30 that comes into contact with the valve plate 2. Projections 61 may also be formed through laser machining around the recesses 60. Such projections 61 should be formed so as to assure hardness greater than the hardness of the other areas through radiation of laser light.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method of obtaining micro-vessel density (MVD) measurements from an image of biological vasculature containing a plurality of vessels is provided. The method comprises acts of analyzing a region of interest of the image for each of a plurality of bins, each of the plurality of bins associated with a predetermined range of vessel sizes, the act of analyzing the region of interest including determining which of the plurality of bins that portions of any vessel subject matter identified in the region of interest belong based on a size associated with the respective portions of the vessel subject matter, and associating each portion of the vessel subject matter with the corresponding one of the plurality of bins to which the portion belongs, and computing at least one measurement for each of the plurality of bins, the at least one measurement related to the MVD of the portions of vessel subject matter associated with the respective bin.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods for generating an ontology for a domain based on analysis performed on interactions captured in the domain. The analysis provides groups of concepts which are used as topics appearing or retrieved from the interactions are used as topics or concepts in the ontology. Concepts belonging to one group are indicated as connected within the ontology. The ontology can then be used in analyzing further interactions and provide meaning, content and relationships between concepts.

Abstract: A mobile device includes a character selecting system to select proper characters to edit a short message on the mobile electronic device. Selection of the proper characters by the character selecting system includes generation of a character list to edit a short message, generation of a number list corresponding to the character list, and activation of key-presses on the mobile device corresponding to numbers in the number list, to select the proper characters from the character list to edit the short message.

Abstract: Methods and equipment for forming beveled edge(s) around the core opening in a concrete block are disclosed. The formation of the beveled edge(s) minimizes feathering along the block edges that are beveled as the block is stripped from a mold. Any feathering that does occur is shifted away from the bottom surface of the block to allow the block to lay flat on other blocks when dry stacked in a wall.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing decoupled installation of data management systems used in conjunction with computer networks are disclosed. The method comprises installing data storage software in order to facilitate communication with a second computer in order to perform data storage operations. The software may be installed without knowledge of the second computer and/or the ability to communicate with the second computer. During the installation process, configuration parameters are obtained by the first computer and stored in a data structure. At least a portion of the configuration parameters recorded in the data structure is also provided to the second computer. The first and second computers subsequently communicate in order to register the first computer for use with the second computer.

Abstract: An improved method, system, and computer program product for selecting components for an early stage electronic design is disclosed. A library of cells is modeled and is characterized by parameter combinations, where the cell modeling information is based upon ranking and scoring of the cells in the cell library. Based upon design specification information for an electronic design, the cell modeling data is used to select one or more representative cells for the early stage design based upon the list of ranked cells. The rankings provide an indication of the appropriateness of the selected cells for the early stage design. The pre-modeling of the cells provides high efficiency at run-time when there is a need to quickly select cells for the early stage design.

Abstract: A system for determining the median of a plurality of data values comprises a plurality of field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), a plurality of inter FPGA links, an input router, a plurality of median modules, and a plurality of output transfer modules. Each FPGA includes a plurality of configurable logic elements and configurable storage elements from which the other components are formed. The inter FPGA link allows communication from one FPGA to another. The input router receives the plurality of data values and creates a plurality of data streams. The median module receives at least one data stream, increments a plurality of counters corresponding to a single data value within the range of data values, and determines the median by accumulating the contents of each counter. The output transfer module transfers the median to an external destination along with performance statistics of the determination of the median.

Abstract: Methods of forming low resistivity tungsten films with good uniformity and good adhesion to the underlying layer are provided. The methods involve forming a tungsten nucleation layer using a pulsed nucleation layer process at low temperature and then treating the deposited nucleation layer prior to depositing the bulk tungsten fill. The treatment operation lowers resistivity of the deposited tungsten film. In certain embodiments, the depositing the nucleation layer involves a boron-based chemistry in the absence of hydrogen. Also in certain embodiments, the treatment operations involve exposing the nucleation layer to alternating cycles of a reducing agent and a tungsten-containing precursor. The methods are useful for depositing films in high aspect ratio and/or narrow features. The films exhibit low resistivity at narrow line widths and excellent step coverage.

Abstract: A vehicle operation support system includes a navigation device, and a drive control device. The navigation device includes: part for storing road information including branch point information; and part for acquiring road curvature information with reference to the road information, and providing the drive control device with the road curvature information, before a vehicle reaches the branch point. The road curvature information includes information about curvature of first and second road sections extending forward from a branch point. The drive control device estimates entrance of the vehicle into one of the first and second road sections as a selected road section, and controls a driving state of the vehicle by operating an actuator with reference to information about curvature of the selected road section, in response to estimation of entrance of the vehicle into the selected road section.

Abstract: Application Specific Integrated Circuit (“ASIC”) devices, such as Field Programmable Gate Arrays (“FPGAs”), may be interconnected using serial I/O connections, such as high speed multi-gigabit serial transceiver (“MGT”) connections. For example, serial I/O connections may be employed to interconnect a pair of ASICs to create a high bandwidth, low signal count connection, and in a manner so that any given pair of multiple ASIC devices on a single circuit card may communicate with each other through no more than one serial data communication link connection step. A reconfigurable hardware architecture (“RHA”) may be configured to include a communications infrastructure that uses a high-bandwidth packet router to establish standard communications protocols between multiple interfaces and/or multiple devices that may be present on a single circuit card. Dynamically-sized data packets, sized in accordance with the amount of data ready to be sent, are transferred between the devices and/or interfaces on the card.

The at least one storage bin slides along one or more tongues of the side-wall to expose, in part or in whole, the storage bin, thereby utilizing compact console design while providing space creation and ergonomics for a vehicle driver and/or passengers. An upper portion of the side-wall slidingly engages a lower portion of the side-wall to allow a user to adjust an armrest of the upper portion and/or to cover and uncover the at least one storage bin.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for processing information in images pictured by infrared cameras comprising the steps of receiving radiation from at least one object in an area; extracting radiometric information from the radiation; transforming the radiometric information into at least one digital image file; storing the at least one digital image file and at least one digital function file comprising an executable code characterised by the steps of merging the executable code of the at least one digital function file into or with the at least one digital image file, thereby generating an executable digital image file, wherein the executable code comprises at least one instruction and is written in a programming language independent of system architecture. The invention further relates to a computer program product. By this inventive concept is achieved a cross-platform compatibility of the executable digital images files that makes them independent of computer system architecture.

Abstract: A fiber optic interrogator includes a broadband optical source, at least one beam splitter directing output of the optical source to an array of fiber optic gratings, at least one linear transmission or reflection filter, at least one optical receiver and at least one amplifier associated with each receiver. In one aspect of the invention, a linear transmission filter is used to convert the change in center wavelength of a grating reflectivity spectrum to a change in intensity, which is proportional to the change in the grating central wavelength. In another aspect of the invention, a pair of opposite-sloped linear transmission filters are utilized to normalize the received and filtered reflections with respect to total optical power. In another aspect of the invention, the optical source is pulsed, and return pulses from each fiber optic grating to be measured are sampled by the interrogator at different times.

When the latching member is slid relative to the rotary member, the other end of the SIM card is latched into the latching slot, the resilient hook is engaged with the latching portion.
