Typically, the substrate is made of aluminum plate, and the porous substrate consists of an anodized layer. Owing to the porous nature of the surface of the printing plate, the imaging resin deposited on the surface of the printing plate seeps into the printing plate and is thereby securely anchored to the printing plate so that an adequate bonding force between the imaging resin and printing plate can be ensured. Also, by suitably controlling the amount of the imaging resin that seeps or penetrates into the porous layer, an adequate thickness of the imaging resin on the surface of the printing plate can be ensured, and this also contributes to the wear resistance of the printing plate.
