Abstract: A system for recovering electrical energy and water from exhaust gasses. The system includes a thermoelectric generator to produce electricity from the waste heat of the exhaust gasses of internal combustion engines and the like. The exhaust is cooled by the thermoelectric generator, air cycle machine and other heat absorbing devise which, through work, reduce the exhaust gas temperature and promote condensation of the water.

Abstract: A system and method for braking a flat-towed vehicle based upon a braking pressure of a braking fluid in a braking circuit in the towing vehicle, the method includes measuring a piezoresistor voltage drop across a piezoresistor positioned within the braking circuit such that the piezoresistor voltage drop changes in response to the braking pressure within the braking circuit. Based upon the measured piezoresistor voltage drop, a motor frame duration is retrieved. A clutch engages the motor output shaft to initiate a clutch frame. Upon expiration of a programmed clutch delay, a motor frame initiates by supplying power to a motor. Upon expiration of the motor frame duration, power to the motor is interrupted. The clutch continues to be engaged for the duration of the clutch frame. The clutch releases allowing a capstan attached to the clutch to spin freely relative to the motor output shaft.
Abstract: A device for training a batter includes a top net structurally configured to impede movement of a ball that contact the top net, a bottom net structurally configured to impede movement of a ball that contacts the bottom net, and a mechanical couple structurally configured to place the device in front of a batter such that the top net is positioned over the bottom net with a void defined between the top net and the bottom net. When the device is placed in front of a batter, the top net may impede movement of balls hit by the batter above a first predetermined launch angle, the bottom net may impede movement of balls hit by the batter below a second predetermined launch angle, and the void may allow for passage of balls hit by the batter below the first predetermined launch angle and above the second predetermined launch angle.

Abstract: A nonwoven laminate is provided having multi-purposes. One embodiment is an A-layer having a high surface tension factor to prevent water absorption and can be used for fender liners or underbody surfaces of motor vehicles to prevent water from absorbing into the material as well as ice accumulation. The water resistant properties are the result of utilizing a newly engineered hydrophobic PET (H-PET) fiber. Another embodiment, useable alone or in combination with the A-layer is a B-layer that has hollow multi-lobe cross-sectional fibers to provide enhanced sound absorption properties. One or both layers have thermo-moldable characteristics that allow them to be shaped into a specific geometry. In this case, the low melt fibers provided in one or both layers are “fused” and interlock or bridge together to yield a rigid nonwoven water/ice resistant and/or sound absorbing composite.

Handheld input devices applicable to some embodiments may include, without limitation, computer controllers, video game console controllers, and handheld video gaming devices. Input mechanisms applicable to various embodiments may include, for example, control sticks (e.g., joysticks or analog sticks operable by a user's finger, such as a thumbstick), buttons, switches, and directional pads. According to some embodiments, an input mechanism is provided comprising a base component. Depending on the embodiment, coupling different interchangeable elements to the base component may cause the input mechanism to vary in size, appearance, contour, material, or features provided by the input mechanism.

Abstract: An engine mount comprising a body having a cavity and a flange. The cavity comprises an opening having a central axis. The flange comprises bottom and top mounting surfaces and a centerline perpendicular to the central axis. The bottom mounting surface defines a first horizontal plane off-set from the central longitudinal axis. The flange further comprises a symmetric mounting hole pattern extending from the bottom mounting surface to the top mounting surface. The off-set and the symmetric mounting hole pattern allow a first use of the engine mount where the bottom surface of the flange is engaged directly with the engine mounting bracket and a second use of the engine mount where the top surface of the flange is engaged directly with the engine mounting bracket so that a different type of engine may be mounted.
Abstract: An adjustable fuel plate device for a diesel fuel pump is disclosed. The adjustable fuel plate device can include a fuel plate to limit travel of a governor arm of a diesel fuel pump for a diesel engine. The adjustable fuel plate device can also include a translation mechanism to move the fuel plate relative to the governor arm. Additionally, the adjustable fuel plate device can include a control system coupleable to the translation mechanism to control movement of the fuel plate during operation of the engine.
Abstract: A tunable plasmon resonator, comprising a plasmon resonance layer made of graphene, a crystalline group-IV-semiconductor material or a crystalline group-III-V semiconductor material, and arranged on a carrier substrate, the plasmon resonance layer having a plasmon resonance region that is exposed to a sensing volume and a tuning device that is integrated into the plasmon resonator and arranged and configured to modify a density of free charge carriers in the plasmon resonance region or to modify an effective mass amount of the free charge carriers in the plasmon resonance region by applying of a control voltage to tuning control electrode(s) of the tuning device, thereby setting a plasmon frequency of plasmon polaritons in the plasmon resonance region to a desired plasmon frequency value within a plasmon frequency tuning interval, for resonance excitation of plasmon polaritons by incident electromagnetic waves of a frequency corresponding to the set plasmon frequency value.

Abstract: A clutch cover for use with virtually any combination of make and model of engine components and method of making the same is disclosed. The clutch cover is made by spin forming a sheet of metal and removing material as needed to coincide with the corresponding engine components. Therefore, the exact design of the cover including attaching holes and apertures related to release levers may be quickly and easily formed in the clutch cover. Furthermore, a heat management system is provided that includes the addition of fins or other apertures through the clutch cover to increase the air flow to reduce the temperature within the clutch cover to cool engine components.
Abstract: Bonded polymeric film laminates comprising core polymer film layers individually coated on at least one side with a heat fusible polymer layer and fusion bonded together by the application of heat and pressure at a temperature at which each heat fusible polymer coating bonds together adjacent core polymer film layers, where the melting point or softening temperature of the heat fusible polymer is at least 3° C. below that of the core layer polymer, and the lamination temperature is at or above the melting point or softening temperature of the heat fusible coating polymer, where the heat fusible polymer coating layers are thinner than the core polymer film layers, where the coated core polymer film layers are uniaxially stretched by 2× to 40×, and the stretched coated core polymer film layers are cross-plied. Methods for forming the laminates, coated films from which the laminates are formed, and articles formed from the laminates are also disclosed.
