Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for analysing an activity session. Data from a monitoring device worn by a user of the system for example is received over a period of time or distance and a classification system of the invention is utilized in real time or post session to determine the activities performed by the user during the session. The data collected relates to multiple parameters monitored during the activity session. The classification system defines an activity using a set of threshold criteria for a combination of parameters and therefore identifies a particular activity performed during the activity session when a combination of monitored parameters satisfies the threshold criteria for a particular activity. Determining the activities performed in this way allows for more useful interpretation of the data which in turn leads to more effective coaching advice and feedback for the user.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a small volume sampling device having a deformable fluid reservoir and a stem. The sampling device includes a plurality of volumetric fluid loading indicia increasing from the closed end of the deformable fluid reservoir to the open end of the deformable fluid reservoir adjacent the stem. The sampling device has an improved hold-up volume when sampling small volumes of fluid.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and projecting light into a specified target illuminance. A lens may be mounted or otherwise paired to a carrier to form a lens/carrier combination, which may then be mounted to a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) containing a light emitting diode (LED). The lens/carrier combination may establish an optimum optical relationship between the LED and the lens, such that a predetermined photometric distribution of the LED is collected by the lens, while the remaining photometric distribution of the LED is rejected by the carrier. The lens may include a first pair of opposing surfaces forming a first focus and a second pair of opposing surfaces forming a second focus. The first and second foci may cause light to be subtended into one or more of collimated light focused light, diffused light, and shifted light. The carrier may include an obstruction extending toward the PCBA.
Abstract: A method of producing functionalized surface-modified alumina by adding an organic modifier comprising acrylic acid to alumina and drying the alumina to covalently bond the organic modifier to the surface of the alumina. The functionalized surface-modified alumina being uniformly dispersible in organic polymer to form single crystallites of functionalized surface-modified alumina in the polymer.
Abstract: A method of determining a position of at least one transceiver node comprises, anchor node by anchor node, transmitting respective positioning frames suitable for reception by a transceiver node and by the other anchor nodes. The transceiver node receives the positioning frames transmitted by the anchor nodes and ascertains respective times of reception for each. A solver stage determines the coordinates (xs, ys, zs) of the respective transceiver node and the time ts of transmission of the first positioning frame by an anchor node of first rank in the positioning sequence by numerically solving a non-linear system of at least five equations.

Abstract: The present invention includes a method of activating irisin by administering to an individual in need of such treatment a composition comprising irisin-activating ingredients, thus increasing the conversion of white fat to BAT, and consequently, increasing metabolic rate and promoting weight loss. In an embodiment, the composition includes a Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract, a Polygonum cuspidatum root extract, capsaicinoids, and grains of paradise or constituents thereof. The composition may optionally comprise additional ingredients to activate the increased BAT, thus further increasing metabolic rate and furthering weight loss.
