Abstract: A seismic protective structure (100) for forming part of a board partition (190) and for limiting damage to the board partition (190) when a given level of seismic stress is appearing is described. The seismic protective structure (100) comprises at least one board (101) and support elements (102, 103) for positioning the board adjacent a neighboring wall and linking the board to the remainder of the board partition wall. The seismic protective structure (100) is adapted for, when a given level of seismic stress is appearing, intentionally causing damage of the at least one board (101) thereby releasing pressure from the remainder of the board partition (190).

Abstract: A video game system can include a console, a camera and a light targeting peripheral (LTP), where the LPT can direct non-visible light (e.g., infrared (IR) light) onto a display screen. The camera is positioned so that is can view the display screen, and can locate a non-visible light dot on the display screen during video game play. The system can be used with any size or type of electronic display (e.g., any type of television, computer screen, etc.), or any type of non-electronic display (e.g., projector screen) on which the video game can be projected. The LTP has one or more sensors that sense when an accessory is attached thereto and to communicate a signal to the video game console of said attachment to adjust a parameter of the video game operated by the video game console.
Abstract: A gas bearing system has at least one gas bearing (30, 32, 34) with a moving part and a static part and which can be operated in both aero-dynamic and aero-static modes. The system has a source (36) of pressurised gas fluidly connected with the bearing and a control system (134) for regulating the supply of pressurised gas to the bearing in dependence on the rotational speed of the moving part. The system has particular application in a turbocharger (1) where a flow of pressurised gas from the source is introduced into the bearing at the start-up and slow down phases of operation of the turbocharger, the flow being stopped, or reduced, when the turbocharger has reached normal operating speeds.

Abstract: A slide bearing can include a metal support, a primer layer, an adhesive layer applied directly thereto, and a sliding layer applied to the adhesive layer. Abstract: A barbell collar system which is both easy to connect or disconnect from the barbell and secure enough to maintain weights on a barbell during extreme use. The barbell collar system generally includes a collar which is adapted to easily and quickly be connected to or removed from a barbell to retain a weight on the barbell. The collar is adapted to adjust between a first position in which the collar is curled around the barbell outside of the weight and a second position in which the collar is elongated in a linear orientation. The collar may include a ribbon spring for snapping between the two positions and an outer covering for increasing friction between the collar and the barbell. One or more magnets may be included with the collar to magnetically engage the collar with the barbell or the collar with itself.

Abstract: The present invention relates to specialty pulp products produced using bifunctional reagents composed of polymeric chain and end caps. The polymeric chain is preferably a polyalkylene glycol based polymer and the end caps are preferably a cationic quaternary ammonium. The bifunctional reagents are especially useful in making specialty fluff with dual functional properties—easy defiberization and antimicrobial properties. The specialty fluff of the present invention prevents odor by inhibiting bacteria growth and production of organic matters, especially when used in an absorbent article intended for body waste management such as baby diapers and adult incontinence device.
