Abstract: Cross-tabulation operation is performed within a columnar database management system. The columnar database management system receives a request to perform a cross-tabulation operation on a set of database tables. The columnar database management system determines values of cross-tabulation operation for each row of the result. The columnar database management system determines a domain for each value of the row dimension corresponding to a row combination. The columnar database management system determines an intersection set of the domains corresponding to values of the row dimensions for the row combination. The columnar database management system determines a value for the result column for the row combination as an aggregate value based on the records of the intersection set.

Abstract: Electronic discovery using predictive filtering is disclosed herein. An example method includes providing a filtering interface that includes a field value input, a predicted values selector, and a predictor type selector; receiving at least a pivot selected from the field value input and a predicted value from the predicted values selector; searching a plurality of documents based on the pivot and the predicted value selected for any of predictive phrases or predictive concepts; calculating a predictive value for each of the predictive phrases or predictive concepts; and generating a graphical user interface that includes the predictive phrases or predictive concepts in conjunction with their respective predictive value.

Abstract: A method for converting a facsimile includes receiving the facsimile via the public-switched telephone network, generating an enhanced portable document format (EPDF) file that includes information in addition to image information and communicating the EPDF file to an e-mail server. The EPDF file can then be communicated as an attachment to an e-mail message addressed to the intended recipient of the facsimile. A facsimile processing system includes a public-switched telephone network interface, a packet-switched network interface, a mail transfer protocol server, an input agent, a job processor and a translator. The input agent identifies and forwards the incoming facsimile to the job processor. The job processor determines when an EPDF file is desired and communicates appropriate instructions to the translator. The translator generates the EPDF file in response to the instructions and the image information from the facsimile.

Abstract: Embodiments of search systems that leverage the search or access activities of a core group of users to improve search functionality and performance of such search systems are disclosed. Specifically, embodiments may utilize users' search activity to generate clusters of users and associated labels for those clusters. These clusters can be leveraged during a search to generate suggestions for a user conducting the search.

Abstract: Embodiments of systems and methods for implementing data sovereignty safeguards in a distributed services network architecture are disclosed. Embodiments of a distributed services system may have a number of distributed nodes that each implements a set of services. When a user requests a service at a particular node of a distributed services system, the node is configured to determine if that node is not (or is) data sovereign for a region associated with the user. If the node is not data sovereign for the user's region, the user may be directed to a corresponding service at a node of the distributed service system that is data sovereign for the user's region.

Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for user-defined automated document feature modeling, extraction and optimization. In the present disclosure, an end user of an automated document review system can customize and create new extractor taggers within data models applicable to a set of focus documents. The user-defined edits to the extractor taggers can be further tested in a staging environment, and tested against a ground truth set of documents, before being widely applied to other relevant documents.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and media for extracting and processing entity data included in an electronic document are provided herein. Methods may include executing one or more extractors to extract entity data within an electronic document based upon an extraction model for the document, selecting extracted entity data via one or more experts, each of the experts applying at least one business rule to organize at least a portion of the selected entity data into a desired format, and providing the organized entity data for use by an end user.

Abstract: A system and method for conducting forensic investigations by investigators on an investigations field using a mobile device. A digital search warrant is downloaded to the mobile device prior to conducting the forensic investigation. The digital search warrant defines the search parameters of the search to be conducted, including key terms, file types, and the like. The mobile device is coupled to a target device in the investigations field that is the subject of the forensic investigation. The mobile device parses the digital search warrant and automatically identifies and collects data from the target device based on the parsed digital search warrant. The automatically identifying and collecting of the data is done without modifying a state of the target device to retain forensic integrity during the investigation process.

Abstract: Distribution of electronic documents is described, including receiving an electronic document to be distributed, identifying whether a destination identifier is associated with a destination account among a known group of customer accounts, routing the electronic document, and calculating a fee associated with delivery of the electronic document based on whether the destination account is among the known group of customers and a set of billing rules. The set of billing rules may specify a discounted fee for routing an electronic document to each of a known group of customer accounts. In other aspects, the set of billing rules may specify a discounted fee for routing an electronic document to a first group of the known group of customer accounts and specify a standard fee for a second group of the known group of customer accounts.

Abstract: Information extraction and annotation systems and methods for use in annotating and determining annotation instances are provided herein. Exemplary methods include receiving training documents having annotated words, identifying a predetermined number of characters preceding and following each annotated word for each of the training documents to determine a context for each of the annotated words, performing an alignment of an annotated word and its context with characters in the target document, identifying common sequences, and assigning annotations to words in the target document when common sequences are found.

Abstract: Venn diagrams are computed for a given plurality of input sets. The process of computing the Venn diagrams is executed on columnar database systems for efficient execution. The computation of various subsets of the Venn diagrams is performed by determining subsets of various combinations of the input sets and computing set differences of the intersection sets. The process orders the execution of various steps of computing the subsets for the Venn diagram in an order that reduces the number of times an input set is loaded. Information describing various subsets of a Venn diagram is used to render the Venn diagram for display, for example, on a client device.

Abstract: Embodiments of a fax system with adaptive protocol selection, and methods for such a system, are disclosed herein. Embodiments of a fax system may be adapted to selectively configure the protocol (both the type of protocol or aspects of a particular protocol) used in association with the transmission or reception of a specific fax. The configuration of the protocol utilized can be based on one or more attributes associated with a sender or a destination. The fax can then be transmitted or received according to those configuration parameters.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for generating accessible documents. In one embodiment, an initial document in a print format is obtained. The print format of the initial document is identified as one of a plurality of print formats. A parser corresponding to the one of the plurality of print formats is applied such that the initial document is parsed according to the print format of the initial document. An intermediate document that conforms to an intermediate format is generated based upon results obtained from applying the parser. A template for converting the intermediate document into an accessible document is obtained. The template is then such that an accessible document corresponding to the initial document is generated, wherein the accessible document includes a plurality of tags that designate an order of a plurality of regions of the accessible document.

Abstract: Data mining operations are performed within a columnar database management system. The columnar database management system stores input sets of data for a data mining operation. An input set of data is represented as a column of data in the columnar database management system. The columnar database management system stores instructions to perform one or more data mining operations for processing the input sets of data. The columnar database management system receives requests for performing data mining operations and performs the processing of the data mining operation within the columnar database management system. As a result, the processing of data mining operations is performed without requiring multiple data transfers between an application implementing the data mining operations and the columnar database management system.

A first annotation, which includes one or more comments associated with a first portion of the electronic content, is displayed. While the first annotation is displayed, an input to display a second annotation is received. Abstract: A computer investigation system and method organizes information in a hive. Information in a target device is parsed by a processor, and facts and links are extracted from the data. The processor identifies the fact type for each identified fact, and further generates a fact ID for the fact. The information for the fact is stored in the hive in a fact table associated with the fact type. The processor also identifies the link type for each identified link, and further generates a link ID for the link. The information for the link ID is stored in the hive in a link table associated with the identified link type. A query language that is adapted to work with the hive allows querying of data stored in the hive.

Abstract: Inter-modal messaging communication is described. In one embodiment, a method of communication includes receiving an electronic mail message to be distributed and determining whether the electronic mail message is a multi-modal distribution message. Respective portions of the message may be separated for each mode of distribution. The separated portions may represent portions to be delivered by SMS messaging and facsimile, for example. The method further includes the steps of transmitting a short message comprising the short message portion of the mail message and establishing a conversation comprising conversation attributes. The conversation attributes are referenced, in certain aspects, to maintain a conversation between an originator of the received electronic mail message and a distribution address of short message portion of the mail message. For example, upon receipt of a short message in reply, the short message may be forwarded to an originator of the conversation.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a delivery pacing solution to keep customers from affecting other customers. The delivery pacing solution need not be predefined or pre-configured for any customer or any particular job or job type and can be implemented in various ways, for instance, in a queue manager or a dynamic ticketing server. In some embodiments, an agent may obtain from a queue an item specifying a destination and determine whether the item has a concurrency parameter for a group associated with the destination. If so, the agent delivers the item to the destination. If not, the agent dynamically determines a concurrency parameter and returns the item to the queue with the concurrency parameter which controls a maximum number of items in the group that can be concurrently processed for delivery to the destination. A queue manager applies a concurrency rule to the item based on the concurrency parameter.
