Abstract: An electrical resistance corrosion monitoring probe having a single lateral face of each of two rectangular prismatic elements of similar temperature-resistance characteristics but different thicknesses exposed to the corroding environment. Both the faces are corroded away, but the resistance change is different due to the inverse relationship between resistance and cross-sectional area. A measurement bridge network is used to monitor the change in cross-sectional area of both elements. A preferred probe embodiment, employing resistance elements having equivalent thermal masses and electrical resistances, as by using elements of the same material and of substantially equal lengths and cross-sectional areas, allows the use of a complementary measurement bridge network in its most sensitive region.

Abstract: This invention relates to quaternary polyaminoamides. The polyaminoamides are prepared by reacting acrylate-type compounds with polyamines as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 3,445,441. This invention also relates to uses for the quaternized polymer, particularly in the prevention of corrosion.
Abstract: This invention relates to an exothermic emulsion polymerization method characterized by the presence of a low boiling fluid as a component of one of the phases of the emulsion system, said low boiling fluid having the following characteristics:(1) It is sufficiently inert so that it does not interfere with the polymerization reaction(2) It is capable of maintaining by reflux the polymerization system at relatively even and homogeneous temperature. This is exemplified by the use of a halogenated hydrocarbon boiling below about 50.degree. C. as the low boiling fluid.

Abstract: This invention relates to the use of phosphorylated oxyalkylated polyols as corrosion inhibitors in highly oxygenated systems such as experienced in air drilling. These corrosion inhibitors not only inhibit general or overall corrosion but also inhibit localized corrosion of the pitting type.
Abstract: This invention relates to adducts of salts of polymerizable tertiary amines with acrylic compounds illustrated by acrylamide and acrylonitrile; to polymers and copolymers containing said adducts and to processes for preparing them. This invention also relates to the use of said polymers and copolymers, particularly in the clarification of turbid waters by flocculation or flotation of oil and/or suspended solids. In the preferred embodiment, the quaternary adduct monomer is: ##STR1## where X is an anion, preferably halide such as chloride or carboxylate such as acetate; and polymers and copolymers containing units thereof.
